Anyone think the amount of objectives cleared affects mega boss drops? Anyone been able to clear all the mini-objecrtives on 1-2-4?

Without an Idris Geo, the groups I'm in just don't have enough time to kill him with the vast majority of our time spent turned around. Not even debuff spamming is helping much. The moment you see painsync deal damage (black cloud under the players appear), you have time for 1 (2 if you're fast) attack rounds before the next TP move. It's probably possible to risk a WS during this time, but I've been avoiding it in case there is a lag issue. We do RUN/DRK WHM BRD GEO WAR / DRK (me) DRK/WAR/ect (other DD) I switch to Sword + Shield and do Savage Blade whenever he's reading a TP move that isn't Pain Sync, Savage's usually do 30K+. The reason I switch to Sword and board is that my Auto-Attack damage isn't so bad that it instantly one shots everyone in case lag cause's me to do an attack round before the PS animation becomes visible. Melee hits are only like 500~600 and crits about ~1K so it's survivable with a -DT set. Also above 50% HP you need to actively feed it TP because it's regain is really slow and only WS's at 3000TP but under 50% it starts to speed up and then under 25% it's non-stop back to back. For mage setups we just bury it in debuffs, recently was. RUN (Rua our tank) RDM (me) GEO (Inu) SCH RNG SMN Inu would toss Impact on while I kept Dia III, Addle II, Distract III, Frazzle III, Blind, Slow II, Paralyze II, and Poison III. It's WoP only removed 1~2 debuffs so you can just keep them on and while it can still do PS, it will do them less frequently. If it has 3 or more debuffs it likes to use WoP. Do note that they use the Reikekon (sp) sword with the Regain on it so they get TP while turned around. The Savage blade technique does work beautifully. Odin.Llewelyn said: » <25% Thinker isn't too hard to get a safe 4=step Radiance off on SAM with Meditate up, really. In between back to back pain syncs? I'd like to see that. (I realize with yaeg, it is, and maybe after a non painsync WS, but normally?) Keep it debuffed. The frequency of pain sync goes way down. I've never seen it used back to back ever since I started spamming debuffs on it.
Instance 1:
Instance 2: Instance 3: Instance 4: Have more, but you get the idea. Only one of those had him attempt to Pain Sync in the middle of the Skillchain, but yeah. It's not hard to Radiance Thinker under 25% HP on SAM with Meditate. Oh, that's what you mean. Yeah, that's not too bad. I thought you were saying that you can do a 4 step inbetween back to back pain syncs (which is what the original question I was referring to, as in what to do with painsync->painsync during spam time <30%.)

Did a fight with Fu where an unfortunate series of events caused us to wipe at 75%. He full recovered. When we recovered, and went back in to engage and try and kill him. When we engaged, he was enraged, spamming his full dispel move, draw-ins, and his damaging moves (claws, blizzaga IV, etc.) Is it possible that you can't wipe and recover? Or did we just wipe at a wrong point in time that makes his AI act funny?
In reference to the pain sync spam. If you hit the mob right after it does Pain sync before it has anything else done to it (enfeebs, etc.) then it can insta-TP and will just keep spamming pain sync. The solution is...do nothing.
To me, the whole concept behind thinker is to just get out of the dog pile kill as fast as possible gotta have amazing numbers win the parse DPS zerg mode. Waiting 4 to 5 seconds and not doing damage vs wipega, rinse and repeat. Or....work it down, use an alex smn to PD your DD/conduit spam and hope you kill it before PD hits the gradual wear point that pain sync splats you. I have to say, I am enjoying Omen. It's amusing to see mobs like this have gimmicks that work against the norm that everyone is programmed to do. Sylph.Braden

