FFXI on ps3?
I've come back to ffxi a few months ago on the first time on a pc. It's great love it. I used to have it on my ps3 though and just got my hands on another ps3 and a beautiful hd tv. I was wondering, is it possible to get up to the current expansion installed on my ps3? anyone still playing it on ps3 I could use some help. Thank you. Please no trash talk just need some info.
Adoulin was not released for the PS2 outside of Japan so you wouldn't have access to it.
afaik you could only play it on PS3 with backward compatibility(and they are discontinued) and it still looked like PS2...
damn that bites, guess pc is my only option then... crap lol
You would think if they removed ps2 support that they could upscale the game some no?
PS2 is still supported, they just didn't sell expansion discs outside of Japan. So, technically you COULD play the Japanese client on PS3 if you had backward compatibility and Japanese discs.
but I wouldn't be able to read it though right?
I have part of the game installed and updated, just need the info off the discs and realized that it only went to the 08 collection on ps2
I'm not sure the server would recognize it either, but you're still way better off on PC anyway. You can play with a controller and even use that HDTV if you want.
I do have a great wireless controller setup and a sweet lcd on my pc, the ps3 was just a convenience really. I liked the idea of being able to play it regardless of my mood and room I was in lol. I kinda get why they did what they did.
You'll probably need to mod your PS3, aa well. (or maybe not, if you can just dock the HDD) But there is a mod out there to get the Adoulin files onto the PS2 HDD. Though in the last month most PS2 players I know have been complaining about an increase in issues with the game.
In the long run it'd be best to get the PC version, even a popoto of a laptop could run it. Kiroo said: » could upscale the game some no? It would take lots and lots of money, they're not willing to spend it on XI so late in the games life when it doesn't have enough players to be worth it. Crank up your windower settings, should be good enough. Kiroo said: » You would think if they removed ps2 support that they could upscale the game some no? You can still play the US PS2 but it doesn't have the newer expansion areas due to them wanting to make a special press on their machines for this market (US PS2 press went down years ago), it was a market thing, nothing more. As for the mods, I'm curious on those, it probably works around the code signing leak a few years ago right before the PSN went down for a bit. *UPDATED* (Guide/how to) Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) - Seekers of Adoulin on NA/US PS2
here's the guide. but as stated it could lead to a ban. Shiva.Siral said: » *UPDATED* (Guide/how to) Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) - Seekers of Adoulin on NA/US PS2 here's the guide. but as stated it could lead to a ban. You can get a 360 for like 50 bucks...If you want to play on the TV.
