Figured I'd make this since we're talking about it anyway.

Overwatch is a team based FPS that centers around heroes who all have different abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Players compete in one of three (as of the time of this post) game modes including King of the Hill, Point Capture, and Payload Escort.

There are 21 heroes in the game, and they each fall into a category (Offense, Defense, Tank, or Support). These categories define their abilities and give you an idea of the role that they should be playing on the battlefield. This is by no means black and white for most characters, however most team compositions benefit greatly from a diverse setup of multiple roles of Hero. Overwatch follows a Buy-to-Play model, meaning you need to purchase the game ($40-$80 on PC depending on which edition, $60-$80 on console) to play. The game features an in-game currency system that is earned through play, however it is possible that in the future this becomes buyable with real money as well (as of now, there has been no indication of this). All Heroes released post-launch will be free and require no additional monetary investment. Any other potential DLC or microtransactions have yet to be seen or spoken about.



It's a pretty awesome game, can't wait to play more on May 24th!

I really love the chara designs and balancing Blizzard put into this. I suppose Blizzard felt they needed a MOBA, so developed Heroes of the Storm, then decided they needed a TF2 team-type-shooter, so they developed Overwatch...makes sense. (Maybe in a few years, they will make an Overwatch big-screen movie.) :p

I suppose also, that SE decided they, too, needed a TF2 team-type-shooter, and oddly also came to the conclusion that they needed Overwatch. :p

maybe make a list of what people play on what system with thier online handle and who thier main chars are?

like for me would be
PS4- MithraOhji - Tracer, Pharah, Mercy

could be useful for getting some groups together for when ever. like if we ever get a ffxiah/xivpro game night going or something

Beta is over, launch is on the 24th, prolly won't be anything between now and then.

Also, didn't know they partnered with SE to bring it to Japan. Wonder if we'll see FF characters as a result...

I had a lot of fun with the beta when playing with friends, we'd piss people off by going full turret mode on defense sometimes though lol

Greatest FPS game ever made.

I dunno, Red Faction 2 four player split screen was pretty damn epic back in the day. Overwatch is looking to be a close 2nd though.

Let it come out before the coronation ok. Thats not an easy group to break into.

I can see it getting old rather quick. I am hoping that is just the beta. My hopes for games recently have been stabbed through the heart and stomped on until flat.. Soo, yeah..

got my dad <whos disabled from a stroke 8 years ago, basicly one working arm> to try it on pc and he actually enjoyed it.. and he gave up on FPS long ago due to the stroke.. so i say its a great game regardless

Roadhog can not only pull Bastion into shotgun blast death but that grapple also pulls you out of turret mode.

Anyone know if Blizzard intends to add updates beyond retail. New maps or characters or whatever
tanks, healers, each character thier own unique abilities. To me atleast, it's my kind of FPS and I hate FPS games.

I had way too many vacation days at work and I was gonna loose most of them (due to cap) once the year rolled over, so the office did me a favor and payed half of the days I had.

These are some options for specific heroes you can turn on to change your gameplay a bit, might be helpful for some of you

These guys are funny but yeah I think the biggest advantage they had over the other team was most likely comunication. Besides Roadhog grapple, apparently Tracer can just warp through heavily protected locations. Other team just needed to change up tactics switching characters.

A lot of players are too stubborn to change their playstyle to fit the situation, which is sad

It's sometimes brutal. Other team shows up w/ a plan and your team aint comunicating. You can lose very badly.

Then it's time to play what you're best at and carry the team

Only really need 1 or 2 Pharah w/ a Mercy to deal with some dug in Bastion(s). Hopefully people pick that up quickly post launch

How is Pharah good vs Bastion exactly. Iirc she had 200hp and even w/ healer Bastion would eat her no? Let alone 3 or 4 Bastions dead aimed on her.
