I agree that FF VI was probably much better than VII in many facts:
1st Was released on cartridge (that makes you think how the hell the did to put all the info stuff on it).
2nd Even SNES version was easier than the original from NES it maked many ppl start to play the saga, and graphics were nice to the time.
3rd At all the departements(Jobs,Bosses, races, cities, transports, relics, etc)was the first game to make you use them while the storyline goes on,so this is why I consider this way better than VII,VIII or IX.

From what I read, the Playstation Networks releases are "PSOne Classics" so they have the Playstation version of Final Fantasy 1,2,4,5,6 and NOT the later Nintendo DS, PSP or GBA? So the Playstation Network version of Final Fantasy V is the same one that was on Final Fantasy Anthology and -NOT- the Final Fantasy V Advance that was released for GBA? Can someone confirm this for me please? =) -R
Any PSP / PS3 remakes or PSOne classics are always direct imports of their PS1 or SNES games. That's my only issue with them. GBA/DS remakes so far are better, especially in terms of difficulty. There's already talk about FFV being on 3DS (in Japan at least) so I'll hold off on V. Never did get far in VI.
Sorry for the nub question, but I always see the FF games on PSP/DS in the stores, but I also have the games on PS1. I was just wondering if it was worth it to also buy it for the PSP/DS? Do they have better dialect, or just the difficulty is harder? I guess is it like the difference between tactics and war of the lions?
Depends on the game. FF4 for the DS is a complete revamping of it, both in combat and graphics. Now with voice acting as well!

FF4 for the PSP seems to be the same game with updated sprites (much like they did with FF1), but it also includes "The After Years", a sequel to FF4.

There's probably more subtle changes like re-translations, but for the most part if you were/are content with the PS1 versions you're probably not missing out. Only exception in this case is The After Years, which does add entirely new content.

Getting paid Tuesday, then I plan on buying Chrono Cross. But before I do I just want confirmation that you CAN play it on PSP. I know the description on the PSN says "PS3/PSP" but I just want to be sure. If it does work, im totally spending all of this week's money on Chrono Cross, FF7, 8, 9, FF Tactics, Suikoden, and Legend of Mana FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE of playing it handheld :D

For anyone that cares, the PS1 FF Anthology version (first version to release outside of Japan) of FF5 is out on PSN now.

And to those curious, I can personally confirm that, yes, you can play on both PS3 and PSP. You can even move the files back and forth between the two.

One other awesome tidbit that I'm not sure many know about is that if you have a PS1 memory card and the PS3 memory card adapter, you CAN use old files from original PS1 games! I confirmed that long ago with Symphony of the Night and FF7.

Less content than the gba version, by that I mean:

No neo shinryu, no omega mk II or enuo.
Or any of the dungeons related to them, there is also no gladiator, necromancer, and any other jobs obtained post end game.

Been a while since I've played it myself though.

There are hacks for FF5&6 Advanced that reverts ("upgrades" would be more appropriate) the soundtrack back to the original SNES quality. If you're going to play the GBA versions, they're highly recommended.

This was the game's downfall, in my opinion. I'd rather have a compelling story about a handful of characters than 30+ (40+?) not-so-compelling stories that really fail to keep me interested.

Not really, it just opened doors in variety as far as gameplay goes.
Not everyone had to have something interesting to them to justify their will to join you in your adventure. Besides, only a small handful were worthy of being key protagonists or antagonists even. They were the ones that had particularly vital roles and dialog therein.

Also thanks to this, I have a hard time deciding if I want to get myself a 3DS or wait for the Vita.

On a side note, due to the elemental functions in battle, it was somewhat necessary to have many characters so that you weren't completely screwed in choices to overcome a particular boss and things of the like.

Well the DS version is missing The After Years, but it has more in the way of making FFIV a little more current-gen. Although if you have a Wii you can get the After Years on it seperate, so you don't have to get the PSP version to play that.

The PSP version of FFIV is the one with the most content. It contains:

*FFIV: Including the Lunar Ruins and the Cave of Ordeals.
*FFIV - Interlude, a short scenario linking FFIV and The After Years
*FFIV - the After Years, the sequel to FFIV that was originally on the Wii as downloadable chapters.

Also includes a code to get the Knight of the Twin Moon costume for Cecil in Dissidia Duodecim.

Very very nice package deal :D

As for Chrono Cross, half the fun was recruiting the characters! Just like in Suikoden or Radiata Stories.

the PS1 version music > the old SNES/Famicom > GBA versions?
Most people would argue that the SNES/Famicom versions have the superior sound quality. The PS1 versions seem to use different samples. I like the PS1 FF5's music, personally (probably nostalgia bias), but FF6 got butchered to the point that I don't even want to play it with the sound on. FF4 avoided this fate because the music was actually prerecorded for the PS1 installment (in other words, it has sound quality comparable to the SNES title).

Basically, unless you're playing a remake that has new remixed music (FF4 DS), the music was made to sound as close to the SNES originals as possible. It's pretty hit or miss as noted above, varying from game to game and track to track, but generally since they're trying to emulate the SNES music rather than outdo it, it's reasonable to expect the originals to always be definitive.

Again, this isn't true for remixes. I actually like several of the tracks from FF4DS better than their originals.

if you're at endgame of 5, Movers in N-zone are the best for AP, and magic pots in phoenix tower are second to them.(be careful as there is a set number of pots in the tower.)

as far as exp goes, i never really leveled my characters, just worried about the job levels, they eventually level up a ton anyways lol
