Gotta compare the effort to haks. I would much rather fish up 9 haks then 1 matsya
I don't recall if it was here or BG, but for those I was telling that matsya are no big deal to fish up, I forgot to mention that I have mooching (which increases the time I have to fish them up). I don't think you need this KI to use ex bait/to fish matsya, but without it you don't get that time bonus.
This can, of course, be easily replaced by using an albatross ring, but then you wouldn't get to use another ring in its stead (e.g. the ones that increase big fish catches/decrease mob bites).

Was BG - was stated it was easy to reel in, but still needed a ring charge. However this was at 91 fishing - I have been skilling guard because I'm still butthurt lately, but will probably try some fishing today. I do recall the one time I went matsaya fishing I went 0/20something :\

so what would cause me to just not hook any hakuryus/fish in a long period of time in beauc with the correct bait? seemed to only hook monsters and items >.>

Wiki says that mooching is a technique involving using live bait and also says it does not function unless you are using the EX bait, so I would assume that to mean you have to have the KI to use the bait. I have a few of the bait and not the KI yet so I will see if it lets me use the dwarf pugils I have.
This was my matsya record back from 2010. Out of 125 bait:
Matsya Caught: 21
Line snaps: 35
Mobs: 48
Jellyfish: 20
Items on my line: 26 (lost a bait from cancelling 1 item)
When I went fishing a few days ago, I don't recall having so much bait getting taken away by mobs, but I wasn't paying close attention. I was also using my ring that lowers monster bites for the latest session, but I'm not sure if it would have such a drastic effect.
Whether this old record is still accurate or not, it's a good lesson in why you may want to have someone hold the four (or someone else reported five) mobs in the zone. I realized this fact in 2010, but just didn't want to fuss with finding outside help.

Ex bait can still be used by people without Mooching, and it can successfully be used to catch matsya. Mooching only gives a time bonus for using the ex bait, not the ability to use the bait itself.

Well it did let me use the eX bait without the item so I'm thinking its what Nibu said, that it grants you the extra time bonus when using the bait.

I use the Ex baits and fish up Matsya just fine without mooching. It extends the time you have to reel in a fish when using the Ex baits, that's it.

The only things I can think of is fatigue (though according to wiki you shouldn't be catching anything at all if that's the case) or you're using the wrong bait and there isn't any fish out there that wants to bite it. Or just incredibly bad luck.

logged out and logged back in and hooked a hak the first cast... not saying I casted 960 times without hooking anything but items/mobs but I casted 960 times and got 260 items/mobs and no fish

Pricing seems all over the board on Matsya (at the time of this writing.) Fenrir has them on AH for 1 million each at steady sales, while Bismarck AH has had one transaction for 3 million. Lakshmi AH has has a large stock but at 300k each, by comparison. The cross-server bazaar prices (expectedly) are very different, too.
Either way, Rgtheone seems to have had incredible luck on 1:2. ^^ Congrats on it.
Is the cape deliverable? I wouldn't mind sending one to my Bonecraft mule.

hmmm first time i've gone fishing sense i got my new pc, and after yesterdays update, i notice how bad the fps drops, has it always been this way and never noticed it on my basic pc for years, or a bug in the update? fps drops down to 15.

Edit: It seems that they just require slightly different "tapping strategy" than before. After 5 liks I seem to have gotten it down and it's about equal to before update.

ok, so i moved to cherax for skillup, since would like to get that synthesis cape.
They kinda easy, but still takes me about 10-15s to reel them in (have ebisu). Very rarely i even lose some, since rod spends more time in the middle than on the sides.
But there were 2 guys next to me, who were constantly catching them in 3-4s (yeah i timed was superfast).
Am i missing something or those 3-4s catches are bots?

Yeah, they can be a mixed bag in terms of bite rate AND fighting difficulty.
In terms of the fight they put up, you can sometimes get really lucky and completely drain them within two rod movements (e.g. the rod stays left for 50% of its stamina, the rod stays right for 50%, pull it in). Similarly, it might last all the way up until the "running out of time" message if they are being particularly feisty.
3-4 second, however, sounds like an impossible feat, even given the best circumstances. Frankly, I always try to position my character/screen in a way that I can avoid seeing how other people are doing, and either disable sfx or use a single audio channel (R/L) to avoid hearing others' progress. I realize that's a bit of an "ignorance is bliss" situation, but it helps to keep me sane and focused on what I'm doing.
Not sure what advice to offer you on liks. I haven't touched them since the update. Good luck out there.

Are Matsya this annoying? ._. My friend's holding 4 of the mobs that can be caught, and im trying to fish up matsya, i've caught like 21 items and 6 jellyfish, 3 supposed matsya (i think?) bites, but all 3 were line breaks. I'm by the I-7 bridge ._.
