Well, no matter when it's gonna happen, but I'm pretty damn sure that the day they finally going to pull the plug - gonna be *** epic.

Hard to pick the zone, but somehow I find this one about right

And somewhere, there'll be someone pitching a fit because they were in the middle of a Delve run when the plug was pulled.

Better yet, have everyone gather at Rolanberry Fields and somebody pull Simurgh, rage him, and everyone goes afk and let the slaughter happen there.

Could also do Dragon's Aery and Nidhogg/Faffy too. I think they depop now though...

Trying to be the optimistic one here:

Sky came out in 2003. Didn't people do that until 2010 when Abyssea and everything following it came out? Eventually this obsoleted a bit of its gear overtime and made it easier with the cap increase, so people didn't need to do it anymore, or at least didn't need a linkshell or large group for it.

That was 7 years, and that's just from one division of content. Of course, I know we didn't thrive on just Sky alone, there was other things. I've enjoyed the game and all of its content post-2010, but if new endgame didn't come out, isn't the general consensus of most that we would have been better off without updates adding content? But you see here now, for some reason, people feel differently, and disappointed that addition of content, for the foreseeable future, will be stopping in November. How long would people have actually continued on doing Sky, or "golden age" content, if the game didn't get new stuff in 2010?

Wishful thinking, but if they could do something with adding content in a similar manner to older stuff like Sky and such, this could go really well. I'm not saying they should clone Sky specifically, but if you can implement something with similar longevity and life, many would be happy. Not just one realm of endgame, but multiple differing varieties of content as we've enjoyed now and before.

I feel like some people are looking at this the wrong way, and I can see why, given how fast you can plow through some modern day endgame, in comparison to what we had in the past. The common fear seems to be that what we get only lasts us a month or two, as recent years of history dictate. It's within the realm of possibility that they could pull this off correctly and with lasting durability, though.

I assume that's (an avatar of?) Altana herself.

So, off the top of my head, I see:
Tenzen, Lion, Maat, Gilgamesh, Star Sibil, Prishe,
Lilisette, Naja, Shantotto, Zeid, Nashmeira, Selh'teus.

I know there is more, just cant tell who. Also, the person in the middle. If you look closely, it looks like she is dressed in garb from the Far East, and the character has a certain fiery look to it. It may be Phoenix.

Either that or Seong Mi-na from Soul Calibur is joining FFXI

SoA story was kind of interesting, the parts that I wasn't skipping through because they were a full 30 minutes of meaningless dreck.

In truthfulness, no new content can also mean the opposite of what we are thinking right now. It could mean that we finally have time to finish one job completely and move onto the next. It means we don't have to rush augmenting 20 sets in 2 weeks for fear we will get "behind"in gear. It means that we can go back and finish the missions that we literally didn't bother doing because there were no items we cared about at the time, but now, prove novelty.

I kind of really wanted to see ilvl limbus and sea, as those were my favorite areas of ffxi. Void watch was okay, but I think that content is just a cheap event to make money. They need to make every single battlefield and event in game a high tier, and allow difficulty adjustments for achievements. I would love a high tier omega or Ultima, not the 99 version. Even if it just dropped crafting items.

Teodor and balamor/hades high tier would be interesting as well

You have a good point. Honestly, I might even enjoy the game more after the last big update, because it will mean that everything I do from that point onward will be just for fun and not for keeping up with the Joneses.

I don't understand why they don't give us 3 more expansions, even if they would be smaller than SoA, to introduce far north, east and south and keep milking veteran players. I thought they were still earning a good sum of money from current subs.

They could have decreased the fees, add a vanity shop to the account page, maybe give a free month (or at least two weeks) with free level ups and a bunch of copper vouchers or things like that for any potential returners so they could jump right into action.

Those people would be happy to know if SE announced they would reveal the whole Vana'diel before putting the game in intensive care.

I was expecting to be dissapointed, but this is just too much to take... I don't know how to feel aobut this game anymore... One part of me says I feel betrayed as a loyal customer, other part says all good things has to end. They scrapped the UI rehaul for Windows version, but now they have to work on a completely new UI for mobile platforms. Why should we care for a mobile phone version anyway? Expensive cellular data fees, shitty connections, possibly being forced into microtransactions to get past stupid limiations... I don't want any of that crap.

At least make those addons free, cut the fees a bit and announce a free game time+rewards event so maybe they could get some people to return and we could pass the final days of actual content with lots of active players and not afk bazaars, standing all day in adoulin or jeuno...

I will most likely stay for another year or two, maybe unsub until November. Just wait until May to see that they will sell the addons from the full price of 10$ each. These people never learn. Maybe they should just leave this business and start selling lemonade on the streets.

They've been working on a skeleton staff ever since the company's major *** with 14. I actually liked many things about the 1.0 combat system, I'm kind of mad they went full WoW retard with that game.

MMO's thrive on content updates, and they've been doing awesome the past two years. It's kind of *** up to tell everyone that you're going to be stopping that, so far ahead of time. They put little to no advertising into 11, when it's still a great game on it's own. Seems to me that they're just trying to let it die so that they can push 14. The thing is 14 is not the same type of game in anyway, the only similarity is that the games are based in FF universe, and that's it. FF14 combat system is *** garbage.

It's only been 12 hours and we already have

And it's only been 12 hours...

Quote from Matsui's new comments about the upcoming March update:

They are still too afraid to nerf SAM in favor of other DD jobs. This isn't even funny anymore, more like pathetic. Did someone say continued support for bug fixes and balance adjustments? I guess SAM has hidden Balance Killer job trait.

There's a lot of overreaction/melodrama going on across all FFXI related forums and in-game.

"I'm dropping my pearl and leaving forever~ goodbye Vana'diel!" they all say, but without guidance, their spirits will linger and their hatred and resentment for those of us who remain will transform them into poser-level trolls on this forum.

They copied races, including beastmen and a whole bunch of monster models from FFXI, that is worse than copying ideas. FFXIV is a box full of fan service eye candies. When I watch my bro playing it, all I am seeing is a big mess of HD remakes of character and monster designs from previous titles.

Nah, I would rather sub to WoW, at least Blizzard appears to know what they are doing with their most popular franchise (don't worry, I won't)
