Scale and cards is to make them, then the following set of mats is for the "augmenting" process, or so that's what the phrasing implies. He also lists 2 different Escha Bead prices for the first set of materials and the second set of materials (200/10000 and 300/15000). I doubt both the Scale/Cards are for the same purpose as the crafting materials.

I guess that would make the "Need two times" sentence make more sense if that's how it works.

Yeah, I would honestly be surprised if there was augments on AF. Best case I'd consider them adding augments after relic/empy come out to keep them more relevant, but I doubt that.

So Gin magic absorbtion is still a bit odd to me. Just finished it off with darkness, distortion popped a few times and no absorb earlier either. Wondering if he shifts between elements and absorbs that one? Should I be paying more attention to what he's nuking with between Zero Hours?

I don't have any firm knowledge on what causes his shift, but he absolutely does shift his absorption. I noticed he'd be healed from my Lux runes during certain parts of the fight and then not others, and when swapping to Tenebrae for an MP Pulse he would occasionally be healed from them. I'm not certain on if he absorbs specific elements or a blanket "light or dark", as my DDs were BLUs, so there was just a steady stream of a laser light show.

Omen (2016/12/21)

We thank the players for their feedback on the new battle content. We will be lengthening the time allowed for players to finish goals per your feedback. We’ll work to bring this update to you as quickly as we can, so we hope players can stay patient until then.

Taken from BGs DevTracker topic

Awesome! I'm glad to see action being taken on this. Cheers to no more lost items!

(Hey SE, while you're at it, do you mind increasing the drop rate on the bodies? Thanks!)

I do believe they aren't referring to lengthening the time of the event itself just lengthening the time to complete the bonus objectives. You know when you go to a new floor and you have 90s to do 18 weapon skills (3 per party member) or some other ridiculous task that can't be done in 90s. Biggest reason to farm cards solo or with no more then 3 is to have reasonable objectives to complete.
This seems Accurate :)

3 members 18 WS or 18 MB is just SE laughing at your face.....

There's two mechanics I can think of to fix the loot issues and timeout. One is a 5 minute extension upon boss kill, however thus only resolves a timeout on the final boss.

I'd rather see an "antechamber", in the style of Legion to which you are teleported to either a)upon selecting to leave, b)beating the final floor (be that either boss or chest), or c)timeout. Game recognizes it as the same zone so loot doesn't drop, but not part of the engaging area.

Kin's a lot easier than I thought he was.

RUN/WHM/GEO/BRD/WAR/WAR

All you need to do is weapon skill him with skills that will not skillchain when he is casting a spell. For this reason I am wondering if bringing a BRD and a RDM (as a melee and as a buffer) is a good idea for Kin, as Nocturne and Addle II stacked would give you a crazy long window to damage him. Savage Blade does not skillchain with Resolution so if that's the weapon skill of choice your other melees are using then healing him during a spell is not an issue.

Eleventh Dimension is also very easy to avoid as he uses Target on the person he is intending to use it on and his eyes light up to signify that the countdown has begun. You will stop the countdown, likewise signified by the light in his eyes going out, if another melee tears enmity away from the person Kin used Target on. Therefore all you need to do is call out when you see Target used and who Kin used it on, then have other melees unload on him during the next spell window. Do that properly and you'll never have a 3:00 terror used on you.

Getting time extensions as soon as you spawn a portal rather than after warping up seems like a pretty good solution. And yeah, throw 5 or 6 minutes on the clock after the end boss.

They don't stack

You'll need extra support to get them to land, which takes away from melee support, unless you use JAs

They frequently dispel it off themselves.

Good to know they don't stack. According to BG Wiki Addle II is the stronger effect (Capping at 40% if full unresist) and will overwrite Nocturne.

I wonder if this is why Kin uses his self-Erase move so often? Perhaps using Addle II on him to lengthen his casting time, enabling more damage to be spiked on him, is how he was designed to be defeated? Well, one of the ways.

I was finding that, when the shield was down, enfeebles were pretty easy to land. (Distract, Frazzle, Addle). Para and Slow were a bit tougher, but shield seemed to make a big difference for it's M.evasion rate.

