Would frankly just buy a aeonic clear if available then spend any time on weapon augmenting, did that dance with doomsday and oseem can be even worse due to the rng of the whole thing
I couldnt see this anywhere, but after doing a few simple tests the WS CHR +3% on Crep knife appears to be added to ranged weaponskills as well
CG on your knife.
Have you found a strong use for it yet? Offline

Hey all! Thanks so much for the great discussion in this thread that's helped as I built out my RNG :)
I built and R15'd my Annihilator first and am going to be working on Fomalhaut for the bullets after finishing my current Aeonic. I love being able to spam Coro at 1k nonstop and this has been my go-to for content lately. This is the current Coronach build I'll be looking to build, eventually will look to upgrade to +2 neck when I have the $$$. My question is, does Beithir ring beat out Ilabrat ring for Coronach? On paper it seems to. Also, I've settled on Odr being the best for my other ear but am I missing a better option? Thanks :) ItemSet 388250 Shiva.Flowen said: » I couldnt see this anywhere, but after doing a few simple tests the WS CHR +3% on Crep knife appears to be added to ranged weaponskills as well Adding to my Coronach questions, would crepuscular knife be better than Tern with its DEX and AGI +15 and 3% CHR WS modifier? DEX/AGI/CHR +15, CHR WS +3% vs. ~AGI +10-15, WSD +5% Asura.Otomis

Most set show Rng cape to be AGI on midshot. BUT, does Str not directly increase ranged attack and Agi increases ranged accuracy and Ranged crit. Assuming the crit outweighs the attack by that much, even with newer hoover shot ability?

Figuring it to add 2-3% crit, hence the "~". From BGwiki, Confirmed on other sites concerning Ranged Attack. Unlike Ranged Accuracy, it is not a flat 75%, but instead 1-1. https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Ranged_Attack Wiki needs some work.
https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Strength Quote: For ranged weapons: STR increases Ranged Attack at a rate of 75% (3 Attack per 4 STR). When I get a chance we get around to testing and fixing stuff. More importantly, doesn't Ranged attacks get fSTR instead of fSTR2? Like basically everything has a 50% STR bonus attached.

IF you feel the need to make another cape for STR/Crit rate instead of AGI/crit rate, then go wild. Gun's lower base damage means that the use of fSTR2 has a lower cap for damage increase than bows since they don't use ammo for weapon rank calculations. This kind of thinking primarily would support the idea of a bow enthusiast, you'd be loose cannon wild man daring to be different! If you're really looking to get big damage out of ranged, you're really looking for your supports to give you big atk up/def down. The extra 30 atk being make or break seems less of a concern than if you hit. Someone who loves spreadsheets could probably tell us when and where it could, but for the most part, I don't think you'll see a notable difference on your midshot damage outside of Gandiva/Yoichinoyumi use. When I get a chance we get around to testing and fixing stuff. Quick test just swapping Str rings, having no other stat, and using /checkparam, Each +1 Str did show +1 Ranged Attack. I'm gathering the last of my Silver Vouchers for the month and a random thought popped into my head. If I saw a Nisroch Jerkin drop, would I give it to my RNG or my wife's COR?
Relic body is amazing for when double shot is up, Empy body is amazing for when it's down for the extra large attack, possible PDL, and very minorly the 2 piece set bonus. Is Nisroch actually better than either of them for AM3 sets? COR has a very good triple shot body, but it's not up after often as double shot without RD helping out. When it's down, then your go to is the Meg Body, unless I'm missing something. The trueshot isn't really going to get used on a COR, but Crit +10 isn't bad. It feels like Nisroch has been outclassed. I'd love dissenting points of view. Bahamut.Celebrindal

Nisroch remains a monster "in the right moments". Aftermath up, Doubleshot down of course is the primary time it gets to shine. If you frequently use Annihilator, Gandiva, or Armageddon, I'd highly suggest holding on to it.
If your wife's COR needs a better midshot body, there's only one answer: Ikenga. Ikenga should be your entire focus for both jobs, in getting multiple pieces up to R20/25 as able. Its a vastly superior midshot set for CORs, as they don't get the enmity mitigation tools RNG gets, and Malignance has zero -enmity...while the Ikenga set is just overflowing with it. Malig also has zero +ranged attack, and COR is definitely attack-starved. RNG, though able to gear for +ratk a lot longer, has more +PDL traits and thus needs more +ratk to fill that glass. Back on the Nisroch- "True Shot" utilization is a lot more frequent on RNG than COR, and as such I think RNG can actually benefit from sets built to abuse that, while COR just so rarely can. Not saying COR can't make a lot of good with a Nisroch, but if you're really picking, I still view it as a better RNG piece. Offline

Would anyone be so kind as to recommend what would be the current BIS preshot set? Assuming no flurry. Thanks in advance

Someone could correct. Edit: Quote goes to Jackey... Commenting comment... you know the rest. Thanks! Much appreciated. So looks like it’s the same old set still then ?

Pretty much, only real change has been +2/3 empy body and crep ring, you have a bit of wiggle room in what to use in belt/ring/neck due to snapshot merits giving a native 10% and the total cap of 70
Also, if you’re using Perun+1 augmented in your main hand, that gives Snapshot+5, which will allow for more wiggle room to swap other snapshot stuff out for more Rapid Shot

I think I end up with over 20 different sets lol The rule is always cap snapshot and velocity shot (if velocity shot is active) and then just do as much rapid shot as you can from there. |
