PlayOnline music has been added to orchestrions and the login menu. Yeeeeaah ayyy ay!

Honestly, I wish they did add the song Tribune to the Orchestrion. It's one of the best songs in the game and it's almost exclusively used for POL.

That track and the song from the old legal section are great.

Dynamis Xarcabard has a remixed (orchestrated) version of the Shadow Lord theme that sounds pretty neat.

It's specifically the Record Keeper's version, if anyone else is interested.

I miss the global version of that game! They have/had some absolutely Amazing song remixes.

So much effort for such a short, soon-to-fade event.
Dunno, mixed feelings.

But I don't wanna spoil the fun for anybody so let's try to stay positive I guess!

Idk, people are allowed to have fun at their jobs. And some of these are really really good. Like, maybe a few of them might have went over people's heads? Shows SE is paying attention to player discussions and behavior far more than we might realize, and they at least have a good sense of humor when it comes to viral memes.

I mentioned the Kam'lanaut meme where he is trolling players for thinking Moon Phase, Day, Time, Direction theories with crafting has any effect, is a clear nod to Gene Wilder's popular viral meme. Thats absolutely hilarious IMO. This reminds me of the Taisajin lore that SE tossed into the game because of player rumors. Super Tuned in with the player landscape, i love it!

(p.s. I haven't figured out what those two hearts and life bar are supposed to represent, an inside joke or something else?)

There's also this little nugget, which I think could have a double meaning

It's well-known that the Ashu Talif boat is not immediately accessible via Home Points or Waypoints; there is a little bit of walking involved. You'd have to be living under a rock to not join a random PUG and notice people just "instantly" appearing on the boat or nearby. Is this a tongue-in-cheek nod to the fact that SE knows players position hack to the boat for this BC because walking to it is slightly inconvenient? Even if I'm reading too much into it, it's still funny they realize how inconvenient traveling to this boat is, and knew enough of the player's views on it to crack a joke at it. Kind of interesting IMO.

Then there's this one:

How cool would it be to see who cooked the food you bought? I laughed.

And then the WHM/RDM relax spell? Just freaking gold man. We will re-haste you in just a second, you'll be fine xD

The only thing I wish they would have cracked a joke about is something involving Exemplar Points and ML50 players, suggesting they know nearly nobody has hit that rank legitimately. Anyways, this April Fool's thing shows they can take a joke and be playful with us, and it also shows a very creative side. I hope this translates into some more unique ideas later on, since they clearly have someone with silly but cool ideas.

Dunno, mixed feelings.

I see it the other way, honestly. If they're willing to insert this many things for April fools, they clearly have someone who is getting comfortable with a few aspects of the codebase. I would interpret it to mean that prior lack of content is due to lack of man hours or the need to familiarize new staff with the codebase, rather than them inserting a ton of man-hours for April fools.

I'd call it a good sign.

I completely agree. Raminel's food delivery service is as old as FFXI itself. If him using homepoints is new, thanks to SE for demonstrating they can still make changes to 20 year old code! Let's hope they keep it up! :D

The following auto-translate phrase has been updated.

This years event has more effort put into it, to be actually useful instead of just fun jokes. There is a very western feel to many of the jokes, I get the impression the community managers had a lot of input into it.

Lungo thesis from shami's chest gives 5k~ exemplar, basically convert 30 sacred orb to 5k exemplar, not bad

Don't forget that Phobos Orbs are rewards from Deeds of Heroism (monthly RoE) at a relatively low number of total deeds: 80 and 560. I had a couple still sitting on the AMAN Validator unused on each of my characters, good time to clean those out.

I've seen Cid by the mineral veins and Gumbah by the table, and Apururu Karaha-Baruha on the rock in the pond and Ajido-Marujido at the edge of the pond looking at her him. The assortment changed when picking up flotsam, but not when just inspecting garden furrows.

I'm not sure if they're NPCs, or just like... effects, like the Gusgen Mines ghosts? They're not targetable, at least not that I saw, but they did seem to have collision. They're not all loaded at once; allseeingeye didn't reveal the whole collection waiting behind the curtain, just the two that were actually supposed to be there. Maybe it's a thing where they reposition them and change the models, which would be a bit of a departure from the usual "just slap down another dozen NPCs" approach.

On the beach in the Mog Garden, I saw King Destin in a special, cool-looking armour that I cannot remember seeing elsewhere, along with Princess Claidie I d'Oraguille. If you zone to your Monster Rearing beach, and go back again, the NPCs will change. This is an easy way to see the models without the painful process of entering/exiting the garden.

Edit: Correction! It is not King Destin, but the "Dragon King" Ranperre R d'Oraguille.

This April Fool's is seriously awesome. I want to see more of these NPCs. Someone told me they got Cid....but any more pics?

It is not King Destin. Ranperre is part of a cutscene wearing this suit of armour, but I cannot find which one. He is Destin's grandfather, and Claidie's great grandfather.

I'd like to know what CS if anyone can find it. I don't recall ever seeing Ranperre at all. It also seems weird to have this duo together, given the time gap

King Ranperre appears in San D'Oria Mission 9-2. I believe this is the only time he is seen in the game, and can be seen at the 1:06:00 mark in the video. My theory is that Ranperre and Claidie were paired to represent the past and future of the San D'Orian monarchy.

Ah, thank you! I remember this now. I also remember wanted city missions to be more relevant past Rank 6 (and Rank 10, as well).
