Cannot be lost by blowing your synth up.

HOWEVER, can be lost by the synthesis being "interrupted". Such as zoning (ferry being the obvious one), being attacked by mobs, etc.

Yes, you can repair it yourself if it breaks while you are fishing to skill up yyour woodworking. It will cap at 80.

The Rabao NPC's name is Irmilant (I couldn't find this in BGwiki or FFXI wiki, so I posted it here). He requires 2 Light Crystas and 1 Ancient Lumber, as Techzardow said.

Is it possible to skillup with it? I mean if the craft dont break anymore.

I would fish then and repair it on myself to get skillups and continue fishing.. anyone know?

pretty hard to break, i slow camped ah for cheap ancient logs and got 80 before i ever broke rod.

this rod obveusly breaks, otherwise you wouldn't be seeing this. lol

but should read
Limited lifetime warranted.
there is a cheap quest to get it fixed. and when you go to synth it yourself chances of breaking and loseing the broken rod are 0% :D
