I'm sorry that years of bitterness eats at you guys because you leeched off linkshells for drops but I made alot of people very wealthy and that's worth saying time and time again. The servers may not be what they used to be, the old days may be gone but the spirit of hardwork and dedication aren't going anywhere.
Make excuses all you want, those relics, that dynamis, those principles on which FFXI made its name on aren't going anywhere and any employer would be lucky to get someone who believes in helping their co-workers, sets goals and is accountable.

Hey I lead a LS back in the day too. I was an officer in another. Both made plenty of people gil during their tenure. leadership in an LS is pretty tough to quantify across a job interview.

I did know one person who used it on a resume and got hired. It was one of my sacks, dunno if it was true.. Didn't care.

If gil is worth 10 bucks a mil and you made 3 billion dollars in gil over 10 years, that's 3k a year over those 10 years.
...and it only took you 4 hours of playtime a day to do it.
The pressure of leading a group to beat a computer enemy in a videogame is not the same as meeting the monthly goals for a company, an office, or what have you.
Sure if you get a lot into it it might stress you just as much, but that's all on your word alone, it's not real work, there are no concrete results. It doesn't matter much if you quelled internal conflicts, planned schedules and handled resources, cause it was all in the context of playing.
But I guess I just have much more strict expectations as a boss.
