Did they remove the slow loading for each battle from Chrono Cross? That was one of the things I hated... loading!

The store updated, and Chrono Cross is up. I'm so ecstatic to get to play this after so long. Even more ecstatic that I am downloading it to my PSP just before a long night shift.

Honestly, I don't really care much for FF5 or FF6 since they have been released on other mediums before. CC, on the other hand makes me happy because not only is this the first release to another medium since its original release, but its for a portable one or a static one.

5 required tons of grinding which made the game boring.
Actually, 5 requires no grinding at all as long as you know exactly what jobs and abilities to go for. Unfortunately, you probably won't on your first playthrough, so... :\

As much as I like the idea of old games being available, its not like they have not been re-releasing them constantly for the last 10 years. S-E keeps falling back on its old successes to the the point where I'm doubting they have the creative spunk to reach for the new modern JRPG gold.

More new games and less old games re-released for the Xth time.
But...but...they have to do -something- to keep themselves afloat while each actually new game stays in development hell for five years!

wait there was a sequal to chrono cross?
Trigger was it's prequel. Sorta. You can play Cross without having played Trigger and still mostly understand everything.

They did register a name for another game in the series though. Chrono Break, but their claim on the name is set to expire next month.

Not being familiar with PSN I have a few questions
(1)- apparently I can get games from here if I buy a PS3 or a PSP Yes?
(2) - Does the game get 'downloaded' or is an active connection required to play the game?
(3) Is the game or the graphics or the sound improved upon the last update? (So will FFV and FFVI be game wise graphic wise and sound wise identical to their Playstation "Anthology" version?)

Thank you for the information! =)

You make a PSN account and you can download games (some require money) if you have a PSP or PS3. The game gets downloaded so you don't have to be connected everytime you want to play and I have no idea for the last question.

From what I read, the Playstation Networks releases are "PSOne Classics" so they have the Playstation version of Final Fantasy 1,2,4,5,6 and NOT the later Nintendo DS, PSP or GBA?

So the Playstation Network version of Final Fantasy V is the same one that was on Final Fantasy Anthology and -NOT- the Final Fantasy V Advance that was released for GBA?

Can someone confirm this for me please? =)

Wonder if it will be the original FF6 from the SNES, or the updated version that was released for a portable system more recently?
As I saw elsewhere, it is the "PSOne Classics" so it will NOT be the SNES version, it will be the playstation version that was released as 'Final Fantasy Anthology" and not the later GBA version released under the title "Final Fantqasy VI Advance" in 2006. Again, I would like confirmation on this tho.

I remember playing Chrono Cross on PSX when I was in college.

Don't remember everything about it, but I remember thinking it was fairly good. If I'm remembering correctly though, there were way too many playable characters and enemy battles became far too easy in the latter stages of the game when characters gained access to the highest-level magic attacks.

Any PSP / PS3 remakes or PSOne classics are always direct imports of their PS1 or SNES games. That's my only issue with them. GBA/DS remakes so far are better, especially in terms of difficulty. There's already talk about FFV being on 3DS (in Japan at least) so I'll hold off on V. Never did get far in VI.

I am looking into getting myself a PSP or DS Lite and the related games for the holidays. I played the originals (NES/SNES) and the PS1 versions a decade later, now I will do them again for my personal pleasure =)

Sorry for the nub question, but I always see the FF games on PSP/DS in the stores, but I also have the games on PS1. I was just wondering if it was worth it to also buy it for the PSP/DS? Do they have better dialect, or just the difficulty is harder? I guess is it like the difference between tactics and war of the lions?

PSP remakes are never touched except for maybe graphics. The DS ones are fiddled with difficulty as they are remade completely.

In this case tho the PSP remakes were after the DS ones so they have the changes that the DS ones made with new PSP graphics.
I think.

Even so, like FFIV for PSP. It's just cleaned up sprites and maybe translations, but the difficulty is exactly the same as the original. The DS version of IV is far, far more difficult.

Actually, the PSP remakes of 1 and 2 have all the features of the GBA versions with updated graphics (plus some extra content, at least in the case of FF1), and the PSP remake of FF4 has none of the changes from the DS incarnation except for the opening movie (might have the ending movie too, but I can't remember). Instead, the PSP version of FF4 contains all of the features of the GBA game, fixes many of the GBA game's bugs, and also contains all episodes of The After Years and a new scenario that connects the stories of the two FF4 games.

I own all 3 of those games in the other formats but still i think i'm more excited about CC then the rest of them... FFVI is the best FF by far but i just love CC's music and story.

I'm actually more excited about CC too lol. And I'll probably get some flack for it but I liked it better than Chrono Trigger <_< /hides from rabid fans

I'm glad to finally I'm not the only one. I played CC before CT and I'd heard my friends say for years how it's the greatest RPG ever. And when I finally played it they were all shocked when I said CC was better in every way and CT was just decent. The power of the rose tint of nostalgia glasses!
