It was a VD DM.
Even so, that seems low, not horrendously but 200-300 points for sure

What buffs do you usually have?
We were missing at least four buffs though since the leader didn't want us to swap buffers because we had two 4song BRD's (for simplicity). But PT1's BRD failed to keep up the 5th song and PT2's had a Carn (longer soulvoice songs), so PT1 had a choice between 3minuets/1prelude or 2minuets/2preludes. Not to mention both parties were lacking two COR rolls.

Keityan, please post more data. Those sound exaggerated at least a little bit, you have some extra total damage in there.

Kinda hard to compare gun VS bow with a parse like that, there is a huge gap in gear, skill and xhit builds among those 8 rng. Either use the spreadsheets and trust them or put a gun+bow rng of same skill at playing the job, optimal gear, in the same party that use JA etc at fixed times and then you would need both players to have both wep and have them run multiple parses, or you need someone like comeatmebro.
The top two were in the same party and competing with each other with all RNG gear available, so things were close in every way possible. Only the WS from RNG2 were bad, but if you boost that to the the level of the other Namas users, the damage difference becomes 182k vs 164k, a 11% difference, which incidentally is exactly what the spreadsheet says it should be. I'm comfortable the comparison between these two rangers, the rest is just there for context.

I think at the end of the day it comes down to this:

Coronach.

It does respectable damage, doesn't have a 2-3 hit gimmick like Last Stand or Jishnu's Radiance.

It's simply that good.

Just a few from the last week: Top Bows, Bottom, Guns. All VD DM's. We do not exaggerate. We've won easily with 4 1/2 RNG's. (That 1/2 would be the guy that's at work and has 50% damage of all the other ones). Here's some WS averages:

Also, as a side-note, our LS abilities timed down to their maximum efficiency. There is very little variation between the use of every ability because they are entirely optimized to the maximum DPS potential of the alliance. All the RNG's barrage in unison, we EES in unison, we overkill in unison, double shot, bounty shot, random deal, wildcard etc. I have confidence that the damage disparities between gun and bow in our alliance are due to the weapon itself and not the players. The three guns are always grouped together and the three bows are always grouped together- there is almost no intermixing.

These are way closer to what we normally see (the 4k+ Ws's are on pets obviously.) I generally filter out any ws's on pets and the averages tend to come out just a tiny bit lower than the high end of Papsmuf's range.

Keichan's Namas Averages are a little higher than the normal NQ Yoichi ranger.
But either way, Coronach on targets this difficult is pretty much even with JR. which gives gun a gigantic advantage.

What buffs are those with? 4minuet/2prelude/2etude/4roll? Not swapping clearly hurt us a lot more than I thought.

We have a 4 song harp and a 3 song harp(so 7 normally, 9 at the beginning of the fight)..when at 9 its 5 minutes 2 preludes 2 études. 4 rolls, and we've also started bringing a GEO occasionally depending on what space is available to us(indi-fury and I'm assuming geo-frailty, but kei would know that for sure).

I'm usually the one double boxing the GEO. It's annoying as hell. Any AOE TP move will kill your Lupon. I'm practically chaincasting them. I do a Dematerialize/Bolster during GK (which is when all 6 RNG's do overkill/decoy).

Indi-Fury/Geo-Frailty(Def Down) everything except Mithra. Mithra, it's Indi-Precision/Geo-Torpor(Evasion Down).

After I started Precision/Torpor for the Gun RNG's on Mithra, the gap between the Gun and the Bows have increased even more.

BRD swap (assuming 5 song brd) and GEO won't hurt you that bad. COR swap is probably the single biggest dps increase you can get for those fights

There were no swaps at all. And like I said, PT1 only had 4 songs and 2 cor buffs only for 70% of the battle. The lack of extra buffs was clearly a huge penalty.

Yeah, Ranger damage scales insanely with Ratk/STR from extra songs, and the extra TP/Snapshot from two more COR rolls.

I rest my case.

we've also started bringing a GEO occasionally depending on what space is available to us... but kei would know that for sure).

I absolutely feel your pain on the dual boxing rng and geo thing. It does help quite a bit but my alt's gear is not the best and I am constantly recasting my luopan. Do you use send to keep stuff up? I have been doing so but am having some trouble getting JAs to work via send.

Turning Anni Stage 4 in tomorrow and playing with sets/looking up gear ideas. Tending to think outside the box and not cookie cutter wondering as anyone considered pairing Prester + Bloodrain. I have it coming ahead by a significant amount using common high lv buff set up in Mote's sheets. Can keep a Anni/Con 4-hit with it also rather easily.

EDIT: Did not consider some may not get why I am posting the staff, it works in the same way gorget/belt works, 100ftp and +10 acc to WS.

Using same tp set and ws set aiming for 4-hit, only differences are weapons.

