In this game there is always just one optimal set for what ever it is you're doing tp on x mob, ws on x mob, spell etc. Proths goal on these forums is to find out what pieces when are the best for the job he loves that is admirable. Now if for some reason his opinion on a set is different than yours instead of complaining about it. Why not do the math your self and try to either disprove him or find out why he is right? This is what a forum is for.

I kinda wonder what the future of VW will be like. Considering you don't need to proc since you start at capped lights w/cells, how will that fare for us? I think people will just load up on the heavy DD and a few buffer/healers and zerg everything, which means most meatheads won't even think of BLU.

Considering BLU is a heavy DD, we should start advocacy groups to keep us in the running.

Though even with that, we'll still need procs for temp items, so...

I mean it's not like there's much in VW for anyone.

You're either punching something's teeth in, healing/buffing the people punching something's teeth in, or being a proc *** (sometimes while wishing you were punching something's teeth in).

They're talking about adjusting temp items / the need for temp items ...

So who knows even for that.

Even if so, I don't fear it all that much. I've proven to my core group of people that I play with that my BLU can put out substantial damage, same can be done by anyone. It really comes down to your willingness to be aggressive.

The BLU playerbase suffers the same problem the DNC playerbase does: lack of adaptability.

They learned one way to play the job and are unwilling to learn how to optimize for various events/situations.

Although that could be said or the playerbase in general, it's just easier to notice on hybrid jobs that don't force you into a specific corner.

It depends Draylo. First of all I would still cap lights with my LS because you can actually not lose a lot of money on cells this way.

In the fight when you will use cells to cap lights you still need at least 3-4 red lights (more in PUGs) to get temps back, because when you actually can kill most mobs w/o fanatic etc. you will need to play defensively for that which would lead to actually slower kill than with proc jobs.

Lastly it depends how good is the player who play the job really. I was in JP pug today (Wivre and Viking-sperm). DD party had brd cor cor and I still won on BLU with just self buffs. Its all really reduced to simple reputation of individual player. None who can think logical wont invite random WAR instead of Prothescar's BLU if he would need DD only.

Honestly, most BLU are just plain terrible and have always been so. The good BLU out there know how the job adapts to various content and plans accordingly. BLU/THF cannonball in the day, nuking builds, physical DD builds etc. Most were just spamming any spell in AF1, now its just the same and wearing AF3 lol.

True, I just do VW mainly with pick up shouts so I guess I'll just have to see. It will also depend on how severely they reduce AOE dmg from ws/spell from the VW NMs. That could make reliance on temps a lot less useful than before, which means easier time to zerg and less jobs required for procs.

I think the MP sticks do it worse for me. They put all that time into something so wrong.

Well I have one but im Galka with 15/15hp merits. My base mp is like 439 so this sword is +23%mp for me :) Its also best option/inventory saver for debuffs(beside Tizona ofc).

I found it funny that because of how BLU evolved Galka is now one of the best race for BLU (it was completely crap at 75).

If you stand by and just proc in VW I suppose it could be helpful. Although mp shouldn't be a problem with a good Idle set and temps.

Galka was always a good BLU. High STR, High MND, High HP for when AoEs came, I soloed a lot back at 75 cap. In fact I soloed 1-75 plus capped merits. Mp was never an issue in events for me anyway since I usually had a BRD or WHM(Devotion) with me when we did things. I remember when people we so hardheaded back at 75 where things were impossible without "the proper setup" when in fact we never won with said setup unless I brought my BLU lol. Such nonsense.

Nope and nope.

@Draylo I use BLU for many lowman events like Dynamis for example. Lowman is not solo tho. With marches sword damage is far superior to spells so you mainly cast Lunge, Dream flower, Heavy Strike etc. which is almost covered by BatteryC and idle set. Max MP on BLU is now really needed for solo nothing else.

@Kieron I still win a parses w/o str/att sword so I'm fine with it. Tho yeah I mainly use mp/macc sword because I dont have Str/att cuz I'm lazy/dont have time to make one.

Taru is far from being best race for BLU now. Mithra might be best balanced now but I will still prefer more STR/VIT/HP over some MP/DEX.

Firesday is up now. Perfect opportunity to do a STR sword. That stick is wasting inventory space.

Hume and Mithra are the "better" races just because of the balanced stats. Mithra's DEX isn't a massive factor considering most any race sans elvaan should be able to cap dDEX.

If that's directed at me, I never said YOU can't do it or that "I" couldn't do it, but I don't feel that most of the population of blu can do it. I also think that it's irresponsible to paint that picture for the average blu mage. If not, pardon my assumption.
That specification was nonexistant in your original post, so assuming that you're not simply safefacing here I'd suggest bearing in mind who all tends to respond to BLU posts around here and phrasing future posts accordingly.

My original post in this thread specified that a blu mage got 4% of the parse more than a ukko war, which I was implying that the war was taking a nap lol(although the fact that the war and the blu are closeish to the ragnarok drk, whom i know was neither nappying; multiweapon proc'ing; or holding back in any way; leads me to believe that the war was paying attention). What i do assume in THAT case is either that the war WAS multitasking procs and DD while the blu completely disregarded them. I think the fact that the blu is that high on the list shows that they AREN'T multitasking and are focusing entirely on DD (probably because someone said the word parse and they got a little e-excited)

I hope i phrased that in a manner with which you can make no assumptions or insinuations later.

You don't seem to grasp the concept of mutlitasking in this case, kindly stop using the word. BLU procs aren't incredibly common, and when they do come up it takes relatively little time to cast all four spells. The biggest time sink is waiting for spells to come up, but even if you devoted EVERY SINGLE SPELL SLOT to procs, you wouldn't be able to set them all. That is not an option. You're wrong here, deal with it.
