But then I saw the second post.
Sorry if this is Necro: PS3 FFXI Support is around? So I can use/play FFXI on my PS3?
Mind if I ask how? Odin.Xzerper said: » Sorry if this is Necro: PS3 FFXI Support is around? So I can use/play FFXI on my PS3? Mind if I ask how? I play on the old fat ps3 with backwards compatability, I believe, and I could be wrong, that those machines are the only ones that it is possible. the best part of this thread is that its under the windower forum
In the PS store there is a free download called PS2 format I believe, might have the name wrong but it's something along those lines. Download that then install FFXI the same was as you would on PS2.
Edit: and yeah as far as I know it needs to be an old fatty since it needs to read the ps2 disk. so many people who keep their hopes up for absolutely nothing, I'm not sure if it's funny, or sad.
I do not have the PS3 Fat, so I was wondering if I could trade out my HDD in my PS3 and put it into a backwards compatible PS3, install FFXI on it, and move it back to the original PS3.
I do not care to pay for a 40$ HDD Disc for my PS2 to make it work on my PS2...so looking for alternate methods instead. Mainly using it as a 24hr Bazaar Account. I play exclusively on the PC. Just using a PS2, PS3, or XBOX360 for a Bazaar would be nice. Which brings me to this: I have a XBOX 360 w/11GB HDD. Would FFXI even work/fit on that? Computer/PS2/PS3 is roughly 11GBs just all by itself without updates. Wouldn't know how XBOX would fit it. 1. PS3 hard drives are encrypted, you can swap them at will, but you'd have to format it.
2. seekers won't be released at launch for PS2 in the US. (their wording). 3. they don't make a 360 with a 11GB hard drive. 4. They game requires a 21GB partition now, iirc. edit: the backwards compatible PS3 is rare, and to be honest a failure prone device, has a similar issue to the RROD on the 360. You'd be better off getting the disc for a PS2 imo. I have 3 sitting to the side to fix along with a stack of 360's, just waiting on the reball equipment. As I've tried reflowing on them, and it's just not cutting it. Jetackuu said: » 1. PS3 hard drives are encrypted, you can swap them at will, but you'd have to format it. Not entirely true iirc, got a couple Jailbroken PS sitting here and I swap out HDDs between them/pcs all the time depending what I want to do with them. I never get prompted to reformat though But yeah that wouldn't work anyway seeing as the actual Bluray drives are either backwards compatible or not.
The BC models are rare and if you do find one like mentioned will probably die on you in a short time especially if you play it hardcore. If you are adamant on playing a console just grab a 60GB HDD off eBay for like $25 for a 360. Well I have deleted -ALL- the games off the XBOX HDD from the person that gave it to me(Thankfully it was a gift). I have yet to see anything past 11 GB Available on the HDD when I view the HDD space.
With all the games gone and whatnot, what the heck could be taking up so much room if there is not a 11GB HDD?(I am sure it is roughly 12-13GB HDD...but only says 11GB Available.) To the poster above me^: I am strictly a PC user. However, I do not like Alt-Tabbing, and would much rather prefer to put my alternate account on a system that is not taking up my computer's RAM(Not super good computer to begin with): As well as have a 24hr bazaar I can vend in Upper while I do my own thing on my main account. I'd turn on FFXI, set up the bazaar, turn off the TV it would be hooked too, and just let it be afk till power goes out/need to restock/it disconnects/etc~ I'd check all the music, videos, apps and installed games from disc.
It should say ontop of the HDD itself what size it is. A hacked PS3 is a different story, but normal consoles you cannot just swap hard drives and recover data, from experience others have had, I really don't recall attempting to do it myself.
2. I don't really care what the formatted size of the 360 drive is saying, there's a printed size on the damn thing, the smallest they made for the external drive is 20GB, and no it won't run XI since the partition size increase, barely did before (I know, I had one for awhile). What I was saying with the PS3: is that you cannot get the data off a drive if you take it from one "normal" PS3 to another, or so I've been told by numerous competent people. The issue isn't the bluray drive isn't the issue, it's actual physical components on the motherboard (or a revision, as the 80GB model was software compatible). |
