Why those legs over Ogiers or some of the other alternatives? Though I guess I didn't check to see if we're capping fStr anymore with the higher base damages.
I'm getting Zoran's belt beating Wanion for Cdc. Pretty glad so I can save some space!
I don't have I an aegis or ochain (not that dedicated to PLD) however how does the Steadfast shield compare? It is a size 3 so block rate should be decent along with the -DT which should also help when not blocking. Of course ochain has near 100% block rate, but the real question is, can you effectively tank e new content? Compared to a ochain? In magic situations nothing stands up to aegis but a optional choice to the ochain might not be so bad?

Just thought about a new PLD TP set what do you guys think
Mikinaak Helm = Acc+10, Attack+10, STR+10 Path Mikinaak Gauntlets = Acc+10, Attack+15, STR+10 Path Mikinaak Greaves = Acc+15, Attack+10, Dex+10 Path The distinction between the sets are: Ares +1: DA+4%, TA+2% around 5-10 more Attack based how high your Attack is buffed because of the 6% Attack on Ares Body Vs. Miki Mix set: sTR+9, STR+12, DEX+12, Acc+19 from my Set the +9 sTP woud make a 13 hit with Excalibur for a 13 hit with Almace i woud need to change the Zoran's Belt with a Goading Belt. The Possable Upgrates Pak corselet +1 Also Mikinaak Gauntlets Aug. STR paht woud be pretty nice for Req. STR+10, VIT+3, INT+13, MND+13, Attack+23, Acc+10 vs STR+9, VIT+9, INT+9, MND+9, Attack+15, Double Attack+2% i think it shoud be a close call I think bottom is the best possible DD set if you swap Ares body with augmented Valk, or Pak (+1). (Could make it even better with Huginn Feet and Goading belt, actually)
I don't really use a full out acc set on PLD, I have a DD set and for stuff where you need accuracy you're probably gonna want to add some damage mitigation too, as you're actually gonna be tanking, so I use a DT/Acc/Haste set for tanking. Phoenix.Madberserk

True forgot total about Valk.
Looking atm just for options to replace Ares+1 since i hate Salvage. ^^ Ares only makes sence in my eyes if you atleast use 3 pieces but well woud really like to see what you others think about it. Is Sharur +1 the best paladin weapon by far now ?
Anyone ever made a realmrazer set and played with it on pld? Well, based on WS damage vs the delve MB sword, you're looking at:
130 DMG Sword with 5.5 ftp 85% MND WS with a 20% Attack penalty vs 174 DMG Sword with 5.6 ftp 85% MND WS with no attack penalty. So you're looiking at 0.1ftp, 44DMG and no 20% attack penalty vs the other DD stats on sword. Pretty easy choice there. donno if its been posted but whats the best set for flash if your gettin march x2 and have haste?

Wanted to bump this after reading on the BGWiki page for Steadfast Shield: "Additional information- extremely High block activation rate, and when blocking Dmg received is 0, tested as 99 pld against taxet solo - Evanleewimbish -Quetzalcoatl" Leviathan.Kaparu said: » False Are you saying that out of skepticism? Or do you have some sort of actual knowledge of using the shield? Offline

Bismarck.Chaosprime said: » what about the new Delve shield? its a size 3 with DT-7%. Still not acceptable? (not a PLD just thought i mention it) I am also curious about this shield. There's a side note on BGWiki stating that someone tested this Shield vs Tax'et and had an "Exceptionally High Block Rate with all blocks dealing 0 Damage". This raises the question of if this Delve Shield can stand alongside Aegis/Ochain. If it can, it would not surprise me simply because everything else from Delve is on crack <.<; I asked some PLDs in recent Delves and some in LS and they say the block rate seems to increase as the shield is upgraded. Which path they upgraded for these results were not stated and the side note on BGWiki also did not specify if the Shield was fully upgraded or even upgraded at all. There is definitely a call for testing to be done on this particular shield. Can it stand alongside Aegis and Ochain? Can it potentially outshine them? I think some testing is required, this shield would be perfect for people who have PLD and are good at playing PLD but don't Career PLD if it actually is a good shield Offline

