I've read accounts of both. Just starting DRG and have never really known much about the job, so please pardon my ignorance. I've got people telling me it requires skill and others saying it doesn't. Some people say it never misses, some say it always misses.
Wondering mostly for the sake of group 2 merits.

I see -- how would you judge its practicality? Still worth meriting you think? Or would you say most things nowadays are resistant to the effect?
5/5 with augmented relic gloves. Only time it shouldn't proc is if there is a higher defense down effect or a couple of blu spells.

You can do it without the augmented gloves. And yes, a higher defense down effect will overwrite angon, or cause angon's effect to be fail.

5/5 Angon is a drg staple. The gloves just add 1% def down per merit, which makes it even tastier since that's a total of 25% def down.
It's worth noting that SE has stated they plan to make angon stack with other Def down effects which would make it even better and always useful, though god only knows when that adjustment will be made since they said it so long ago.

i have gained magic skill from having /nin-blu. otherwise how would you explain the above if drg does not have native throwing skill?

That makes sense though since 'Stoneskin' is a stronger effect than 'Magic Shield'. By 'stronger' I don't mean more potent but hierarchy-wise, stoneskin absorbs all damage and magic barrier only works on magic/breath.