Or did we just wipe at a wrong point in time that makes his AI act funny? It's possible his rage duration is either based off of buffs remaining or a timer that pauses when he's idle, but I haven't paid enough attention to it. Seems like you guys got him down to just before his 2nd usage at 75%, then pushed him over soon after restarting and got more of the same. We've held him with Dia on a full wipe and Vex+Wilt on a partial wipe. If you do Dia, note that he doesn't alliance aggro or anything, but does aggro around... 15'? Might be 10', I forget. You won't have to have people drop party or anything like with Escha/Unity fights though. I get behind Fu on RUN before grabbing hate when we start the fight, so all of my buffs get stolen but nobody else. I have maybe a bit over two full rows of stuff taken off of me, but that has been more than plenty for it to take extra damage. It seems like you can avoid the draw-in if the person with hate doesn't run off too quickly and stays in Fu's attack range. We've been successfully killing it as RUN GEO WHM COR SMN +anything, but we limit the number of buffs stolen by just having me on RUN in range.
I'm somewhat skeptical of the absorb mechanic listed for Gin. Here's some trimmed excerpt from the fight we did today.
Code 21:59:33Skillchain: Darkness.Gin takes 37593 points of damage. 21:59:41Skillchain: Darkness.Gin takes 40016 points of damage. 21:59:51Skillchain: Light.Gin takes 55659 points of damage. 22:00:34Skillchain: Darkness.Gin takes 34155 points of damage. 22:00:41Skillchain: Darkness.Gin takes 37352 points of damage. 22:00:48Skillchain: Darkness.Gin takes 29126 points of damage. 22:01:00Skillchain: Darkness.Gin takes 37384 points of damage. 22:01:11Skillchain: Darkness.Gin takes 37094 points of damage. 22:01:20Skillchain: Darkness.Gin takes 39959 points of damage. 22:01:29Skillchain: Darkness.Gin takes 29438 points of damage. 22:01:38Skillchain: Darkness.Gin takes 42195 points of damage. 22:01:45Skillchain: Darkness.Gin takes 52672 points of damage. 22:02:13Skillchain: Darkness.Gin recovers 33608 hit points! 22:02:22Skillchain: Darkness.Gin recovers 34970 hit points! 22:02:38Skillchain: Light.Gin takes 19821 points of damage. 22:03:01Skillchain: Darkness.Gin recovers 19143 hit points! 22:03:11Skillchain: Light.Gin takes 14409 points of damage. Some of these seem well within 10 seconds of each other, and the first skillchain that healed it was a very long time from the last skillchain. What I've noticed is that sometimes Darkness consistently heals it and sometimes Light consistently heals it. Not sure outside of that. I really don't know what causes the change, but that's what we've seen, too. He also takes drastically increased damage from the opposite element. I don't know if that applies to only SC damage or all magic damage, as we've only done Gin with melees.

Yeah, what's listed on the wiki page is definitely BS from what I've seen as well- I don't usually observe it absorbing anything until ~50% HP. I think I've even observed it seemingly absorbing both (i.e. a Light SC and a Dark SC right after each other), but don't quote me on that.
I've seen something similar, but not with SC damage specifically. I always keep Lux runes up while tanking, and it seems that when he gets low on HP (~25%), he can heal from both. Our DNC did a big darkness to heal him while I was also healing him from Lux auto-attacks. Earlier in the fight, it would only be one or the other.

I wouldn't be surprised if the mechanic is just "Heals from one or the other from 50%-->25%, heals from both 25%-->0".
That's what my group experienced as well. We alternate Light and Dark SC for the first 75% and swapped to Distortion for the last 25%. Can also check for what he's absorbing by having your GEO cast on it (Dia II/Bio etc).

From what we've seen, Light 100-50% dmgs it, darkness 50-10%, then usually 10-0% we just don't SC, but we have had darkness/light do dmg <10%. Usually someone casts, dia or bio, to check what we SC to it. Well, that's all of the skillchains we did for the entire fight. Maybe it changes elemental affinity after every Zero Hour?

Guess we just get lucky going 75-50% that it stays light. Just got done tanking craver on pld and found ochain to be helpful. view sync/carousel together were doing atleast 200 dmg+ each while using aegis. Switched over to ochain and noticed that the damage fell to about 44-90 for each of the tp moves after. Also a few times both view sync/carousel missed.
Random fact:
You can indeed CFH final bosses and make 5 people into your eternal arch enemies. Sylph.Shadowlina said: » Oh Fun factoid: The Final Bosses are named after Shogi Pieces. 銀將/Gin: Silver General 金將/Kin: Gold General 香車/Kyou: Lance 歩兵/Fu: Pawn 桂馬/Kei: Knight. Also fun fact:
You can charm Transcended mobs. Found this out last night with ability objective and CB timer @1min. Floor 1/2
Follow the light and carry out your charge before time runs out.You have 180 seconds remaining. Floor 4 Follow the light and carry out your charge before time runs out.You have 300 seconds remaining. You find a hope crystal on the Glassy Craver. You find a bolt of moonbow cloth on Kyou. |
