Also, who knows in the future spells that now seem pointless may be used for new trait combos!

I believe I have successfully proced with Light of Penance without being in front. It doesn't land, but it gives "no effect" instead of a resist and still works.

Thanks for the fast and clear answers guys. I'll most likely be downgrading Enfeebling skill. But that'll be in a while, now I just unlocked BLU and I can't wait to start playing with it!

If you don't have 99 TIZONA, you're not taking the job seriously.

Fixed so I no longer take srsly!

There are 2 reasons to get all the spells.
1) Completion
2) So 3-4 people on these forums think you take the job seriously

If your spending hours of your time for either of these reasons, I feel sorry for you.

2006~, it was really common to be told to and to try and obtain all spells, but I honestly don't see the point now, unless you are doing it for completion alone. If something is useless, absolutely useless, why bother going out of your way to get it?

Agreed, if you take your job seriously, you should spend your time on something that actually improve your job, not something that doesn't make a difference. The time you spent on useless spells could have been gil farm for a lv 99 E/M, or hex -1 and so on.

Completion is fun. There's just something special (at least to me) about having a full spell list.

But then again, I'm the type of player that's in love with getting everything to 100% no matter how pointless it is. I did get a platinum trophy in GTAIV after all.

It's just a game. Everything in this game is pointless, so doing it for completion is a perfectly legitimate reason. Really not any different from those people who play Super Mario Bros. until they can do those insane perfect speedruns or people who play stuff like I Wanna Be the Guy. As long as you think it's worthwhile then there's really nothing wrong with it.

Any advice on what neck piece to use before I can get Portus Collar? Right now I'm using chiv chain for TP and switching to Rancor for WS...I know that chain isn't even close to ideal but I'm not sure what to go with for now.

This - I still use it as my LS doesn't have much hope of arch-dyna bosses these days.

For your sanguine set, would cognizant belt be slightly better? Has 7 mind on it. Cognizant Belt

I use Crudelis Belt because it's a nice inventory saver. Useful for Benthic Typhoon, Sanguine Blade, and MND spells. There are better belts but this one covers multiple uses.

I've been using the dyna spell set that's in this guide, and it's worked out very well for me. I'm curious though, anyone else who uses this set, what do you do with your last 6 points? So far I've only tried putting attack bonus, and counter there. Counter was kind of cool but really doesn't go off enough to be worth it.

I'd use it too, if my Blu could equip it.

I typically do WoR and benthic. Will replace benthic with mp drainkiss if/when needed. I also like setting final sting and vanity dive for the 8 total agi, which results in 2% evasion rate (when fighting DC mobs usually). Vanity dive is also a good substitute for Heavy strike on DC mobs if you find yourself missing too much. WoR can get pricy mp wise so use sparingly.

Also, i believe proth mentions using acrid stream for DA trait. I instead like to set empty thrash. Same set points, better stats, and can increase damage output when you have 2 or more mobs procced.

Ha, that made me lol. For I use that belt, too. Silly dnc items that look great and then you forget to check if blu is even on it... Thanks for catching that, gotta update a few spell sets.

I use penitent's rope. Its already there for nuking set, and sanguine blade is modified by int through fINT, since it is magical.

Despite the -MND on it, Wanion belt is quite good for Sanguine Blade as well.

That's exactly what I did. Just threw it in to spellcast and AH'd my penitent's rope. Now I gotta go buy it back lol... or maybe not since I never use Sanguine Blade anyway (benefit of having a 2nd character).

Don't feel bad. Back when Benthic first came out I bought that belt and had it macroed for uh..two weeks or something before I noticed Blu couldn't use it.
