Line work is alright, a few Ink blowouts because he pressed to hard. and the Shading doesn't flow at all, it goes from Black to Red.

TBF even if it were just his character's name, tattooing "Scaevola" on my back would not be the most foolish tattoo-related decision I've ever made.

Not sure it that shade style was intentional or not, if not the artist needs to really learn how to shade. if you are really trying to fade colors use circles not lines when shading. needs to be more fluid and even, some of the lettering goes higher than the other letters with the shading. Outline is very clean though,
Obviously the skin is still swollen here so kinda hard to see what has actually happened. However I would take it to another artist just to have them at the very least look at the shading once it is healed up.
