Ninian's Guide To Chocobo Raising

Thanks for the guide on this though, Nini, I had a fairly decent chocobo back in the day but I gave up after I simply could not for the life of me win the Pullus Torque race ._. So close but so faaar :<

Any pointers you could give for that particular race, though it's been so long I can't remember my bird's stats...

Might start again from scratch and finally get that torque done!

NP :O Yeah, Pullus Torque requires a fairly specific stat spread. :x

SS/B/A/C will allow you to win the races 1/1, or close to. I used speed apples for the races up until the Pashow Swamptrot, then I used Chocobo Tape until the race with the Cactaur. For that race I used a foulweather frog, then after that race used Chocobo Tape again. :3

Thanks for the guide! A few questions:

I have 1 black male and 1 black female chococard. I have no info on these birds thought. I got them off random people as they would ride by. Im hoping I have some chance of getting a black one.

1. What Honeymoon plan do I want for a racer?

2. Can I still call and ride a racing chocobo out in the world?

3. Even if the parents stats were not that great, do I still have a chance of breeding a winning racer?

If the JP wiki is correct and I'm interpreting it correctly, breeding two black chocobos won't necessarily yield a black because you can have black chocobos with r/b/g color genes. That said, the best way to get a black chocobo is by breeding two blacks, or doing isnm uncapped.

1. I usually go for sports plan because my male chocobo is much better than the female I breed with. Gourmet/Sports/Hiking are all fine options, Gourmet/Sports will help your chocobo in the beginning of it's life (assuming you're going physical path first).

2. Yup you just need to do the quest for it when the time is right.
Obtaining your Chocobo Whistle.

3. You do certainly. It's going to be a bit more work though. You don't even need to be born with any abilities to have a great racing chocobo, you just need patience. Of course it's far more convenient to be born with abilities and the like.

I need to put information about chocobo food up soon, since there's various info that NAs don't know about, such as Sharug Greens increase physical attributes as well as increasing affection slightly. Stuff like that. And Parasite worms are used for changing a color gene, at the cost of your chocobo's attributes or something or another.
