Quite simply feelings beated rationality.

I'm not sure if you are referencing the election here but I don't this is entirely true. Trump and Hillary are completely different on a lot of controversial subjects : TTP, Guns, immigration ect. I'm fairly certain a majority of people voted on what represents them.

Seha is right, however, in that those exact feelings of "*** you, I won't do what you tell me"* won out of reason.

Seha's comment is more elitist then CJ's. CJ's is just blatant anger and hate while Seha's is more subtle and underhanded. Essentially she's stating that Trump voters lack reason, essentially that they were unreasonable because nobody with any reason would support trump. That attitude prevents any sort of respect from being given and shows a large amount of disrespect for conservative voters. It also blinded her to the large probability of a Trump win.

Mmm. Perhaps. We may simply be interpreting what she's saying differently. I also don't entirely view feelings as a bad thing, either. Of course people are going to vote with their feelings. That's what humans do. Very few humans are truly guided entirely by logic and reason.

Clinton will have 229, Trump will have 306. The 4 from NH are far too close either way.

More important is that I told everyone, over a year ago, that the Republicans would win this election and that Trump would likely be the Republican candidate. You, and several others, were adamant that he was a clown and that Clinton would easily win. Again this isn't now or a few months ago but over a year ago.

Maybe this would mean more if it came from someone who isn't constantly showing a large amount of disrespect for "liberals".

Trump won the presidency.

He didn't win the popular vote.

We are a divided nation and this election illustrated this. No matter who won today the winner got to inherit a country that wants to move in two different directions.

Good luck America, no matter who you chose you were going to piss off half of your countrymen.

I strongly disagree. Seha is very liberal in her thinking but she has also dispelled plenty of myths about Trump, Clinton and other candidates. I feel like she views things from her perspective but as objective as possible which is a lot more than other people on this forum.

To an elitist being being irrational is considered bad, her comment was meant as a slight towards Trump voters. That they were irrational and therefor lesser then her. Liberal elitists have this attitude that they are "better" then others because of their "modern progressive new age" beliefs. It's no different then radical christians that believe they are inherently "better" because of their religion.

That is why everyone is shocked / surprised of the results. The idea that they were wrong, that their worldview could be incorrect, that their base assumptions are skewed, those idea's never enter their minds. I saw this ***coming miles away because all the right ingredients are present. You now have people on ABC (super liberal news channel) searching for a scape goat to blame for why the Democrats got absolutely crushed this election. They adamantly refuse to considered that their language and tone alienated a large number of American voters.

Popular vote was incredibly close though, I think Clinton won by a mere 100k or something small like that.

I know non heated posts tend to be easily forgotten, but I've actually tried really hard to talk calmly and rationally about why I thought Trump shouldn't have been voted. But you know, it's hard to keep a decent discourse when you have people who make things up about what you might be implying instead of reading your posts.

And I've never been #withher, I've said since the primaries there was only one reasonable candidate and the chance was thrown out the window.

Times has Trump ahead now, but still Clinton projected for more. Might as well say it's a tie there.

The speculation about his cabinet choices is also incredibly scary.

I never thought Trump was some super evil dude, heck I even think some of the things he has said have been pretty agreeable, but the guys he has behind him all seem extremely shady. I feel like because his lack of political experience these people will be the ones running the show and with a red majority congress that scares the crap out of me.

Also, on the subject of why people vote for who, I know of at least two people who voted for Trump exactly because they felt he was the worst and they feel things need to get really bad before they get better.

It's an interesting theory...

Things many have said from the start.

Outside of my disgust at Trump the man, he's not entirely in lockstep with the GOP and I can appreciate that viewed in a bubble.

BUT.

His VP choice is ENTIRELY in lockstep with the hardcore religious right and many of the names we've seen suggested for his cabinet are the same. It's...really frightening.

There's a lot to be worried about, both if he runs the show, or if he leaves it all to Pence.

On that last note something that really saddens me is a type of thinking that I read from someone on bg in reply to another poster listing a series of things that can cause trouble(if not misery)for various groups.

"None of that affects me so I don't care"

So much for unity and caring about each other.

Who thinks Trump will follow through with his promise to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Clinton?

I say 70% likely, since that has been such a huge rallying cry in the last month at his events.
