A Realm reborn for FF11! /walk away^^ Asura.Vinedrius said: » Siren.Kuz said: » Asura.Vinedrius said: » They copied races, including beastmen and a whole bunch of monster models, that is worse than copying ideas. FFXIV is a box full fan service eye candies. When I watch my bro playing it, all I am seeing is a big mess of HD remakes of character and monster designs from previous titles. Best open an account now and get started! I heard FFXI is shutting down! Nah, I would rather sub to WoW, at least Blizzard appears to know what they are doing with their most popular franchise (don't worry, I won't) When the last update comes out, SE will advertise the hell out it, trying to sell Ultimate editions. With each sale, you get a character on any server. All subs to 49, three jobs to 99, all skills capped, all job points capped, full sets of 119 AF, Relic, and Emp gear. 5 stacks of mog pells, redeemable for any accessories, and your choice of 1 lvl 75 RME weapon. Isn't that what Blizzard does? If and when I walk away from FFXI. it will likely be my last. But I can't even begin to say that even after they stop adding content, I'll have "nothing to do".
I could list a handful of items off the top of my achievement wishlist and its not even 5% of what I'd like to get done in game. There's content, and then there's personal achievements, and the majority of the time, clearing a content is not a personal achievement. I still have jobs I need to unlock, 99, gear, macro, etc. I still have my main 5-8 jobs I play that I need to cap JP on. Do you know how annoying skirmish augments have negatively impacted my progress? I had hopes of finishing Idris, and then I got sidetracked to try to get acc/att+20 dw+5 etc on 5 pieces, then make a ws set, then make a bst pet set, then make an acro stp set.... you see where this is going? I don't know about you guys, but I am far from completing my personal achievements in-game. I log into ffxi with hopes of getting 5 things done, and I barely get one thing done. Or i end up spending millions of gil on (augments) nothing. So even if they don't produce any content, there is still literally a bevy of content I could engage myself in, if not for the rewards, for the "I did it" feeling. I'm sure its the same with some of you, even if you refuse to admit it. I still want to make an Almace for my BLU. No reason, its just a pretty hawt looking sword. I don't have a Tizona. I'd like to get some top-notch gear on my main job, BLU. If this game stopped producing content today, I probably wouldn't finish my main job completely for about another year (i play casually). Then multiply that entire list by 20. That's how long it will take to get your personal achievements done. I just hope that when the content stops rolling in, people get creative and still decide to play. Otherwise, the end of the game becomes inevitable. Blizzard was working on a new MMO but it was cancelled.
Lakshmi.Leosin said: » Good Job SE. Way to keep these jaded *** bitching. Doomsday trolls been beating the same dead horse since 2006 about the inevitable end of FFXI and now all the forum jackasses are coming out of the woodwork to do the "I told you so!" dance? You'd have to be a complete idiot to not comprehend that everything comes to an end and ignoring that fact is worthy of a facepalm - but to outright ***on other peoples enjoyment because they still have the capacity to enjoy something that no longer brings you the same level of satisfaction..... Really? How miserable do you have to be to not only let a video game consume you to a point of epic levels of butthurt even after "quitting/retiring/getting banned" but to also hang around and complain about the same game ad nauseam day in and day out? Such a sad and pathetic existence. Completely agreed. If people already quit plan to quit just leave us the people still playing alone. Lakshmi.Amymy said: » leave us the people still playing alone ![]() It's still funny after all these years !
