hello i currently have a HP pavilion Dv6 notebook pc. I don't know much on computers but i do know i lag during VW and some other events a little. I was wondering if their would be a difference if i reduced the screen size, texture, or anything else in the config.

As for screen size. The overlay and backround maxed out and nothing in the menu part.
For the textures i have compression - high. fonts - high quality. onscreen maps - uncompressed.

these are just a few things i think would help if i adjusted them, but i don't really want to mess with anything before an opinion. Also if theirs any program i can download to reduce lag that would be great to.

Any feed back will be greatly appreciated.

My guess would be that running on a lower resolution is your best bet.

Adjusting your background resolution is probably the more drastic FPS improvement you can make.

The window size is a huge factor on your FPS for older computers.

Also, set the game in high priority through your task manager.

Lowering the background resolution (make it a lil pixely) will help as well, but at some point it won't do anything for you lowering it further except make it look worse.

Giving advanced tips to a person that says "I don't know much on computers" is probably going to result in more broken stuff than it could fix. Don't need ya really messing with the registry if you don't know the how and why and what the changes are doing or how to back them up / roll them back.

That being said, this is a pretty good link for explainin a few of the changes you can make in your basic FFXI configuration menu.

...but just be careful of what you're changing.

*Ironic because I'm trying to fix my own PC problem at the moment which is leading to a lot of:

How do you do this? Because when I go to task manager I can't find ffxi unless the game is on, and then when I do I dc because I only know how to get there via ctrl+alt+delete. And then,
