NEW (only?) 3-4step Skillchain Guide All Weapons*

I'll just put this here.

Already addressed that in in YT comment section, but Great Axe has Darkness skillchain and its pretty good darkness skillchain too.

Why 3-4 step when you can 6 step Radiance?

Best skillchain combo there is.

Depends what skillchains and WSs you are using for it. For example if you are using weak WSs and 3+ Lv1 skillchains to build up, then it can be a huge dps loss. Mob can also have strong resist or even absorb of few elements, so only specific lv2 or lv3 skillchains might be efective. Doing 99k Radiance at the end means nothing if you make few 10k WSs and 15k skillchains to get there. Jobs like DNC also have big skillchains bonus and there is no reason to go for 6 step, when 3 and/or 4 step Darkness is already doing cap damage. Also 6 steps can be problematic if mob has stun/paralyze/slow (even if you get slowed/paralyzed for few seconds before healer will take it off, it can still be enough to break 6 step). Mob can also have strong TP moves that you dont want to get hit with in your WS set. In 3 and 4 step you have more room to time WSs instead of trying to keep up with time remaining till end of the skillchain window.

Well, that plus the fact that, unless you are the solo DD, it's near impossible to make a 6 step SC.

I only attempt it when I'm on WAR in Omen and a 7 step skillchain is an objective. I generally hit it then.

Full break -> Upheaval -> Ukko's Fury -> Upheaval = Radiance.

Full Break > Upheaval > King's Justice > Upheaval.

Ukko's Fury has the same light properties as Upheaval, so you would be double light at step 3.

5 step would add King's Justice before Full Break.

IMO: The correlation of the elements is the only thing one needs to memorize.
When you see an effect, and you're on a job, you should know what the elements of the different WSs you currently have available are.



I realize that there are probably a few new BLU spells and SMN bloodpacts that are missing on this chart. Haven't gotten around to update it since i returned to the game.

Check out the calculator. I have used and loved this for years. Not only does it allow you to build sets, there is also a function that lets you explore skillchains for up to 6(I think) weapons. It's a pretty great tool for that.
