New games suck... or is it just me?
And with all of them at same time too.

RadialArcana said: » Years ago these games were aimed squarely at children, now they are aimed at 30-40 year olds. The children of "years ago" are today's 30 - 40 YOs. As K123 said, that's the thing of it.
Modern children are into other things, roblox, fortnite, minecraft, youtube and tiktok. So all the things that kids liked 20-30 years ago stopped being relevent to modern children, and now it's just the adults that used to like them as kids still liking them. That's almost the entire business model of nintendo, disney and lego in 2025. The only kids really playing this stuff are kids whose parents are heavily into them, and in effect make their kids like it cause the kids don't want to disappoint them. Like a dad that is into hunting and the daughter pretends to like it, even though she hates it but she wants to keep him happy and likes spending time with him in the thing he enjoys. Nintendo remakes the same 4-5 franchises because they have the fanbase loyal enough to buy whatever they sell. Why would they spend time giving mario or donkey kong a different look and alienate those people? They aren't alone by any means, but their brand loyalty is probably the strongest in the industry. They've made "inferior" consoles for generations and done just fine.
Do people really play Donkey Kong games though? Surely it's barely a few % of the people that play Mario and Zelda?

If they do remake FF9, do you think they will keep in the scene where Zidane gropes Sarah's bum? Or is this rapey/MeToo/misogynistic in 2025 and must go?

They removed the cigarette for cid in ff7 r and they put a dress on Siren in the ff8 remaster. Square Enix are turbo cucks, so yes. @1minute 30 RadialArcana said: » they put a dress on Siren in the ff8 remaster. That is a skirt, not a dress. but I still think your final conclusion is correct. If Zidane doesn't sexually molest Sarah early in their meeting, how will she fall in love with him later?? It is part of building the story and the narrative and the interpersonal relationship between them and other characters (i.e. Steiner doesn't see it or he would have kicked off, etc.). That skirt aint hiding anything but bush.
The undershirt they added to Tifa was worse. K123 said: » If Zidane doesn't sexually molest Sarah early in their meeting, how will she fall in love with him later?? Wait, if you sexually molest people they will fall in love with you? Damn, I gotta try this out at my gym! Only if they're 16 and lived a sheltered life in a castle.
Whelp there we go crisis averted.
Switch 2 will be $489 and they'll be able to get it in before dipshit can cause any more chaos. ![]() Haters gonna hate hate hate... Right....after all the supply chain disruption, cargo stuck at port, cancelled orders, forced liquidation which caused liquidity issues in the market. Criticism on policy is 100% justified.

Definitely not out of the woods yet since the original failing tariffs are still in place. This is the problem with announcing policy on social media.
Nintendo is still radio silent on when North America will get their preorders. But it's selling out in the UK already. Viciouss said: » Pretty accurate picture, it's all in his head. I ruled out the Switch 2 before they even announced it. I haven't touched my Switch since I finished TOTK, and see no reason to invest in a "new" system that might see one quality game a year. Two at most.

The censorship is the problem, not only because the dress looks bad (and goes against the nature of what siren is supposed to be in the first place) but because it shows the prudish nature of the management and how they will self censor all the games they make from here on out. The only reason you know they are censoring and have this mindset is they are a remaster/remake and you can compare, new games will never have anything they consider to be problematic in them from the start. They employ western people who check everything they make to modern western standards. Square Enix became successful because they were never a prudish company and this appealed to people who enjoyed that, now they are. Which is amusing because their merch dept obviously have not got the message yet and are still making overpriced female t&a statues for their fans. Square don't seem to get that their fanbase likes things they are now unwilling to now offer them, not only are they utterly irrelevant to younger audiences but they are quietly alienating their actual adult audience too. All the characters in the franchise are so loved because they were made to be so appealing and over the top, the modern ones are just bland trash quickly forgotten. Ff15 was a sign of how uncomfortable SE are adding female characters now (which was utterly insane), and they did massive damage to their brand by doing it. Ff16 was an attempt to become a western developer and remove themselves from what FF is completely, Yoshida had to be forced to even add moogles and chocbos. The company is out of its mind and has no strong leadership, if they want to see what kind of customers they have they just need to look at how perverted ff14 is. They also have no new talent at all and part of that is because they give their developers no freedom, and all the actual names they have left are a few years away from retirement. Switch 2 has my money when they announce a Switch 2 only Xenoblade game. Basically the same reason Nintendo got my money for Switch 1. Buy your switch games and then emulate them on a PC. I'm sorry to hear that you played TOTK on Switch 1... Switch emulators absolutely blow the Switch out of the water, even on low performance systems. The Switch 1 was using outdated hardware when it was released. I don't expect much in terms of hardware performance out of the Switch 2 either.
Emulation of Switch 2 quality should also be easily done on modern hardware (3060 or better). Since both Ampere and A78 are five years old already it won't be hard to work out how to emulate the capabilities of the new chip either.