Leviathan.Kaparu said: » Hmmm well the debate of it's standing vs Aegis and Ochain has definitely been defined even if that sample size was very small. However I am much more interested if this Shield is good enough to put PLD on the table at major events. Lets not forget that Aegis is deemed Acceptable even tho it's Block rate is a great deal lower than Ochain's In that guy's post you linked, he questimated the block rate of the Delve Shield at 50% or so. If a PLD can keep that block rate, does the shield become viable? Or is it really so serious that PLDs should be restricted to Ochain only or Aegis depending on how Magic Heavy the target is? Edit: I'm well aware that Aegis and Ochain are the top tier but is the Delve shield "Close Enough" to make it so people who have the tanking skills but don't main PLD can participate is what I'm trying to ask Offline

Aegis is deemed "acceptable" but not because of its block rate. It's deemed acceptable because of it's 37.5% magic damage taken above the 50% mdt cap.
And it only has a "great deal lower" block rate if you're not utilizing your Reprisal and Palisade rotations. At the very worst, it can be used to swap into from an Ochain during an incoming heavy nuke from an NM. Gonna' have to ask for specific situations if you want to know if Steadfast is acceptable. Off the top of my head, I can't think of one. They really never make sense for NMs outside of a fracture, and the sole reason for using one in fracture is to have a safety net in the event of a Lahar going off, which is loses all purpose without Aegis(and it isn't a strategy I subscribe to regardless)
Unless you can think of something that I'm not, then no, Steadfast is not a viable alternative

Just out of curiosity, what do you guys think of the new Buremte Gloves? I'm curious actually to see what a comparison would be for tanking/overall-pdt with the big defense and vit boost these have in light of the new attack/defense adjustments. Obviously these hands rock for most other areas.
Anyone have anytime lately to play around w/ any new gear sets lately?
I have similar questions along the lines of the last 2 posts. Just picked up PLD again for the first time since 75 (Was sitting on Laeradr and a d.ring from other jobs so I made an Aegis). Anyway, wondering Where Yaoyotl helm, Whirlpool greaves, Buremte gloves, et cetera fit in with the massive improvements to defense and magic evasion. Specifically how much DEF or M.Eva it would take to make up for the straight -DT I'd be giving up in the same slots.

Oh, and while I'm thinking about it, I suppose I should repost This over here.
Martel said: I actually did these test the day of the update. Just kept forgetting to write up a post. So, killedar now has +100 skill, rather than +218. Code 105 mobs. Shield Skill Block% DMG-% TDT-% Steadfast 517 52.09% -81.0% -42.6% Killedar 532 60.82% -87.0% -52.9% So losing 118 skill cost killedar 23.41% block rate So, how does this affect the current shield hierarchy? Code Shield Skill Block% DMG-% TDT-% Ochain 432 100.0% -66.1% -66.1% Killedar 532 60.82% -87.0% -52.9% Steadfast 517 52.09% -81.0% -42.6% Aegis 432 43.5% -81.0% -35.2% As for M.eva's relationship to the other stats, that's going to be very specific to the magic hit rate of the mob you're fighting so it seems difficult to come up with a generalized recommendation.
What's a pretty good PDT set now? I am new back since adoulin and wondering if my pdt\mdt sets are still up to snuff. This is my current set and I know I can upgrade hands with other meeble hands and l. helm. Have two dark rings with both having 5% pdt. Need d.ring.
ItemSet 310815 Shikargar. Every (non-burtgang) should have one. It really opens a lot of options.
I can easily maintain cap with shadow mantle and Buremte gloves. I like keeping buremte gloves nearly full time equipped. I think they're actually part of all my sets now. With a dring, you can take it further and equip a piece of massive hp gear, like Ka'yres ring, or Meridian ring, and still maintain cap. Bahamut.Jaggerjack

One day I'll have a d.ring. (says everyone). Was wondering if the new gear raising level was better than dt pieces. For instance, woul yao helm beat out ogier's? A lot to take in since being back. |