Yes I know Prester seems like a pain in the ars to obtain but a reliable 3 man could sweep them up if they wanted to.

It will give you the best weapon skill numbers across the board. The obvious problem is the opportunity cost to leave it in your weapon slot. If fSTR2 is uncapped and you can take notable advantage of Apothic's STR(most lesser NMs in fracture you will be fSTR2 capped and you can scrape by on the mega boss with Boost-STR and BRD set bonuses) then Apothic will still be better for overall DPS despite Prester giving better WS numbers. Hurlbat should always be better if accuracy is an issue.

My current sets are below. Constructive thoughts on upgrades/changes other than what I listed?

TP
ItemSet 320451

Barrage
ItemSet 320454

Plan to upgrade feet to Arcadian Socks +1.

Namas
ItemSet 320452

Plan to upgrade feet to Arcadian Socks +1.
Plan to upgrade hands to Arcadian Bracers > Arcadian Bracers +1.

Jishnu
ItemSet 320453

Plan to upgrade feet to Arcadian Socks +1.
Plan to upgrade hands to Arcadian Bracers +1.

I am still trying to work out the best snapshot/rapid shot set if anyone has something figured out with the new Arcadian stuff.

Thx

Best Relic WS piece, and best shooting piece if you don't need the accuracy others provide. Marginally better than Orion +1 for Last Stand, not sure about Jishnu's.

Hello all. As you predicted, I do indeed enjoy RNG and have decided to deck it out. Not going for Anni yet tho (probably won't be for a while since I main MNK now and have yet to get Spharai)

Now Question:
Orion +1 cap vs Arcadian +1 cap for WS.

Obviously, Orion has better damage of the two, but the recycle effect on Arcadian is super tempting for x-hits. I tried to spreadsheet it to find the answer on my own but the moment I changed weapons around, it decided to have a twitter-fit (lots of #'s) where the DPS values should be...

But anywho. Arcadian +1 worth it for Last Stand? Or would I mostly be helping myself to get killed from too much WS spam?

Go to the JA page and change the ammo under barrage. At least when I get it, it usually is set to Midirum or something by default, therefore if you changed from Gun to Bow there is no matching "Midirum Arrow" for it to find(unlike in the case of Plasm Bullets/Bolts/Arrows which all share the same name).

Anyways to answer your question it really depends on what kind of a hit build you're going for, if you're expecting a Samurai roll, and what number thresholds are you comfortable accepting, if you're considering Ionis or not, and most importantly if you're using a Bow(also, Echinda or Eminent) or a Gun. Suji posted a 4-hit set for Yoichi, which is substantially harder to hit than most other builds due to its super low delay. Eminent Bow has very similar delay to gun, and breaking into a new hit for gun is theoretically possible but requires a lot of sacrifice in other gear slots and subjob, on top of a very strict Samurai roll value.

That being said I'm going to assume it's not worth it as you're likely not breaking into any new hit builds with extra TP from your WS; often times our STP options are already the best use of our shooting slot anyways, and Suji has also discussed how generally recycle procs during the TP phase combined with conserve TP usually gives us a pretty comfortable x-hit despite potential bad luck(which we all know still happens obviously).

I'm really just trying to stay with a simple 4-hit settup MAYBE a 4/3-hit if You guys thought it'd be worth it cuz with Arcadian Beret its pretty easily done without sacrificing too much. I'm certain the Arcadian would provide more damage but I'm worried that it'd help in getting me killed too often.

After talking it over with the more experienced RNGs, they agree that the increased WS frequency would be very powerful but dangerous for me since I am not using Anni. I use Eminent Gun and I get 25 TP/hit 95% of the time thanks to the Arcadian Beret and +15 STP in gear unless I'm missing, where I would obviously switch to Acc sets.

So pretty much I would like to present the Idea to you of using Arcadian Beret +1 for WS if you own Annihilator. With the Recycle effect adding +5TP ton top of w/e your normal TP return is, it should be relatively easy to get 25 TP return without sacrificing too much in the way of gear since you only need 16 STP and you would be pretty much spamming Coronach at Kraken Club speeds without needing to rely on COR buffs.
Obviously if you have access to COR, this changes and one could simply make a spellcast rule that switches to Orion Head +1 and other gear when Samurai roll is on.

For me, this would probably do nothing but get me killed since Last Stand doesn't have the flat 80 CE / 240 VE Coronach does but for Anni Users, I think this would clean house. <.<;

Hm I apologize, I'm more used to full alliance content so I usually just take COR for granted even though I think most people go to individual Ark Angels without one. If you're not using a COR then yes, gun users will likely need to WS in Arcadian +1 in order to maintain their 4 shot, as it may be difficult to toy around with other STP options due to the accuracy requirement of AA.
