Cardian: Discord/FFXI Integration
I'm using:
luvit version: 2.15.0 luvi version: v2.9.1 discordia version: 2.6.0 At time of install, I had openssl connection issues using the latest release of luvit and had to downgrade to get it working. Good news, I finally got it running! Thanks for the help everyone.
![]() had used it before but got new pc and didn't back up files, I tried getting it running today with Gippos instructions but its not working. Everything installed correctly and I have a discord bot in my server but when I load cardian nothing launches. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
edit: Nevermind I figured it out. ![]() No one of the things I was trying to get pushed was unity chat, so that I could monitor DI from my linkshell, but the issue is that unity chat comes over as coded messages that the game somehow unpacks.
0a,01f3,0000000a,00000031,00000121,00000001,00000001, 0a,01f1,0000000a,0000002f,00000121,00000001,00000001, 0a,01ee,0000000a,0000002c,00000121,000008a2,00003cd5, I've figured out what they all mean, but its super annoying and wasn't worth the time trying to translate that into a real message. ![]() I still can't get it to work. I followed Gippo's directions and the window closes immediately. When I give it admin permission it actually makes the bot say hello in discord, then closes. I can't get the bot to stay active.
Help? ![]() (Months later)
I got cardian working. Worked great. Then I sold that PC and I'm trying to get it running on my laptop. Anyone have the time in the next several evenings to collab. and help me get it working? I can get the bot to activate, everything appears to be setup properly, but I can't get Discord to output to FFXI, nor FFXI to output to Discord. I'm not sure what else there is to check. See if this guide I wrote helps you:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mx8ZnjLslYlWD5ealUjYvLDgNplzu5aLir5bxTjwODs/edit?usp=sharing I can't really help beyond this. Thanks. Thank you so much Gippo. I'll test it when I get home. I tried everything to find this guide again. It was what I used to get it working on my desktop. I can already tell one thing that I'll have to change that is not clear, without this guide, is the "admin" ID. Not sure what else will have to change, but so glad you shared this guide again. Thanks. **EDIT:** On page 2 I made the mistake of using cmd.exe instead of PowerShell. 'Start-Process' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. ...No idea what is up with that. I'm digging around on the internet but I'm stuck at page 2 of your guide: "open windows Powershell as admin and navigate to the folder you just made, then type: Start-Process -FilePath "Full path to luvi.exe" -ArgumentList "lit.zip -- make lit.zip lit.exe luvi.exe" -Wait -NoNewWindow (you will know this worked when you see lit.exe in the folder)" I don't remember running into this problem before. Also, i'm hesitant to follow the old guide from gamergiving since I remember this process working and the gamergiving guide just has you type a powershell command to download it directly from github: 'https://github.com/luvit/lit/raw/master/get-lit.ps1' His command installs properly, but I'm guessing the version of lit in your instructions is what made the difference on my desktop. Thank you so much Gippo. You're amazing. This worked perfectly. Got my beautiful discord bot up and running. :D You told me you play vanilla.

![]() Doesn't seem like the repositories exist anymore or have been set to private, unfortunately.

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AgtswPy4kOd2oHRXClFk5VWuM4A2?e=E7M3Zz I dont play anymore, put these somewhere else. Anyone running the original will probably want to ensure you strip out semi-colons and other sanitization unless you want people sending potentially harmful commands to the character doing the relaying.
Followed Gippo's guide from start to finish, but can't seem to get discord and ffxi to talk to one another.
The bot itself is active in discord and set with admin rights. It sends off the "Cardians, assemble! Cardian reporting for duty!" in the appropriate channel when the in-game addon is loaded. Quote: C:\Cardian-Discord>luvit cardian_bot.lua 2024-02-03 13:44:00 | [INFO] | Discordia 2.11.2 2024-02-03 13:44:00 | [INFO] | Connecting to Discord... 2024-02-03 13:44:00 | [INFO] | Authenticated as BotName#3873 2024-02-03 13:44:00 | [INFO] | Launching shard 0 (1 out of 1)... 2024-02-03 13:44:01 | [INFO] | Shard 0 : Connected to wss://gateway.discord.gg 2024-02-03 13:44:01 | [INFO] | Shard 0 : Received HELLO 2024-02-03 13:44:01 | [INFO] | Shard 0 : Received READY Logged in as BotName The in-game addon is picking up what's being said in the "to_discord.txt" file. Quote: ls__**Ignored**__: ```12:45:20] [1]test``` ls__**Ignored**__: ```12:45:28] [1]hello world?``` On the discord side, tried a "/l test" and nothing seems to be returned in game. It also doesn't appear to be picking up any of the !commands like !shouts and !noshouts in various other channels. Not sure what I may be missing or where to troubleshoot short of starting over from scratch. Anyone successfully using this in 2024? Managed to get it working! Starting over helped, as well as taking an earlier suggestion to use an earlier version of luvit.
Now to tweak it- 1. Does anyone know how to get Japanese characters to display correctly over discord? In-game message: Quote: ソーティDエリア殲滅 募:前前支回 2/6 現:ナコ is coming up in discord as: Quote: ?\?[?e?BD?G???A?r?? ???F?O?O?x?? 2/6 ???F?i?R 2. I'm having trouble getting messages sent through discord to input to linkshell#2 instead of linkshell#1. I was hoping it was just a minor tweak in a lua somewhere, but I've been unsuccessful in getting it to output correctly. Any ideas? 3. Has anyone had any luck getting a discord display name to appear in game as opposed to their discord user IDs? I imagine some may not want their BigDong69420 usernames popping up in-game when they send chat over discord. 4. Any way to deal with the RMT spam? Term Filter, blacklist, doesn't matter- addon will still pickup RMT messages and broadcast to discord. |
