It also doesn't make sense that it benefits her socially if she still remained an outcast in her daily life and was still alienated by her family. Did she show up to school and have more confidence because of it or going around talking about all her online friends she had now and it made her face anything less in school? If anyone did this they'd probably go even further down in social standing and secure their place for good in the social hierarchy.
Why do you think many LGBT kids hide who they are? Why is is so wrong for anyone to be excepted for who they are? You talk like they are too young to make a decision about this stuff yet we encourage straight kids to go out and for those types of relationships with other straight kids. In the end it's not really a choice at all. You can choose to hide it for as long as you can probably but it just is who you are.
In any case it does not benefit them socially here. What it may do is bring them some comfort having someone else out there who might sympathize or relate to their own situation and give them some comfort where there was thought to be none. It defeinitely does not raise there social standing though.

That said, gender dysphoria itself is a symptom not a condition. The underlying causes are not known to any real extent at this point in time. It's not that radical to suggest that many cases are developed from a subconscious observation that the other gender rewards behaviors of the person.
Martyr, they killed themselves, wrong use of the word. Nor does it have any value, wasted life, don't kill yourself, only thing to take away from any of this.
Poor misunderstood blah blah blah. Many children and teens have it much worse and don't give up.
Also sex change is a choice, you can be lbg without surgery. Male or female is about the mechanism not the software. Some animals can even change gender through a natural process.
