I've struggled with alcoholism since I was about 17. I was sober for a few years before I met and when I was with my wife, but kind said *** it and started drinking occasionally after a while.
I just have a hard time saying no to drinks... but I have such a tolerance that it was never a big deal to other people, just myself.
On a completely random note... I'm playing with one of those bracelet thingies from back in the 80's/90's. They are like semi-rigid, but it you smack them they curl up. So you can straighten it and then slap it on your wrist. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about and know what the hell these things are called?

With Ovr's mom and step dad being severe alcoholics, I was surprised to see Ovr drink at all. We rarely drink, but I think he really drinks to show himself he can have a bit of fun and stop himself if he wants to, that he's not a piece of ***drunk like they are.
That's one of the reasons I was so afraid of drinking. Bad alcoholic parent. :(

I've had to deal with alcoholics in my family my whole life, the hardcore kind, not the ones that still function in daily life somehow :<
I don't like super drunk people much and i rarely drink alcohol at all, guess it just makes you more careful when you see what it can do to people

I love my dad, but he is the worst kind of drunk! I really hate having him in a public situation, because lately, ALL he ever talks about is politics! He is also one of those drunks that monopolizes the conversation, talks "at" people and not "to" people, and he also has a habit of making his conversation the primary subject by getting really close to people which is understandably unnerving if you don't know my dad.
I don't get to enjoy barbecues and family get-togethers purely because I feel as though I need to baby-sit my dad. I really don't like hosting anything at my house if he comes to visit us. Without realizing it, he gets really abrasive with my friends.

Meh... sounds kind of like my dad. He's one of those obnoxious drunks that just gets mad at everything.
I stopped caring though, I seldom see him any more and he has been dead to me for many years. Whenever anyone asks I just say that I either don't have a dad or he is dead... and then when they meet him I'm just like "Oh yeah, he's not really dead."

Most of my German side are fun, jovial drunks, but my mom! ACK! She is the only one on the German side who is just downright mean. I have no idea where it comes from. LOL!
