Was there ever any explanation from SE as to why Ochain is still able to be countered? I thought Martel had put in a bug for it long ago.

I came to the conclusion that either SE didn't care, or blocking counters in the first place was considered a bug, and things are now "working as intended." Which is incredibly annoying. Counter blocking was about the coolest thing I ever discovered(not to mention damned useful.) And they go and patch it... Or spaghetti-code break it. No telling which till they say something. -.- Hey just wondering what the top sets are now mathamatically? (TP/WS/MDT/PDT)I'd attempt the math myself but i don't even know where to begin lol, anyone?

Add Meva set if you plan to do things like sky sea PW Abyssea etc or death set (hp+in all slots and twilight) My pld needs some work as well, never bothered to lvl it past 90 Ya I didn't include AF1/2/etc gear because I assumed it would be obvious people would macro in the appropriate piece per job ability. As for other sets: Flash: Cap haste, then maximize enmity. I also make my flash sets differ based on what set I'm in however (it doesn't change me out of damage down gear when I'm in -DT mode, since any damage you take during that gear swap will negate any extra enmity you added on your flash). Cure swaps: Not really as relevant anymore, but an appropriate cure cheat should be in every paladin's toolbox. As for high/low accuracy sets, there are some pretty obvious swaps you can make in your Melee TP sets if you're accuracy starved. Though again, if you're fighting anything that needs a pld, you're most likely not going to be in your full TP set >.>. Cure cheats are still the best way to keep enmity capped in something like a WKR.

I didn't notice it being mentioned how is Excalibur and burtgang do for dps using cdc vs Almace. At 119 item levels
We talked about Req beating CDC in high buff situations, but I don't think anyone has done the DPS numbers yet to see which sword wins in which situation.
Burtgang is obviously a beast currently, with Req or CDC. I don't see Almace pulling ahead of Excal in any situation now however. Fenrir.Evildemon

Well that makes me glad at least. I always loved Excalibur and makes glad to feel that it would be better now regardless of tp situation vs almace

I quit in August, but honestly, I never had any trouble capping, and staying hate capped in WKR as /war, /run, /rdm. I used cure-cheat sets years ago but honestly they really seemed to lose their punch a long time ago, especially since every other job that you might expect to cure can now cast it much faster than the PLD to the point that the gains from the fake hp kit seldom seemed worth the time, especially in a place where 6 mages are targeting you just because you're reliably taking damage. I don't think you were staying hate capped so much as the other DD not putting out enough damage to constantly pull hate off you. But yeah if you have a ton of mages curebombing you, it could ruin the benefits. This is more so for WKR that you can't really do a lot of damage to, like yumcax and Kumhau.

/BLU tools are probably the way to go for that purpose.
Not a bad idea, forgot some of those still had significant enmity values.

I was, because I was usually tanking against other paladins who were rarely approaching hate cap. In some of the drearier yumcaxes, or 6 hour Hurkans, we'd reach that point where every action by my white mage or I drew the NM back and forth between us. I can't speak for the new WKR, (those are out right?) but things became laughably easy to maintain cap with with the skill update to delve weapons. Solid, if not capped acc in full dt sets was pretty lol. Though again, if you're fighting anything that needs a pld, you're most likely not going to be in your full TP set >.>. the question was assuming that as well. i was asking which of those af pieces would be practical to store when considering inventory space. For Example. JA like Cover, Holy circle do seem necessary Now with reverence Reforge Armor and usefull af2+2 augments. i was wondering based on the pld community which should i prioritized of those pieces. Just from the basic sets named above, i am currently at 71/80 and missing some skirmish gear, earrings and hp items for a curekit. how useful is shield skill gear? i really wish you would fully update this guide with the information you are assuming players know. this game isnt what it was 6 months ago let alone a year ago. Players dont know or care to put the effort to learn game mechanics and those who have the knowledge and ability have moved on. Looking at the guide it seems i only would only need a tp ws and dt/mdt set. also your post Delve gear is a hell of alot easier to do or come by and i would just save your item sets and go with a more best in slot type of hierachy. I'm still taking a look at the upgraded iLvL AF armor to see which would still be useful.
As for currently useful/needed pieces, I wouldn't keep any of the original AF. As for relic: Each of it has its purpose in +2 form for JA augments, and you'll want the shoes regardless for sentinel enhancement. I gave up on any cover enhancement gear for sake of inventory and lack of use. The rampart enhancement was also becoming irrelevant. As for shield skill, I can't think of a single slot where shield skill will net you less damage taken than merely adding -DT or defense in that slot. Regarding JAs, I only kept augmented AF2 +2 (outside of head slot) and AF3 +2 feet.
AF3 +2 body is still nice for the enmity/DT for provoke/flash but I'll store that one, along with mekira body, once I get my hands on the updated AF1 body (which is pretty awesome). You could use a set like this: ItemSet 315791 and maybe use 1 shield merit, to get 4% blockrate. It could help to recap Ochain on NMs and has a nice HP boost. Offline

Have not seen any info on PLD SP2. Just tried it as a naked PLD/WAR on a lv102 with Glinting Shield. Animation looks like a Shield Bash but with little hexagonal fragments that break off the mob and a tiny low pitched shattering sound(not as hearty as Shield Bash's sound). Did 611 damage(maybe more with Aegis or with more Skill?) floored the mob's Acc too.
How useful is Aegis these days? I've been saving up the currency and getting near the time to start trading it in. My problem now is I don't feel like I really tank much. Outside WKR anyway.
In Delve I pull or just hold most NMs for a few minutes till DDs pop them down. Just wondering what people think before I spend all this currency. I still want it for completions sake, but maybe my money would be better spent elsewhere. Mostly useful for WKR at the moment, but Aegis really shines when new content comes out and PLD gets to tank again (for a bit, til more efficient strategies are found).
I'd definitely recommend investing the currency. Also, unlike other relics, once you 95/99 Aegis, you don't have to worry about it being obsoleted by the next update. Get Aegis Tanag don't be gimp like me..

Aegis will always have it's nitch from the mdt cap break. If I was playing again I'd put my stage 3 Excalibur on hold to finish my stage 2 aegis. Since the sword is replaceable atm the shield isn't.
Well I can't argue with all that! Especially with Busta!
Aegis it is! Thanks everyone. Just wanted to take the time to say thank you to the OP of this guide and all the people who contribute to it. It's a lot of work and can often be a thankless job with trolls waiting around every corner to happily point out the slightest error but trust me it is appreciated. Recently leveled PLD and obtained 99 Aegis so this guide is a welcome sight. Thanks again everyone involved. Please keep up the good work.
119 Burtgang with 99 Aegis/D ring with new content = invincible.
Can anyone confirm if Excals add HP affect does stack with enlight now? if so Excal should be top dps and even more so if shield swapping.
I still use them Drama.