This was without any outside buffs, as RDM/BLM.

Disregard, wrong NM. Was thinking of Kei.

Small nitpick on the Caturae that's lul tier, but pretty sure Zero Hour is actually a Throat Stab ability that lowers your HP to 1, but is reduced by MDT. We've had an instance where our THF dropped to 1 HP after a Zero Hour who just had their Shell dispelled from Interference. Doubt it was coincidence, but if anyone's had an experience with someone dying to Zero Hour then I guess it was.

Here's a curious thought:

If Pain Sync damage is triggered by amount of damage given, and Blessing Sync copies buffs, what do you think the trigger for View Sync is? Facing the Craver? Need to blind him?

I'm gonna try out if either of those have any effect on him tomorrow (I always seem to get him. Running tri-box regularly with BST/SMN/GEO)

What are people doing for the Thinker? We're going a specific set of jobs for the job they want cards the most on(BLU,WHM,GEO,SAM,BRD, and PLD). Tonight it kept spamming Pain Sync over and over once it got around 25%. I mean, turning for Pain Sync is fine for the most part, as long as someone doesn't derp, but it still takes a while

My group is just having myself solo DD it on SAM to reduce the risk of a Pain Sync death as much as possible. BRD and GEO dispel buffs if it does Trinary Tap and BRD reapplies songs as necessary. That's about it. Takes about 8 mins to kill it with 1 SAM playing conservatively. I don't think there's any super secret method to kill it fast unless you have both a BRD and SMN to stack EA/Scherzo with, but we don't bring a SMN since our jobs are the same in that we just go whatever people want cards on (SAM, THF, BRD, GEO, WHM, and our 6th is dumb and keeps changing to different DD jobs).

Could just Yaegasumi burn the last ~40% of it really fast since you also bring a SAM if everyone else runs out of range and if your SAM won't need it for your Caturae boss. I'm not absolutely positive Yaegasumi will negate Pain Sync's damage since I haven't tried it myself, but I'd assume it would.

If you spam debuffs on him, he'll spam the self erase move on himself, which greatly lowers the frequency of using Pain Sync.

Did she happen to mention if the move still went off? I'm curious if it's centered on itself or if it requires the target be within 20 yalms to complete the action.

That's a stretch. It does lower it the frequency, but not greatly so. Maybe there's a certain number of debuffs that will guarantee the self erase move is used? If you're not prepared to otherwise deal with this move I don't think you'll win.

I don't think that's a reliable method unless you're gravity kiting and are already far away. Our BST wasn't even in melee range and died a few times just running in and out doing pet JA.

I think whatever strategy you choose, it needs to be reliable in regards to human error. Turning when you see it use Pain Sync is not reliable unless you're using some kind of addon to do it (and becomes even more of a risk if you have multiple people meleeing.) I like Shadowlina's strategy. They turn after it starts doing some non Pain Sync TP move to melee/maybe WS for a few seconds, then turn around again until the next opportunity. The biggest risk with this method is timing out.

Also just sort of a follow up thought - Planning your group composition solely on Thinker is not a very good plan. Your composition needs to be prepared for the boss you're attempting as well as every mid boss. So there is no one strategy fits all for Thinker unless there's something we don't know yet.

No it's not. I've only been laying debuffs on him for 2 fights, so not a huge sample size, but I've never seen him use Pain Sync while having more than 4 debuffs on at a time. It doesn't lock it since I've seen it do the move with 2 debuffs on, but the frequency is greatly reduced.

I've also been doing the debuff thing for 2 fights (in additional to Migawari). Debuffs never seemed like they locked Pain Sync, rather it seemed more like it just unlocked Winds of Promyvion. Pain Sync usage was reduced by measurable amount but not enough to rely on solely. That said, I haven't watched closely enough to know exactly how many debuffs were on it, but I do know when we used just Dia it never used Winds of Promyvion.

Next time we encounter it, I'll ensure that 4 debuffs are always on it. If you're right then that would be a much more viable strategy than anything else.
