I'm pretty sure most of you pronounce the names of certain pieces of gear horribly wrong.

FFXII is where I got the pronunciation for 'Ifrit (Ifreet).

For most NMs, just google their names. Looking up how to pronounce mythological creatures takes an amazing 4 seconds. Hell, there's a Tagalog-named NM somewhere in there.
Stuff like Bahamut CAN be tricky though. It's pretty clear FF's Bahamut is based off of Dungeons and Dragons version, rather than the Arabic whale one. So you might have to look at multiple sources.

Haidate. Pretty simple Japanese. "hi-DAH-tay" Had a few people in my shell say it like "HAY-date"
Byakko. "by-AH-koh" Had someone say something along the lines of Byakoko, or something. This shell had a drinking problem.
Suzaku. "soo-ZAH-koo" Head it pronounced "SOO-zuh-koo"
I don't really nag people for not saying Seiryu with the d because I know a lot of people who literally can't say it like that.
"BAH-ha-moot" bugs me. I've always said "ba-HA-mut"
Silly Americans, it's not "tay" when it's "te" at the end.

It seems to be a matter of accent. American = -tay. Japanese = -te.

Zilart-related stuff is weird too. Anyone know if their names have any cultural basis or if they're just randomly made up crap?
Seems like someone just mashed the keyboard and added an apostrophe to get their names.

Who cares?
At the end of the day, it's just a game. Why worry about something so trivial?
I really don't like the actual names of some places in the game anyway. Because of this I've added my own personal names.
La Theine Plateau = "La-Tha-Neen Plateau"
Sauromugue Champaign = "Sorrow-Mong Champaign"

I'm incapable of pronouncing most English words correctly... and I'm born and raised here in America (I have an auditory processing disorder so just get these things wrong time after time after time... I tend to pronounce things exactly as they are spelled, even if I've heard it 'correctly' a million times)
Its one reason I absolutely abhor using vent or skype... can't stand trying to pronounce these things, or listening to others... it just sounds soooo weiiird and wrooooong XD

Haha. When I clicked into this thread, the first thing that came to mind was 'This has to be a thread by Beel' because of the title. I will admit it's funny to see how his threads play out.

Hessie-voot is the correct pronunciation of my name.
j/k I'm from Iowa, we say it how it looks. Except Roof (Ruuf) and Creek (Crick).
Aquilo's Staff = A-Key-oh!
Somebody help me with Khimaira! I've always said "Kie-mare-uh"
Gjallarhorn = G-horn. Too hard to pronounce.

I had a friend once pronounce Joyeuse joy-OOH-see...
The worst part was that he was Canadian, and should have had a rudimentary understanding of French...
Examples: Askar and Homam sets.