Siren.Bruno said: » Trying to be the optimistic one here: Sky came out in 2003. Didn't people do that until 2010 when Abyssea and everything following it came out? Eventually this obsoleted a bit of its gear overtime and made it easier with the cap increase, so people didn't need to do it anymore, or at least didn't need a linkshell or large group for it. That was 7 years, and that's just from one division of content. Of course, I know we didn't thrive on just Sky alone, there was other things. I've enjoyed the game and all of its content post-2010, but if new endgame didn't come out, isn't the general consensus of most that we would have been better off without updates adding content? But you see here now, for some reason, people feel differently, and disappointed that addition of content, for the foreseeable future, will be stopping in November. How long would people have actually continued on doing Sky, or "golden age" content, if the game didn't get new stuff in 2010? Wishful thinking, but if they could do something with adding content in a similar manner to older stuff like Sky and such, this could go really well. I'm not saying they should clone Sky specifically, but if you can implement something with similar longevity and life, many would be happy. Not just one realm of endgame, but multiple differing varieties of content as we've enjoyed now and before. I feel like some people are looking at this the wrong way, and I can see why, given how fast you can plow through some modern day endgame, in comparison to what we had in the past. The common fear seems to be that what we get only lasts us a month or two, as recent years of history dictate. It's within the realm of possibility that they could pull this off correctly and with lasting durability, though. People are too spoiled. Given them new updates every month then they rage when they stopped the updates. When delve came out how long did people got all 3 wins? I think it took me 3-5 months to get tojil clear and all 3 like 7 months (I really forgot). Maybe this new final update will take us 3-7 months to clear as well? Then after that it's anyone's guess. Better example. A hot guy/girl will go out with you for a year and after that he's leaving forever. Take it or leave it? Lakshmi.Amymy said: » Better example. Exactly there's still an awesome year of ffxi left. Enjoy it. I'll be enjoying the time we have and hoping something comes after. I play this like it is, a game. As far as the people who are doing their victory dance, I wouldn't bother caring about them as they are pathetic. I went to a FFXIV fanfest and as I look at those people I understand what some of these posters are like in RL lol. The same srubs that have sat here for ages hoping this game would die and harassing the people that still play are the ones that lose out. We all have our memories of this game and still there are some to come so enjoy them for all you can.
Welcome back Draylo.
We missed your cheery outlook at life. I'll be honest, I teared up a bit :( I am going to flood my house with tears and just stare at this beautiful quote SE has given us... <Nice to meet you!> <BlueStacks> <Invite to Join Party!> Well looks like I'll be reactivating... but not until all 3 parts of Rhapsody of Vana'diel are out. Maybe SE will lower sub fees then or something...
Also this: (direct link: http://imgur.com/nMQqIy4) Hmm... it's possible that it's Phoenix. Not sure if that image is official though, but it's printed at the end of the 10th Anniversary Memorial Book. Well I'm not surprised of the PS2 drop but the Xbox 360 sorta. But anyways you need Xbox Gold to actually play it online with the system. One of my biggest grips thanks to the change of Xbox Live before the one came out.
Also looking back on many articles that came out over the years that Final Fantasy XI has been running. There are at least a dozen articles saying that SE would not raise level cap when level cap then was 75. Who knows what may happen in another year or so FFXI still maybe alive due to the fact the PC game you can get almost anywhere online download for like $9.99-$19.99 that includes everything. I know with the closed off support from consoles that will kill some of the subscribers which wouldn't hurt if any and everyone transfers to PC because you can play with keyboard or controller and set it up of how you want to do it. I hate to see the game go as it has inspired me on writing some stories of memories I have over the years of playing this game on and off for a bit. Who knows what the future can hold as much as I would like F2P but who knows. Valefor.Angelous said: » Well I'm not surprised of the PS2 drop but the Xbox 360 sorta. You don't need gold to play FFXI on X Box Valefor.Angierus said: » Or you could spend $20 and purchase a PC copy, hook up a xbox360 or ps3/4 controller to your PC(some drivers required for this one) and go to town. They never said the Windows client is being discontinued and they never said what was going to happen beyond March 2016, so continue to have your fun with the title, it's not like majority of the player base that you interact with is on those consoles. Note that the Windows client (Ultimate Collection: Seekers Edition) is available directly from SE, free of charge: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/download/media/install_win.html So there's no need to buy the PC version if you already have an account, accounts are shared across all platforms. Pretty much ANY PC from the past 5+ years can run the game better than PS2/360. Just not enough details yet for me to make a decision. Although it does kind of put a damper how how much time/effort I want to put into currently playing with the general uncertainty. I'll definitely be around until Nov/Dec when the final Add-ons are released. Hopefully by that time more details about how the mobile client will be integrated and what kind of updates(if any) will occur going forward will be available.

[SquareEnix]"We plan for this to be a grand conclusion to the FINAL FANTASY series' first MMORPG--and indeed, the first console MMORPG--in a way that will be recorded in the annals of the genre's history."
[SquareEnix]"FINAL FANTASY XI's major version updates will conclude with the implementation of the final chapter of Rhapsodies of Vana'diel, but there will continue to be minor version updates that address bugs and contain various balance adjustments." The End |
