Do Tricolored Carp till 27 then move to Shall Shells till cap. Then go to nash until the 90 range and finish on cave cherex. This is the path I've taken.
You can do GP for your current rank than rank up however you can only obtain as high as the next ranks GP value like if its 1200 than rank up and its 2400GP for max than you will be able to trade in enough for that extra 1000GP just did this myself

Rumors of a new money fish in new area? Any one got the details? shens npc nicely but heard a fish is over 9k >.>...
As far as I know, Shen NPC'd for the most, and that was only like 2k.

Barnacles and mussels can be fished up and are used in the new quests, so I think on Shiva the Mussels go for around 10k on the AH. Haven't seen anything npc for more than 2k.

Anyone have experience fishing Pterygotus with a Composite Rod? Wiki says it won't break but everyone else is saying Ebisu and Lu only. Getting tired of making Crayfish paste every day for my mule :(
Pterygotus are fine with composite+lugowrms. I skilled from 75-99, then until I finished my ebisu with this, no breaks.

It's possible, as I used to sell fish on the AH for the contest and some of my buyers would win.
However, please note that crafty/profit-hungry sellers will most certainly place all of their crap fish on the AH before placing anything competitive up. E.g. If I had 100 fish, I would sell the worst one first, and every fish after that would get slightly better. You would notice this trend after each purchase, and realize that if you ever wanted a winning fish, you would have to buy your way up the chain.
It's better to check bazaars next to Zaldon if they are available, because you will know exactly what you are getting.

whats everyones reel in rate on Matsayas? His skill is 109 atm, he has Stall, Waders, Fishing Smock, other gear and torque (Rings are Albatross and Puffin) and yesterday he got 16 fish in about 200 pugils... while i was holding the 5 Monster-Fish

Are you fishing up the items so they don't consume the bait? I get about 8-10 matsya with 60ish pugils. 98 fishing atm

The steps required to fish up Matsya are simple but a PITA. You go and fish up Cave Cherax. Have Zaldon gut them and when you get like 100ish Dwarf Pugils you go to Vunkerl Inlet and start to fish up Matsya. If you are doing this legit then you need to have Mooching KI. I'll refrain from suggesting otherwise. You can then have a mule or friend grab and hold any monsters you fish up. Having someone hold all 5 monsters will eliminate them from you being able to catch them thus you keep more bait. At this point you should really start catching everything that is on your line. Items,if caught, will not consume your bait but will if released. That is pretty much it. Good luck.

Have played for many years, fishing skill is 58 and I have been fishing up Gigant Octopus, Bastore Sweeper and Breams w/o any armor/ring/item help except my Lu rod,for cooking craft. BUT... recently I'm not getting any skillups fishing in Vunkerl (S)at all, even tho I'm 58 and successfully pulling up lvl 90-100 fish. Why?
Hi all! I'm currently trying to catch Takitaro for fish ranking (smallest weight) and I can't seem to catch any lighter than 351 Pz. Is there some hidden factor to catching a certain size of fish (skill, location, bait, time of day, etc) or is it purely random?
Wiki says that 296 is the lowest, I was hoping for one to be <300 at least as I don't think I have much chance with the one I have. I'll keep trying though. :)

What's the best place to catch Bastore Sardine with a Sabiki? I feel like Port Windurst hooks junk 75% of the time and Jeuno is always Yellow Globes.
You've just hit one of those random stumps. If you don't need the Sweepers I would completely change spots to isolate fish that are above my skill only. For fishing + cooking Talacca Cove is a great spot (Bream, Sole, and Grims).

You've just hit one of those random stumps. If you don't need the Sweepers I would completely change spots to isolate fish that are above my skill only. For fishing + cooking Talacca Cove is a great spot (Bream, Sole, and Grims).

Selbina is much better so far, thanks for the tip. Going to try Bibiki Bay tomorrow.

I would go with the Smock since it would increase your fishing bite rates.

Has there been any data compiled yet n fish in new areas? for instance skill ranges and such.
