Got Hacked Thread

Use a security token and stop botting and buying gil then.

Don't know about the rest, but you should really have a token. You'd have to be incredibly thick/not doing steps you should be already to get hacked using one.

Also, just get your account back and have it rolled back, if you haven't done it before SE will do it, if you had a token you get unlimited rollbacks.

Doubt I can, was a bought account and I can't find the info for it. Also, didn't bot, hack, or buy Gil... Idk why you would randomly assume that lol

had a friend who updated his credit got banned and told he had bought his account so it was closed.It is now 6 months later and evern with a conference call between him SE and the Bank he has not gotten the account back. Not sure if this helps but it might be a starting point

he was the original owner....bank sent him a new card..he tried to enter it and the account got banned

Well, after a short live-chat with POL I got the account password reset, logged on, and nothing was missing from the account. It looked like it hadn't even moved... weird

I was hacked yesterday. Since Im not the OO Im pretty screwed as getting the password reseted. What I want to do right now if I can get it back is atleast lock it down so the guilty one can't use it.

Dunno if anyone has said this but wouldnt it be easier to just give us a pulic list of the gm's on our server so we know which is real and not? Just saying.

The GM's cover all servers, and people who fall for the whole "This is GM asdasdffa please give me your account details" probably deserve to be hacked lol.

I like to give them fake PW's just because I know they try them and it wastes some of their time.

I've never had a GM approach me with wanting my account information, not that any hacker would get much. 90% of my gear is rare/ex and un sellable. Idk if they can breech the security token or not, I imagine so though. Anything and everything is corruptable, just look at Larry King.

SE gives you a paragraph to click on every time you login that says "We won't ask you for your password". I think that's the best way to know who is real and who isn't.

Also @ Cerelyn: if you call SE with your credit info etc, you may still have a chance (assuming they didnt change it yet).

Yeah, the worse thing they can tell you is, "No". Which is better than wondering

To reset password I needed to fax in ***load of stuff I dont have anymore.

Was gonna try lock it but when it was my turn in the chat queue they just closed it down. I work in customer Service to some part as well, that really way to go SE :)

This may not be the thread to ask in, but If I would go buy the abyssea edition from Stream, does Windower work with that?

You can make it work if you copy+paste all the files into a normal Program Files directory then use bat files and reg files from someone whose game was installed traditionally to set it up.

Probably rolled off the exact same assembly line as the blizzard authenticators and a few bank tokens. But the tokens don't exactly work that way, they need to be seeded by the company thats going to use them before being shipped out to the customers. Since the 1 time password provided by the token (the seed with serial number as the reference) is only any good if the original company can generate the time frame against their own copy of the seed.

Friend might have gotten hacked today. Got error code: POL-5311, says password is incorrect. Which it absolutely isn't. Tried on his xbox and on my pc with no luck. Anyone else get this problem randomly? I REALLY hope he didn't get hacked cause he's a good friend.

False alarm apparently. He DC'd while playing, internet issues. Then when his web came back he still couldn't get back online. Reset his xbox... and it let him on. How random and stupid is that? lol

Ok Embarrassed as I am about ever trying WOW this was sent to my old email address. More than likely this is what the warning we get at log in for FFXI that SE was stating. Be careful with any of these or similar emails from browser games even. Not a chance in hell I'd have clicked links or bothered about this but some ppl just freak when they see this sort of nonsense.

I'm fairly sure it was stated that GM's will NEVER asked for your account details.
