I dunno, maybe it just seems too realistic for my fantasy MMO style, but it just seems off to me. >< Asura.Tristean said: So what're you guys going to name some of your characters? Speaking of which, what's everyone planning to main? I'm going with Riftstalker but I'll probably play around with Nightblade, Assassin, and Bard a bit too. Main Paladin/Reaver/Warlord
Sub Paragon/Riftblade/Champion To start with. Those builds are what I'm opting to try first, Flurry just seems completely broken, plus the main meat of that Paragon build involves a very high increase to both parry and crit (damage and rate) plus some strength from Champion. The Paladin build should be overall unstoppable with heals from blocks and a high armor/block rate along with healing from DoTs of the Reaver subclass. At this time, my main (or one of my mains depending on the group play time) will be on Icewatch (EU english server). Since they're in Sweden, I'm not sure how well our times will match up even though they play a lot during US prime time.
Bard, bard, bard! :3
I'm curious, what exactly are RP servers like? Are you in-character pretending to be a silly elf 24/7 and do they like, totally sperg out and shun you if you aren't good enough at pretending to be an elf? All I know about them is the whole people cybering in dark corners thing. D: It's supposed to be in character 24/7. Never been on a RP server personally.

I will play healer class at first place on a PvE server. If any of you guys form a guild and would like to invite me I would be glad to join.
I like Riftstalker/Dancer/Bard right now for PvE. I'd like Power Chord and better yet Riff for efficient Combo Point generation but giving up Weapon Barrage or Planar Attraction seems a little sketchy to me. I can get away with it in a PvP build though. Leaning more towards hit-and-run builds like Riftstalker/Assassin/Infiltrator for Riftstalker PvP but there's so many possibilities here o_o;

going Mathosian bard/ranger/sab but im def gonna have a cleric alt, i like how unique clerics are in rift, but i still prefer rogue over all. edit:my alts names are plays on number names with nominative latin endings for gender. EG: Irodessia/us, Irotrinara/us, etc Krizz
And my main alt will be Krizzle. Thinking about grabbing a physical CE preorder tonight after seeing an unboxing video of it. Really looks to be worth the extra 20 bucks for the 8GB thumb drive alone, not to mention the high quality steelseries mousepad and that awesome hardcover DC graphic novel. Luckily Steam refunds preorders pretty easily. :> Not sure how or if it'll work for a game like this where the key is registered on another site tho.
Valefor.Prothescar said: this is my tank build: reaver/paladin its good for single target and aoe tanking. for pvp/dps paladin/riftblade/reaver Four hours until Head Start begins. Unfortunately, I'll be at work when it starts.
Just a couple more hours, woooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. GET ***' HYPED.
This was posted on the Rift facebook a few minutes ago.
Quote: Trion Worlds announced today that more than one million accounts have been created to date, signaling a high level of interest for the company’s first massively multiplayer online game, Rift™, which is scheduled to launch March 1st in North America and March 4th in Europe. The news hits just as the game’s Head Start period begins, giving pre-order customers advance playtime before servers officially open on launch day. Launching with 33 Head Start servers, Rift will feature dedicated realms for PvP, PvE, and role-playing players. Servers are live today, coinciding with the game’s Head Start period, which lasts until the game launches on March 1st in North America and March 4th in Europe. All the new MMOs which have lower graphical quality, have it for a reason, that way you can join battles with hundreds of players without having too much lag.
It isn't even really low graphical quality, it's just more colorful than a "realistic" setting, which I personally find enjoyable.
Some servers already have queues nearly breaking 2000. That's hilarious.
Edit: That's within minutes of the servers opening up. Made my rogue dude on Gnarlwood, named him Ingram. :3 I see a Prothescar!
Within 60 seconds of the servers being up they were queued ;P

KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN
I clicked the server as soon as it was up and I have a 27 min queue
Valefor.Prothescar said: I clicked the server as soon as it was up and I have a 27 min queue I have like 3-3.5 hours until I even leave work. Hopefully the queues will settle between now and then. They're actually adding new servers every 5 minutes LOL
I had no queue logging in, weird. Better hope I don't crash or get kicked I guess!

What they're doing, is throttling the ammount of people that can be in the server, let's say adding another 500 or so people every 30 mins untill the servers start to lag, then add another server.
(I hope... At least that would be the smart thing to do) Valefor.Prothescar said: They're actually adding new servers every 5 minutes LOL |
