This was confirmed in previous monthly update threads. The chance of the rainbow on entry is so low that I guess it makes sense that it could happen to any chest other than mimic and terminal.
Hopefully you got more than just a scale and a void piece lol

Can confirm - Moogle Amps are considered Loud Thud Drops! Out of 250+ Orbs done these last few months, the first time I've seen this.

The only other strategy that is really worthwhile is stopping if you get a Loud Thud.
I have done hundred of runs (many many mules), I did get a triple Loud Thud, Two of them were back to back from same rainbow chest. The drop was Ashera's.
I basically do loud thud or bust now, out of the 6 orbs i did this month 5 was bust, 1 was loud thud for an nq cursed item lol
The real name of the game is: "What are the odds of the mimic being the same chest, 7 orbs in a row?" Cause that ***gets old quick.

After they "fixed" Trove, there is many more loud thuds. Most Loud Thuds I get are total junk...I get 1% good ***...but I do a high volume of orbs. Its really a numbers game. Do 200 orbs, and do same exact zone, time of day, and opening pattern. Keep everything consistent.

There is only one mimic so those are your odds. The strategy is to pick the chest that you think is the mimic, open every other chest and then leave. There really aren't any choices or decisions you can make to affect the outcome other than clearing the board. That's how it goes with games of chance. Odds work for and against you at the same time. Is it lucky to be struck by lightning 3 times?
Someone goes into trove for the first time, opens a loud thud on the first chest and walks out with a Shamash Robe. He then proceeds to use his next orb, gets another first chest loud thud and this time exits to nothing in the loot pool but a job card from the center chest. Trove dropped him another Shamash Robe but he never saw it in the treasure pool because he already had one...

That’s why you always enter with a mule. Not an alt, not a friend, a mule that’s naked so that the correct treasure pool can load.

I play a single account. Outside of bringing other people along when possible, there is zero reason to pay for another account just so I can see the gear drop. If I already had it... I already knew it was something I didn't need.
