Since we're on the vein of dead icons of the 1950's and 1960's I need to dig up an article I found not too long ago about Jackson Pollock's movement being used as a counter to the Social Realism movement.

strangely enough, my middle daughter might be a bee whisperer. last summer, or hell maybe the one before that, she walked up to me in the front yard and said "Dad! I caught a bee!" with her hands clasped together in a little windowless cage. "nuh-uh" I half-heartedly replied. she opened her little palm-prison to reveal a bee, very much alive, walking around in her hands, and then closing them up again. :O "you better let him go before he stings you! " I said. "nope. he's my friend, he wouldn't do that" and off they went. she didn't come back later with a bee sting, so I can only imagine thier relationship ended amicably.

I'm just not even surprised with the shutdown. makes me sad that I'm not outraged. Should start our own political party. it's more likely to produce results than Congress doing anything we want or need done.
