Quick question I'm sure has been asked but is "resist all elements" the same as "magic evasion"? or is it 2:1 or something to that effect? Basically which set would be better?

ItemSet 366129
More Regen, Acc, HP, Magic Evasion, Parry

ItemSet 366130
More Enmity, elemental resist. Both are capped -DT with shell.

resist element is the same as magic evasion for that element(1 resist fire = 1 Meva for anything fire based), AF body(+3) is a generally a locked item when it comes to building Meva sets.

Elemental Resistance gives 1 Magic Evasion for the appropriate element (i.e. "Magic Evasion +5" on gear can be treated as "All Resistances +5")

Set #2 is better.

If you're purely tanking, I'd trade Utu Grip for refined grip +1 and swap waist to engraved belt

Utu Grip I consider the best, because of its huge +70 HP.

Enmity loss is proportional to max hp.

Also, you know.

It's Utu Grip. You should be able to cap DT and still push out respectable DPS, and Utu grip is also amazing for that too.

Unless you are getting one shot by elemental damage often (You shouldn't be, you're a RUN), +70 HP and Utu Grips mad DPS boost far outweigh anything any other grip provides.

Lionheart and Epeolatry and also Morgelai make Rune Fencer competitive with other heavy DDs, R15 or not. In certain fights such as Albumen I can see Melee Rune Fencer getting the most damage.

Fully buffed yes.

RUN DPS is solid it just lacks the same offensive tools as other 2hand DPS. (Zerk, LR). So you are more dependent on support buffs.

I've had my Epeo for about 2 months now, and i only JUST noticed that my RUN lua has been prioritizing Aftermath OVER Battuta. So if i have AM status and use Battuta, it does not equip my parry set (turms mitts +1, ogma cape with parry, erilaz legs+1, etc.)
Has anyone else noticed this?

(I'm using Arislan's base lua that I've fine-tuned to my liking)

Any guidance would be appreciated

If you're in hybrid or non-tanking stance, AM will take priority.

If you have any defense mode active, AM won't equip.

This seems to have fixed it.

If this is what I think it is, I'm surprised to see it from Arislan. You obviously aren't meant to be able to naked up when charmed.

We seriously comparing working around a thing the game doesn't let you do (change gear when charmed) to avoid killing teammates to botting ambuscade bar-spell or everything WHM? I have no problem using react myself or people doing that but there's a difference between smart and lazy

I'd say there's more of a problem using React than changing gear when charmed tbh. React is lazy af imo, others may say otherwise because it can be helpful.

I personally don't use React, but don't care if others do. It's a personal preference thing to who's lazy if they are not multiboxing.
React i can understand for multiboxing.

Changing gear while charmed is actually very helpful tbh. Even though you're not meant to do it, it's helpful.

Of course it's helpful, you are changing a move that turns you into a severe threat into a move that only removes your ability to do anything. In what world is that not cheating?

If charm wasn't meant to pose a threat, they would just use sleep/petrify/terror.

I agree with you, it's cheating but you gotta admit it's on a different level than Arislan's point on react (I use it and recognize I'm lazy/want easy wins)

that bit of code in arislan's lua doesn't unequip your gear when charmed, its a tanking set toggle that will combine some charm resist pieces with current gear set, same with the knockback/death state toggles.

React compensates for lag/player reflexes in a way that's not really necessary, but still doable by anyone even without windower.

Dumping your gear after being charmed is straight up violating the rules of the game. Your team is meant to have to deal with you, whether by means of sleep or petrify or tanking or whatever.

Again, I'm the last person to take a moral high ground, I cheat all the time. I just don't pretend I'm not cheating.

Makes much more sense for the person who posted it, thanks for clearing that up. Ridiculous how the response is to make silly excuses and pretend it's not cheating, though.

I agree, addons that are cheating are nice to have, the only one i use myself is Anchor, cos im lazy and hate pressing "W" after knockback.

I don't use React cos I like to take pride in my reflexes which not everyone has, so I use them over a bot.

Cheating in ffxi should be known and accepted by now lol, it's just dumb when people say cheating is required to beat something, aka this month's ambuscade.

Totally not what it does...

Gotta love how raging cheaters assume the worst in others.

Manual toggle =/= React

There's nothing wrong with a manual toggle to wear charm resistance gear. I said it surprised me because I, as someone who doesn't use gearswap, read it as a condition triggered by charm being active. When what it really did was pointed out, I said it makes much more sense.

I am sure you would consider taking your gear off after being charmed to be cheating, which is why it seemed out of place to me. The rest of the discussion is people who jumped in to say it's less bad than react, it's not cheating, or whatever.
