No words ever truer, i was about to give up was even considering selling my lu shangs and just buying gugs but on my LAST gug today it happened.



1/133 liks 1/450 hellfish if i ever see a gug again it'll be too soon. they're way harder to catch then liks all liks fished myself about 70% of the gugs.

I can't imagine how the 1k+ gug ppl stayed with it lol.

(side note: my one regret is i did these yrs of fishing on my old blm mule and not my main char,but im so happy atm)

This is what I've been doing, works well enough with halcyon/minnow.

You can also do kayabaligi in al zahbi to 75, but from my experience the bite rate is much worse due to the amount of items you'll hook there. Not to mention besieged.

Still in low twenties on the fishing. Still 200K guild points away from having all KI/items bought from Alchemy guild (so I can join fishing guild). Nearing first 1000 moat carps fished up. You people are awesome!

Okay did Haks difficulty get nerfed or something? First time fishing again in 2 months, I must've had about 25 line breaks now and only 10 catches. I have never had luck this bad before, always a 2:1 catch/break ratio.

i still am having a 2:1 ratio.

Another 5 breaks since posting that... This has got to be the worst night ever.

What result has fishing skill for higher skill fishes? Does it reduce linesnap?

Man buying Minnows is near impossible. I think it's time to start crafting them.

One question, is the stuffed "big one" worth getting? Seems to be worth it till I get the GP for another item, but I never see people talk about it. Am I right in thinking it doesn't stack once I get the Map or Sign?

Buying a Lu for you're mule is great! Every time I buy one and resell after I get Ebisu, it's worth about 500k - 1 mil more

I gave up hunting for minnows on my server. Ever since the cruor nerf it's gotten even harder to find some.

Fishermen's Stall (15K GP points and synergized from Fishermen's Emblem) +

Fisherman's Sign Board, Fishing Hole Map OR The Big One gives Mega Moglification: Fishing. According to Wiki :

This increases your Fishing Skill by 1 plus makes discerning when you have a bite much faster.

Fishing Skill +3, plus lowering stamina, plus discerning fish faster.

Frog lure only targets Pisces. Good luck.

Wiki is outdated, Stall alone gives +5 Skill, any other items (GP and the big one) are rumors over rumors what they add as far as i know

Does the Key Item "Mooching" make a big difference in how many Matsya you catch when fishing with Dwarf Pugils? I have some people saying it doesn't make much of a difference, and have other people who are saying its a huge difference. Would appreciate any feedback anyone can offer. ^.^

The big difference with mooching is that the Matsya stay on the line for a pretty decent amount of time. This way you won't need to use Albatross Ring or something to keep them from getting away. You can use the ideal setup of Puffin and Noddy rings to reel them in.

It won't make them bite more often itself, but Puffin/Noddy will lessen your undesirable hooks. If you don't have those rings, then getting them would be a good idea before worrying about mooching.

Also, no matter how many you catch, it doesn't mean Zaldon will necessarily find a Shawl in there for ya. Trust me...

Well I'll be building up my GP for it, but what would you suggest to do until then? Albatross ring+Puffin (or Noddy) ring and hope for the best? And I know the feeling, had pretty bad luck on Ebisu items, and so far 0/20 on the cape from Matsya :(

Say I have a craft at 100 and I decide to switch guilds to fishing.
Do I keep my veteran status with the previous craft?
Do I keep my level 100 with the previous craft? I know fishing doesn't follow the 110-70-70-etc rubric.
Do I keep all my Key Items from the previous craft?

Other than what felt like 100 line snaps, i went 1/54...so from those 54 that i caught i only had 1 lost due to not enough time...but i think it was due to lag more so than anything else.

so I've been skilling on dark bass, & noticed (after seeing they NPC for crap) they are a guild point fish later on. my question to you pros: should I send them to a mule for GP's later on? or keep npc'ing them for 1200 a stack?

Keep like 30 on a mule for if/when they are GP. 1,200 gil isn't much.

Is there a specific fatigue linked to Hak fishing? I noticed I don't get many line breaks when I first start fishing in the day, but after a few hours it's like almost every second bite is a break. Just coincidence or did they actually do something to prevent fishing Haks for too long?

I remember for other fish, you'd just get less bites and more junk items after too long in the zone. Getting the same amount of bites on Haks, just so many breaks.

It's luck of the draw. I've seen 6 line snap in a row at the start and then 10 catches...it's the SE random generator.

I went from 0 - 33 on whatever. I'm unsure what, it'd been a couple of years since I did this. Since returning to the game I have given fishing another go and really got into it.

I did Shall Shells in Bibiki using a Halcyon Rod and Rogue Rig until level 53. The bite rate was excellent and until about level ~45 they're all I fished up, since the other fish were too easy to give 'You're unsure...' messages. From 45+ it might have been better to change camps, but I stuck it out.

Then, on the advice of my mentor Watusa (Mr. Bean guy) I gave Talacca Cove a try. Use a Halcyon Rod and Crayfish Balls to hook up Dil and Mercanbaligi. You will get line breaks fairly often at first but they will decrease the higher you get. Release any !!!s you find because they're Ahtapots and they'll break the Halcyon Rods. The only downside to this spot is the need to synth a load of Crayfish Balls; if you have Cooking 60 or higher it's pretty easy and cheap. Alternatively you can wait for the price at guilds to drop and buy them from there.

The stacks of Fish NPC for 7.4k-8.6k depending on if you sell them to the guild in Whitegate or not. This spot is honestly fantastic; the bite rate is awesome and I'm glad he recommended it. It will take you all the way past 78 (As high as 96 on Dils, 86 on Mercanbaligi) and the level requirement to be able to quest for the Ebisu Rod. Like you, I am reluctant to buy a Lu Shang's.

I have a question of my own regarding Ebisu. Is it possible to fish up either Lik or Gugrusaurus without a Lu Shangs? I am thinking it's highly unlikely... But I can not find the answer for sure anywhere.

i tried with one of the alchemy rods since i could repair those with 1 light crystal as opposed to 50 but it turned out like 28 broken rods per lik so i leveled ww and camped the torque/gp hands
