I've only done Maat on WHM, too easy, too weak.

Nin Dnc and Rng were my fav jobs,

I did maat on smn and then rdm on my mule... I have no idea why people say rdm maat is hard, had no issues with full af, +2 int rings, red cape and a few other random things. Ended with enough mp left that being a taru wasn't a deciding factor.

I love Sevvy, hes an awsome whm and mostly didn't get hit by Lunar Dynamo... You have no idea how rare whms that can manage that are.

I really like Cor and Rng, but my LS has plenty of those and playing it costs gil that i'd rather be spending on reaching other goals, so i'm pretty much forever a BRD these days but i've grown to love it.

Oh I don't disappear for long, I just wait for the right topics to come up lol, most I can't say anything for.

RDM has always been my "main job," although I have several favorites.^^

I think it's an issue of confidence. After playing through the game a 2nd time for your mule (I'm assuming this happened back when leveling was slow), you probably had more than twice the amount of experience that most people do when they fight Maat for the first time--their perception of the exact same fight would be very different.

For example! I also went 1/1 on my Maat fight as a nooby RDM with terrible gear, but for me it was really scary. o.o; Although nothing especially bad happened during the fight, it still seemed reeeaaally hard since I was still getting a feel for the game--things like being able to start casting before an enemy's multihit attack animations finish, knowing when it's OK to start moving again when a spell is almost finished casting, keeping track of buff/debuff duration without windower (yay PS2 back then), etc. These things are all second-nature after you've spent enough time playing (especially if you've had much experience trying to cast spells with a mob beating on your face), but leveling just one job to 70 won't necessarily get you there. This is especially true for jobs whose function is so drastically different when solo as opposed to being in an xp party. :o

I just ran in, slept him > buffed up > chainspell nuke > sleep again > convert/cures > more chainspell nukeage.

Everyone I've known who had problems has tried to do the whole kite and nuke thing which jsut seems overly difficult.

I feel like someone lacking in confidence would be hesitant to start the fight without putting buffs up first. I know I was lol :X

I will do my best to beat him and yes i do not have alot of confidence in my playing skills yet and i will be getting a few jobs to 70 first and will be getting some crafting up :D

Don't worry too much about the fight. Regardless of what happens, you'll get him eventually.

Skystrider is nice, if you can get ahold of a Supremcy Earring which is a task in itself. Eight (I believe) notorious monsters in La Vaule (Davoi in the past) just to get the key items for the battle to get the earring. Managed to get 4/8 of the key items so far myself, but... /sigh I have about as much chance of getting that earring as I do in getting Nocturnal set. That which I think would look so sweet on my Galka.

This is true Carrelo, since I have a Mithra, a Hume and a Taru glued to me.

You just need a galka and an elvaan to compleate your collection.
