If they charge enough money for it, it'll put a cost on players who want to show up to every event looking completely different. But even though I wouldn't need it myself, I could definitely see why someone might want to change their race or something.
They might even ultimately make it once ever, like the whole one-time item-restoration thing if you accidentally threw out your Aegis.

Think of the confusion it would've caused in 2005. All the player transfer warnings would've been goofed up.

When I had buddies come back to the game during the pandemic I changed my .dat of my mithra to a taru and i played like that for such a long time and i shared my whole windower folder to everyone that came back so they all saw me as a taru for the longest time

They're still debating on if they charge any money or not. Do not preemptively toss money at them for stuff you would get for free like those idiots begging SE for a cash shop in XIV did. The only reason I could justify a charge would be if somebody was spamming the race changes, so the charge would be free every (week, month, patch?) and idiots who can't wait have to pay.

It was funny watching people try and sleuth it out though back in the day like "A new Hume 4A appeared with Aegis, Ridill, Armadaberk" etc and people would be like "Holy crap, that's actually Ghfhdfjjkjhf from LeviaQuetz! He left here after stealing 3 Monti's and the Linkshell's Dusk Loincloth +1!"

They already charge for this in FFXIV. No chance they would offer it for free in XI.

Plot twist: need to win every master trial within a week from first to last to get the one-time-use item to change race. Can't lose a fight or you have to restart the streak.
IF you listen to the video he says they are mainly doing it for foreigners, cause of lgbt concerns lol They don't know people just like to change their character size, hair, face, race, for cosmetic reasons etc

They already charge for this in FFXIV. No chance they would offer it for free in XI.
B) We have consistently gotten things for free in XI that SE charges for with the cash shop in XIV.
C) The reason the cash shop XIV was made was due to idiots begging to be able to buy event items out of season when fixv would just redo events like they do in XI. SE is just tossing this stuff at you and has consistently been tossing stuff at you that xiv charges for to this day.
If it's free, it will be free cause it will cost too much to add a payment > database integration system.

I can see a "once every six months / year" restriction on the "Free" change with the rest being the same cost as a world transfer.
