But I bought one with 200 sparks (pretty cheap). However, the amount it raises your skill is random. So far I've seen 0.1-0.4.

Presumably this works like an actual skill-up (while fighting/casting) and there will be more numbers in that range.

For the price tag, you get what you pay for (Since when isn't something expensive in FF?)

Maybe useful to grind out the last few levels in a skill that is leveling slowly (Healing magic / Summoning magic come to mind...

Otherwise you can probably cap most skills way faster than you can get the sparks.
