Yeah.
Avoid x58.
Archaic platform.
Also If you HAVE to have the best power the best card isn't the GTX 590 it's the ASUS MARS II limited.

Old? yes. And it still out preforms 95% of the MB's on the market right now. When it goes out of production, and mine burns out, thanks to my lifetime with EVGA they will replace it with an up to date EVGA motherboard.

Cool will they give you a new CPU to replace your old one with since the sockets don't line up?
The only CPU's on the x58 platform that out perform the 2700k on the 1155 socket are the 980 and 990x and if you're gonna pay that money you may as well get 3960x on the 2011 socket which is well above and beyond.

Another one of these posts!

Here's a basic list of components taking a few things from previous suggestions...

I'm pretty sure ncix.com builds your ***for you. At least in Canada they do. They have a warehouse in CA, where you live and you can call to ask if they will build it. The last I heard about their building service was something cheap like $50 or whatever. Either way, give them a call or email.

I didn't include mouse/keyboard/monitor/speakers because that stuff you can pick on your own.

Watercooling + computer newbs = broken computer. So I opted for traditional air cooling to save you money.

Feel free to criticize the build, it's really just a baseline.

Lifetime means lifetime of the product. So if your product is discontinued, so is your warranty, IIRC. I could be wrong and it could mean lifetime.

Then that means you had your product registered with EVGA within 30days of purchasing it and you still have your receipt, etc. etc. etc.

EVGA Has a policy that if you are lifetime with them, and that product goes out of production they will replace with current tech equivelent. They replaced my GTX 295 with a GTX 580, and my x58 Classified with a 58x Classified3.

doubt that...

I've never had a board burn out on me..lol...

regardless, suggesting for a new build though is foolish, old board old socket, no upgrade options in the future.

1366 was on it's last leg a year ago.
Intel has put out 2 new sockets since then.
That platform is very dead and gone now.

I'd like to point out that not all EVGA motherboards have lifetime warranty anymore, they've changed that policy to make more moneys hence why I thought their warranties were lifetime of product.

Actually, none of their current/previous generation motherboards have lifetime warranty.

Oh yeah? I haven't checked lately. But when I built this PC 7 months ago they still had it for the x58 series. A friend was updating some things in his PC and gave me the original classified, couldn't get it to work and we got an RMA on it and sent it in, they sent back the classified3. (maybe he and I are grandfathered into it being long time customers for this particular product?)

I don't keep tabs on the upgrade world since it changes so fast. This PC does everything I want it too and has so much spare power I think I overdid it when I built it. Last PC I built lasted me 4 years, I expect this one to last me atleast 2. Then I convert my current PC into my backup for the livingroom and I build a new one for me.

One thing that sucks.. is this PC raised my power bill by 50$ a month.

If you do that get the 2700k over the 2600k.

x58 classified(3) is like the last lifetime warranty mobo

now you have to buy additional warranties up to 10 years which is more than enough imo, lol...

Oops, forgot the price. It's around $1,851.49. If you want the Intel Core i7 2700k, it'll be more but there's your ballpark quote.

The reason I didn't add the 2700k was that ncix didn't have any in stock and didn't let me put it in the cart, go figure.

Also you should have everything (cables/screws) you need to put together the computer.

Isn't the Bulldozer a server processor anyway? It's not designed for desktopy applications. If you're not hosting a webserver with applications or something else along the lines of a server computer, go with the I7.

heya onc, just my two cents. newegg has pics of everything that comes "in the box" in their pics section. i'd totally recommend them also for buying for parts for a build. their ground shipping is pretty fast. i get stuff the next day if i get the order in the morning. good luck

Hello i just built a killer PC that can play games like crysis 2 on maxed everything for around 2000 dollars including 32" 1080 lcd tv

for the cpu i strongly suggest you the intel core i-5 2500k, the gain from the core i-7 its very minimal at gaming.
for the motherboard if you dont plan to use the Z68 feautures like SSD caching and Virtu for video transcoding (both features are very meh) go for a P67 chipset motherboard, i got an EVGA p67 FTW myself but theres a lot of cheaper options.
for graphics card i got an EVGA gtx 570 and it can max any game in single monitor setup. but if u wanna save a few dollars u can go fine with a gtx 560ti
for the last core PC component i'm going to suggest you a 120 GB or higher SSD along with a 500GB or higher hard drive. i'm going to take some pictures of my rig to show you.

