Random Question thread (FFXI related)
Anyone buy Crysta before from UltimaPay?
I buy my Crysta using paypal through UltimatePay. No extra fees and I've had no problems
I bought my crysta half an hour ago and it still doesn't show up on my square enix account and when I go to my passbook no transaction histories are shown.. but when I check paypal my money went through and it's marked as completed.. getting worried.

Might possibly be related but when I logged into XI today I noticed the POL header mentioned a SE Acct Management System Maintenance.

Onslaught though. minstrel ring latent and convert hp to mp gear, does it go off of yellow hp before that converting gear or after? only piece I precast in is zenith slacks+1 but how does that factor in
if confused I mean this note on the bottom of http://wiki.bluegartr.com/bg/Sorcerer%27s_Ring no note for minstrel, just making sure :q You logged too quick! XD Anyway, I looked it up and Minstrel's Ring has a smiliar note here: minstrel's ring ~
So it should work the same way. edit, weird. The link breaks, lol. http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Minstrel's_Ring What drops S.Abjuration: hands/legs? Looked at both wikis only see asb for hands morta for legs but I don't really want to believe they only drop off one mob specifically ; ;
I have a doubt about VW lights and their functioning.
Red light increases the chance of hq drop, but does this come on a specific drop slot? Or does every slot have a chance at the hq slot? Cause if that were the case then blue lights would actually increase a chance at hq as well. Sorry if I worded it poorly. Leviathan.Comeatmebro

I understand it's very hard to test, but considering all the VW done by now I thought some data was gathered to make at least an assumption.
As for rubicund, there's no reason why the developers would put a false description on the item..if you think they would then you might need a tinfoil helmet. I'm not doubting them, simply saying that it hasn't been proven. Testing is extremely difficult because you'd need a coordinated effort from a large group to gather reliable data. It's not that the test is hard to design, so much as the resources required are out of the reach of most individuals and it's difficult to get a large group to test.
If you were interested and had such a group, you'd want to start with something like Pil with multiple rarity tiers(harness, shoes, ammo, plate). Your standard test would be to kill 12 pil x 18 players and record results with red capped and rubicund, no excessive blue. Record the blue for reference. After that, you'd kill 12 more of them with capped red, capped blue, rubicund and cobalt and disregard/repeat any kills that you fail to do so. You can't quantify it exactly by doing this, but you can create a strong case for the difference because 216 boxes with/without will create a difference outside standard deviation for plates and ammo, if they are in fact different. To do the same for Dilaram's or Toci's, you'd need in the range of 1500-2500 total chests opened to reliably say if they effect it. The problem here is that even if someone did the baseline test, you couldn't guarantee the results are similar for rarer items. A smaller problem is reliability of result: you would need a trustworthy group because there are countless people that make up drops('lolol 4th pair of dilarams have fun floor') just to try to look cool. A couple false reports would drastically throw off your data on the rarer items. (As a side note, did I miss where they stated what the cells do? They all just state that they enhance spectral alignment and the NPC didn't give me any details.) Phoenix.Icemn said: » What drops S.Abjuration: hands/legs? Yeah, he said that in his question. "Aside from the ones you listed"!
This is some speculation I have about voidwatch drop rates and how cells work, spoilered because I don't have anything but anecdotal evidence and my own experience with cells.

As far as insufficient samples go:
11/1488 - Tocis, Pil(0.739%, XIDB .86%) 461/1488 - Plate, Pil(30.98%, XIDB 34.3%) 71/1056 - Pouch, Qilin(6.72%, XIDB 6.0%) 0/1056 - Coruscanti, Qilin(0.00%, XIDB 0.07%) 4/336 - Mekira, Kaggen(1.19%, XIDB .82%) 124/336 - Plate, Kaggen(36.9%, XIDB 34.5%) 16/144 - Plate, Ig-Alima(11.1%, XIDB 12.9%) 6/144 - Dross, Ig-Alima(4.17%, XIDB 4.3%) 5/144 - Cinder, Ig-Alima(3.47%, XIDB 1.2%) 1/144 - Borealis, Ig-Alima(0.69%, XIDB 0.15%) This is not a full tally of every voidwatch I've done, just records that were taken while I was 8boxing them. Red alignment was capped on most, but not all pops, and rubicund cells were traded on all. JA/WS procs were limited to enmity douse and lucky chi blast/provoke.. I do not use weaponskill procs and generally only use MNK and DRK as my DD which limits the amount of job ability procs available. I did not use cobalt cells on any of them. XIDB's average lights cannot be spoken for, so it's possible that their average blue is also low. I'm posting it anyway in case anyone finds it interesting while this topic is around, not because I consider it conclusive in any manner. I always thought of the VW chest having the same system as BC/KS chests. HQ group being mob spec stuff, trial items and scrolls with 0-1 and NQ groups all the same items and number for groups or the amount of items from a single NQ group depends on the amount of blue light. I really think its possible that SE were lazy and did just use the system thats already in place rather than making a new one. Red light I would think gives the HQ slot a better chance of loading rather than the mob spec drops getting a better drop rate. Ive had pil runs where ive gone 6/6 on plates each time with 3 rubicond cells used per fight.

I'm not on your server, but I've offered 5m and got a decent amount of sellers. You may be able to squeak out ~7-8m if you catch an impatient mythic owner, but generally it's a for-profit venture to buy a pop and people won't bother for too high a price.
Ok, so what did you all do to start building up gil after coming back from however long your break was?
All of my high-gil items are now worthless in this econ., I have no problem putting some time into building myself back up, but I'm having real trouble finding a foothold to get started again. PM if you don't wanna give away tips publicly. ^_-) Dynamis farming mostly, and getting lucky on the occasional HQ drop from behemoth.
Go do some dreamlands Dynamis as NIN/DNC. You should still be able to farm anywhere between 100 minimum to 200 maximum without treasure hunter. That should theoretically keep you in gil as much as you need. Other good sources of gil are Voidwatch NMs for Heavy Metal Pouches or Riftcinders (though you'll need some clears to do this) and Fishing.
