Looking at all these FFXIV screenshots, and I realize I really don't like how it all looks.
The quest tracker, hotkeys on screen, compass-map-thing, quick buttons and such.
It's all stuff featured in any modern MMO, none if it is in FFXI.
Honestly, half the fun of 11 was getting lost and not really having something telling you "DO THIS EXACTLY" or "GO HERE". It all was just story, maybe gave a hint as to where to go or what to do.
All these modern day MMOs just seem very straightforward. :/
Anyhow, I'm not trying to *** or moan about your screenshot, I like it. ^^
just fuming.
I think that's the nostalgia goggles coming through. It's great to think back on, and we all really enjoyed it at the time, but there's a reason there are 1000000 WoW clones and FFXI is the only real everquest clone.
I don't know about you but I probably spent 10% of my time in FFXI going through quest/mission ACTUAL content 30% of my time on wiki reading how to actually do it, and 60% of my time looking for the group to do it with. I don't know, but by today's standards I don't think that's good game design at all.
Though, I really did enjoy FFXI for a long long time.
I disagree. It is not refreshing. It is annoying. There is a place for these screen shots and it is not here. Just like facebook pictures on here are not tolerated.
Unless we can continuously post other games screen shots. Then I am going to go find some good WoW screen shots and post 3-10 of them a day.
