If you're saying I would benefit from a healthier game? No ***. But it wouldn't be just to my benefit. It benefits everyone except the people already benefiting from the current state of the game by server smuggling. But spoiler; this is one of those things that works either way. Happy players spend money because they want to keep playing and obtaining shinies. Unhappy players spend money because they're stuck and have to keep playing so they want to make it as painless as possible. Offline

Its The Same Concept to Increased Populations lead to more Food Consumption. If the game cant support all those people Then it leads to Famine and in turn leads to Death.

Having a unified auction house and access to larger population for making groups would be a boon. There are many avenues they could take to alleviate congestion, sharding is one. Do you honestly think they are going to spend money on a new physical server? They wouldn't be able to do what you are asking with the game as it is now they would need to recode a lot of it which again takes money. I'm pointing out from my original post about this that Eiryl is against a server merge simply because it will affect his RMT business. I'm stating that he only actually cares about that. Not the game, not the enjoyment others get from it, but rather, his profits. Him acting like it is ANYTHING else is hilarious. I didn't respond right away to his simply because unlike him, I do other things in my day other than watch bots and this forum 24/7. A server merge doesn't make sense for three major reasons.
#1 SE makes bank on server transfers. #2 The game is designed in such a way that a massive population is no longer needed for players to progress. #3 Congestion. Fenrir is annoyingly congested at times and we're "dead" according to some. Honestly, what I would love to see not just in XI, but all MMOs, would simply be the ability to choose any server when you log in and not be stuck. Runescape got that right in 2000. Why haven't any games followed suit? Leviathan.Celebrindal

Some people like living in the Country, and some like living in the City. But if you happen to not like where you live, you save up, find a new place you do like, and move.
There's nothing wrong with there being the bustling metropolis's of Bahamut and Asura, along with the sleepy towns of Leviathan and others. If you choose to be on a small server, its because things like instant access to any BC or ambuscade without queue, empyrean weapon farming without competition 90% of the time, or long-standing personal ties keep you there more than a convenient Auction House. Of course there are problems and frustrations with being on a small server- but its not like the big boys are Xanadu. We get to see those complaints by actual citizens of those servers almost daily here. You know what you rarely see? The actual residents of those small servers bitching...and its definitely a lower frequency than both big server people complaining about where they are, or speculating about how bad life must be on those other ghost towns. Leave choice in place. I used to wish for a unified AH, and I still think that would be the greatest gift to small server people- much better than more unwanted forced mergers. But if some day the only choice is the current system or a single server, I'd choose what we have 100 times. I am 100% for server merges. I simply understand why they won't happen and stated such. (Making 1 AH for all servers would work, too. Also will not happen) Offline

Since your RMT activity would be affected (and in sort if you did lose the ability to profit off the game, you wouldn't resub next month) should deter you from server merging. So backing of said server merge is basically you just committing financial suicide. Enough of it though, I'm through wasting anymore time with you. Continue with your ***posting on every topic. I mean, Eiryl made some valid points, IMO. Also, why wouldn't someone be focused on self interest? That's a valid stance too. May not be your stance, but it isn't any less valid.
Also, RMT actions are not dictated by server merging/separations, they are dictated by buyers. Simply, if no one purchases, no business is to be made. 500 buyers across 10 servers or 500 buyers on 1 server. Only thing is Eiryl might save money on shifting gil around. That being said, I'm over RMT complaints. They exist and they aren't going anywhere. There are so many ways to make gil in the game now, really an RMT is a RTT (Real Time Trader). They are saving people the time it takes to make gil by providing the gil up front. And actually, that has value to people with busy lifestyles. I'm not advocating for RMT, I'm just sharing a perspective. Also, I don't mind Eiryl :P Asura.Beatsbytaru

For someone that doesn't care about RMT you've typed a lot of words over it. If you wanna *** Eiryl so bad just DM him.

if you have to rule out server merges, even tho that's been their solution multiple times in the past, then it doesn't mean you couldn't try a different approach to solve the population problem on certain servers.
for instance restrict imigration to the largest server for a couple of months or add a cooldown to servers the jumper just departured from so he can't hop right back to his original server. a jumper could still decide to keep auction house hoping, he'd just have to make more layovers. he could also decide to sit the cooldown out, in the meantime he'll probably participate in content cause he doesn't want to miss out on all the time gated rewards. either way it would at least have a positive effect on the individual server economies/auction houses. There are a plethora of solutions, some better than others. But they all fail the same basic test. They lose money.
There is no possible solution that breaks even. Or comes out ahead. Before you think of literally anything, it must not lose a single cent of revenue. Offline

There is some unknown level of acceptable loss, but only as a response to pressure that is clearly not being applied to them. Announcing the next version update isn't looking too promising, is it?
They probably going to do a live stream thing to announce whatever it is, but it wont be implemented for a while I'm sure

They do it, so they could post monthly update news in usual time without spoiling what they do for anniversary. My disappointment meter is starting to fill. That patch teaser is looking meager. For whatever reason, I was putting a lot of stock in the patch teaser having a picture of the new Valhalla zone.
I don't want a metaphorical Mandragora t-shirts to be the event please god. :( As far as I know, they've only ever said "this year" when talking about the big new endgame and Empy +3 for the anniversary.
Every month; "Just stay subbed one more month! It's coming!"
