We're removing the play time limit for the FINAL FANTASY XI Free Trial version and increasing its character level cap to Level 75!

Changes to the Free Trial version
・Time limit: 14 days > No restrictions
Now you can play the game at your own pace without having to worry about the free trial period expiring. Take your time to level up your character and visit various areas in the game. This is your chance to go on adventures with your friends and get the most out of your life in Vana'diel.

・Character level cap: Level 50 > Level 75
With this new level cap, you can upgrade your Free Trial character even further, as well as take on the additional content that has been released for characters up to Level 75.

Free Trial accounts that were previously created can now be used again following the removal of the play time limit. If your free trial period has already ended, you can once again enjoy the Free Trial version starting today.


Experience new adventures in Vana'diel
In addition to the multiple missions, quests, and battle content that have been added to the world of Vana'diel, you can also enjoy the various new updates, campaigns, and events as well. So be sure to take advantage of the playable content up to Level 75 and see what FINAL FANTASY XI is like today!

This is the perfect opportunity to introduce your friends, family members, and other acquaintances to FINAL FANTASY XI and invite them to join you on your adventures throughout Vana'diel!

October brings with it the monthly updates to Ambuscade.

Also, the Harvest Festival seasonal event will be making its return, and is joined by the third appearance of The Shadow Lord's Dominion event. In addition, we're planning a variety of campaigns for your enjoyment, including the Alter Ego Expo Campaign. We hope you are looking forward to everything this month has to offer!

We are pleased to announce the return of the "Strange Happenings in Vana'diel" event, held in celebration of the Echoes of Vana'diel crossover between FINAL FANTASY XI and FINAL FANTASY XIV!

Out of nowhere, giant monsters have appeared in places where they most definitely do not belong. These unexpected visitors have the potential to throw the surrounding areas into utter chaos. Therefore, we are calling upon all available adventurers to help investigate this incident and defeat the invaders!

Additionally, it's rumored that the monsters may drop rather unusual materials when defeated. These materials can be used to significantly upgrade the equipment for each race, as well as craft weapons modeled after those wielded by Gulool Ja Ja.

There have been countless items added to the game over the years, including some that were available via limited-time events that are not scheduled to return or otherwise only featured limited chances to acquire them. Therefore, we have decided to introduce this special opportunity on a trial basis to either make these items available again or provide an easier, limited-time method to obtain them.

The eligible items this time are the Travesty, Demonic Axe, Shadow Lord statue, and Shadow Lord shirt. Travesty is a relatively new weapon that offers performance perfectly suited to a wide range of adventurers, and is also able to frequently unleash weapon skills.

This is also your chance to get your hands on the Demonic Axe that was available as a completion reward for Vana'Bout, and the Shadow Lord statue and Shadow Lord shirt based on the infamous Shadow Lord himself!

In celebration of the third installment of Echoes of Vana'diel (Windurst: The Third Walk) being added to FINAL FANTASY XIV as part of Patch 7.5, FFXI is also introducing various events to help mark this special occasion.

Of those events, we will soon be launching the second session of the event known as The Shadow Lord's Dominion.

In conjunction with the event's return, the Shadow Lord has prepared an all-new reward, Travesty, as he awaits your challenge. In addition to the Regain status effect, it occasionally prevents TP consumption when using weapon skills, making this weapon highly versatile in combat. So, make sure to check it out when you have the time!

Note: The Travesty item has been left with the Curator Moogle. Once the event has started, make sure to check the items needed for the trade.

Furthermore, there are some additional Shadow Lord-themed items making their return as well.

* Since you'll need to increase your level and complete missions in order to take on the ★Rank 5 Mission, we're offering it on three separate occasions (one time each in August, September, and October) so that as many adventurers as possible can enjoy the content.

Please note that there will be no changes to the spoils you can earn from the battlefield on these three occasions.
If it's hard for you to complete the mission during this month, hopefully you'll be able to take advantage of the third and final opportunity next month.

This ★Rank 5 Mission can be attempted by up to six players. Whether you're working together with your fellow linkshell members or taking advantage of this unique opportunity to team up with other adventurers, we hope that everyone is able to enjoy the content that we have prepared. To that end, we also plan to add new items to each event session that can be obtained from the Curator Moogle.
