Bushido - The Way of The Samurai (A Guide) V. 2.0

Thanks Simon.
I'm a but puzzled on the SPs answer.
Both forms? Surely you don't mean relying on the COR's wildcard mid-fight? And neither JAs are gonna last long enough for both forms, will they?
It's 30secs for Meikyo and 45 for Yaegasumi °-°
First form dies from single 4step multi. 2nd form from double 2step, so yeah Yaegasumi will last for entire fight (or close).
Frailty might be better than STR, but you need to be fast with it (buff bubble can be set up before you even engage).

Yes I see what you mean, sounds like I need some good practice to get the timings right, cannot afford to waste not even a second.
I see the potential in Frailty but we don't even know if it works at full potency or if it has what nowadays is sadly the common 50% or 75% potency reduction on VD.
If it's the latter then STR would be better, right? In addition to what you said about preparing the bubble pre pull.

Is there any reason to make a Doji is I already have r15 masa?

With R25 Mpaca cap and 3/5 Nyame, you cap SC damage without aftermath, so even that isn't much of an advantage anymore for SAM.

It's not about the skillchain bonus, its about the 500 tp bonus when spamming hybrids. You wouldn't even be using shoha.

However thinking about it I don't know if level 4 light and radiance are already the same multiplier or if radiance is higher? (Radiance is higher then level 3)

Level 3 and double light/darkness are the same potency, just depends on the number of steps involved. most radiance are also only 20% stronger than light.

How much stronger Radiance is depends on what step you close it at. Closing a 2-step with it is 50% stronger than a 2-step Light, while closing a 3 or higher step it's 20% stronger than a or higher step Light.

Radiance is only 50% stronger for a two step, which is not something you should be aiming to do.

Both Meikyo Shisui and Konzen-ittai SC damage bonus break the 50% cap from gear/traits/gifts/aeonic aftermath.
All additive with each other for a potential 2.1x multiplier.

All gear (that I've been able to test,) traits, gifts and aeonic aftermath fall under the "Skillchain Bonus" term, even gear that is labeled as skillchain damage.

So if there isn't a SC advantage, is there an advantage when using hybrid WS? Is there any place for Doji, or is it just a cheap stepping stone to r15 Masa if you have a group that can do Aeonics?

Doji is still valuable due to the +500 TP bonus (except for Rani... you suck rani). The difference between R15 Masa and R15 Doji isn't huge, but Masa is so easy to get, generally speaking, that there is no real reason not to do it.

hybrids for sure. i have not ran any SAM simulations in a long time for solo stepping, but the advantage of aftermath sc damage is no longer there with nyame. so pretty much comes down to if the radiance damage make up the difference.
Cerberus.Shadowmeld said: » The difference between R15 Masa and R15 Doji isn't huge The last time I ran a simulation, Masa was solidly ahead Doji for Fudo spamming. This was before any Odyssey gear, so masa only got comparatively further ahead. It would only compete if Radiance makes up the difference.

Yes, I meant for any situation that wasn't just Fudo, the difference isn't huge.
Edit: To be clear, I'm not claiming that Doji beats or is comparable to masa, just that the difference isn't gigantic.
My understanding is that the heirachy is generally:
R15 Masa > R15 Doji > R0 Masa > R0 Doji
That being said, The difference between R0 Masa and R15 Masa is some base damage, 20 STR, and 10% Fudo damage, so conceptually it feels like R15 Doji should be in the ballpark of performance in relation to R15 Masa, but below to a degree.

Fudo > Fudo spam had Masamune(AM3) like 15+% ahead of Doji, before Nyame/Mpaca/Master Levels, it wasn't even close. The gap on multi step is also smaller now, the only advantage Doji has is hybrids and potentially radiance.

Fair enough.
Edit: Are you saying that Doji is also spamming Fudo? and that has masa +15% or are you saying that no matter what you decide to do with Doji, Masa is +15% at least?

I'm saying that Fudo spam and Fudo > Fudo Light SCs, Masamune(AM3) was 15+% ahead in DPS over Doji. Even with just AM1, it was around 13%.
Radiance close compared to double light went from like ~29% to ~20% for doji, and every WS in step also had the gap closed on their SC damage because of Nyame set. I don't have any new results to get you an exact comparison yet, but the advantage doji had has come down to pretty much the 20% extra damage Radiance has on Double Light.

Ok, understand.
Yeah, If all you're doing is spamming Fudo, it's been generally understood that Doji isn't an option if you have Masa.
I'd be interested to see a sim of a standard 4 Step comparison of Masa vs Doji if you could, assuming kind of BIS build. Would you assume 5/5 Shoha merits for Masa or 1/5?

I would use 5/5. I would have to add new gear, my SAM sim is not as refined as my newer models and I'm mostly just lazy about it since I don't play SAM much currently. But I can tomorrow.

Bippin, alternatives for Tachi Jinpu in the Ring slots? Other than Karieyh and Epaminonda.
What would the next 3 best options be?

Your not a real SAM unless you can do four defense ignoring attacks at once!
