Mappy
Does anyone have an updated map pack for this?
Aww, from the thread title, I got all excited and thought this was going to be about...
![]() ...then realised it was a Windower-forum thread. ;_; Oh well...really loved that game, though. :p Would play it whenever I could find it when I was little (even if I was never any good at it at all--just one of those "joy in playing" type things.) ^^ /mistaken tangent bump not sure if this does something special that you're looking for specifically other than provide a dynamic map, but if not have you tried ffxidb plugin for windower?

Mappy (If he's talking about what I think) is a set of map .dat files. (They're all labeled with zones, places that are blocked off, nm pops, etc.) Yes, ffxidb plugin does all of that. It uses your in-game maps afaik, so they're labeled as long as you have XI Vision installed.
Mappy is a 3rd party program that uses a seperate set maps(similar to the modded maps in XI View .dat mod). Don't know how to update the map.ini so it can tell zone IDs and which maps are for what. It's like ffxidb mini map, but you can zoom in/out edit "hunts" (track specific mobs by name/id) etc, etc. It is pretty nifty.
can zoom xidb in and out, not sure about hunts though. type //ffxidb help for a list of commands and see if it's on there
How do you zoom xidb out on a compact keyboard?
//ffxidb map zoom #
# = % zoom that you want. so if you want 25% zoom, type 25. Think it goes up to something ridiculous like 1000%. thnx
You can also hover over it and scroll up/down to zoom in/out.
I don't have a mouse so his answer helped me.
My favorite part about mappy that I didn't see on FFXIDB was that you could see what other players were targeting.
Not that I would ever do it myself, but hypothetically if one was fleeing around at 300% while invisible, that horrible person would be able to see if another player was targeting him, and know that he needed to lay off his evil hacks for the next few hours. If you were camping an NM, you could tell whether another player was just passing by, or trying to pop/camp, as mapppy would show their target line rapidly shifting from target to target as the player hit tab. I didn't realize it was still being maintained or that it worked, though. It was updated to handle 3 digit hex values for newer Adoulin zones, but since then Ihm has ceased development, and asked if anyone was interested in taking over the project.
I have cleaned up the map.ini and added newer maps like Kamihr Drifts and Woh Gates for personal, and inner-circle use. I have also been trying to do a few things with the source in my spare time like an easier way to dynamically switch between map packs, a better way of drawing vector maps, and separating hunts/vector maps into different directories from the maps. I can publish the map.ini somewhere as that shouldn't be against any rules. Edit: Skirmish/Delve maps still WIP. If you're interested in an updated map.ini, we have two threads with new info on our Forums:
http://forums.windower.net/index.php?/topic/235-map-pack-dec-30-2013/#entry1400 http://forums.windower.net/index.php?/topic/233-201312290mapini-community-edition/ Curious do we just need the updated map.ini to see the SoA maps or do we need the .gif image of the maps in the folder as well?
For mappy you need the images as well. The FFXIDB plugin technically uses the ingame maps, but we don't have up-to-date map data to display it correctly.
![]() I'm getting a memory signature error when I open Mappy after the update. Does anyone know the fix? Thanks in advance!
Has anyone found a working version of Mappy since the February update? If so please let me know. Thanks in advance.