I still don't get this crossfire/SLI stuff, I think it's way overrated. a 200-300$ card can play any game that is out now on max settings, right? so why get two? seems like a waste of money and power.

1 card can max out most settings depending on the resolution. Higher resolutions demand more and also drop the fps avg of what 1 card can muster. Thus adding in a 2nd card will help overcome this.

However, sli/cross fire setups suffer from multi stutter problems. Albeit sli cards suffer a little less, but its there and visible. 3rd card normally fixes that issue, but the cost and power useage are always the kicker to those setups.

And yes double setups can be overated depending on person to person. Its whatever the person deems adequate as far as fps go. Some people cant see past 40, others 60, and others can.

Other times its just for the epeen, just like having a car that can hit 200mph and never being able to enjoy that.

not sure really, just somethin my uncle does when he cant afford a high end so thot id throw it out there, and the 580 is like 500-600$ alrdy if im lookin at the right 1. i dont rly wanna low ball the card to bad

Edit: which i guess brings it to whats better, those 2 cards or 1 580

OK here are some pics,
the specific components are as follow:
Intel core i-5 2500k Processor
EVGA p67 FTW motherboard
EVGA GTX 570 graphics card
Antec Kuhler H2O 620 cpu cooler
Coolermaster 600 watt Power source (adviced to go 750 watts, this works fine thou even with 4.5Ghz overclocked cpu)
Corsair vengeance 8Gb ram 1600 8-8-8-24 1.5v
NZXT phantom case
Seagate barracuda 1Tb hard drive sata 6g/s 7200 rpm
LG dvd burner
Samsung series 5, 1080 full HD 32" lcd TV

this cames from the top of my head, if you give me a little more time i'll give you the exact price. but it was around 2k. including a k800 keyboard, G13 gameboard, M505 mouse and misc fans and multi card reader.

On all honesty if you want to go higher specs its because you plan to game on multiple monitors in which case you will need another graphics to go sli and a bigger power source to feed'em
the only thing i'm missing its a SSD, thats where u should put your money intead of a bigger graphics or processor, thats my 2 cents

Pirin im not gonna quote u to save space but that looks sick, only issue I have with that rig is it only has 2 ram slots, and looks like liquid cooling I shudnt mess with that as some1 mentioned earlier. dont think u said SSD either and im rly thinkin bout gettin 1..but im nitpicking i suppose.

Edit: didnt see what u said under ur pic there, yeh i wanna add a SSD and possibly dual monitor becuz if its possible to run FFXIV and 11 at the same time, im gonna flippin do it, and i r wantz no bottlenecks.

Edit #2: GDI just realized even the motherboard i selected was 2 ram slots lol ^^

I'd avoid SLI/CFX. You'll need to have driver profiles added for it (usually) and there can be problems with micro-stuttering. Micro-stuttering is caused by synchronizations problems with the alternate frame rendering that both solutions use to have two GPUs work together and one's frame ends up being on screen signficantly longer than the other's. So you paradoxically get high FPS and choppy graphics.

The sweet spot in graphics cards at the moment is a Geforce 560 Ti 448 (shop around; different manufacturers cards are run at different clockspeeds and different cooling solutions that vary quite a bit in noise and effectiveness) or Radeon HD 6870 (they tend to stick to AMD's reference designs). You can get much faster cards for more money, but depending on your monitor resolution it may be overkill.

Also, for a gaming PC you can save $100 on your CPU and go with a Core i5 2600K...there's very little difference in games. ( http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/the-sandy-bridge-review-intel-core-i7-2600k-i5-2500k-core-i3-2100-tested/20 )

When u speak of SLI/CFX u mean the motherboard or the vid. card? and i decided that becuz of the monitor rice ima just get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889262140 Thats assuming tho that y set up has the hdmi slot..seems i didnt look..or dunno how lol.. this thing even worth it as a monitor? i love vizio all my 55"s are vizio despite ppl saying they suck. or shud i stick to a monitor..sry for more questions i just rly want the best for my buck.

EVGA GTX 570 HD 340
EVGA P67 FTW 250
I-5 2500k 220
power supply around 65
1tb hdd 110
phantom case 140
ram 75
CPU cooler 75
DVD drive 20

Thats nearly 1300 dollars, add the price of your choice in keyboard/mouse, monitor/tv, SSD and any misc. custom accesories u might want.

this worked wonderful for me, powerful maxing any game with no lag at all, silent and hell of a view for my room.
