I got ilvl afterglowed Farsha :D! All thanks to Packets LS members just flooding me with Boulders for no apparent reason. They feel like homies!

But my casual Sortie static apparently doesn't like my stinky butt anymore and is breaking after I get Stage 3 Helheim (so by Friday, we make about 20~24k galli a run).

Blugh. I need to find work again. Not just cause bills are adding up, but so I can have an excuse for not having time to do a Sortie static at all. I haven't had the rug snatched out from under me in a social situation this bad in quite a long time. I thought we were having a good time, and not taking it too seriously (hence casual). And we tried to up our flow to get G boss down on a whim, and everything went sour when we failed. Just the once. I don't know if we were supposed to stop being casual at that point, or if I was supposed to talk them out of trying it or what. There wasn't any shouting, no one seemed to be real mad, just kinda disappointed. We salvaged the run and still made like 17k galli. But idk, the vibe check failed after we got out of E basement and our COR warped out after we split to finish up ground floor minis.

After maybe 2 months of procrastination, today I will finally look for a new home.

Though its not like I just stood there doing nothing during that time. I thought and rethought about the best approach of that, I went from buying a cheap house to renting a good house to finally decide that I can rent a cheap house if it has the bare minimum and it has good localization.

It wont be in the next 2 years that I will live in a place I always wanted to, but Im somehow satisfied with my current decision, I still need to struggle a bit more before my "happy ending".

The next few years will be crucial to me. The risk of being demanded to become full office is real. Next month I will already increase my days at office from 2 to 3. Expectations is to have all 5 there till december.

I dont want to give up home office. For example, today I woke up 3am to start working, so I can finish at 11, so I can spend the evening looking for a home. Aside the morning is when Im at my top form.

Such flexibility simply doesnt exist at office, as Im forced to enter 7am and finish at 4pm, plus like 1h just going and coming back, basically consuming my entire day.

My next challenge after finding my new home is to hone my skills to find a new job that allows me to keep home office. Also, once my skills are mildly acceptable, trying to generate passive incomes somehow.

We will see.

What skills do you have? I’m curious. Don’t you do so-called normal periodic work? I myself am on partial disability pension with a work history of 36 years. Now I work in healthcare 19 hours a week. The other half of my income comes from the pension. I hope you find financially rewarding and meaningful work. I’ve spent my whole life working hard, most of it very physical, and now it’s time to take it easier. Enjoy hobbies and, above all, rest. I wish you good health and guidance in your life, whatever your goals may be. Best regards, Karppa from Finland.

Sortie is fine, allowing people to do it every day is the problem.

They should just halve how often you can enter, and double the rewards when you do. Then people will vary their content more and feel more rewarded when they do it less.

Some folk can handle the daily commitment, others cannot. I like that idea, maybe fewer statics would lose members this way, though I don't think the routes would vary any. Just less imposition on a person's free time.

A corporation can be publicly traded or not and have stock either way. Opposite of publicly traded in this regard is closely held.

Corporations can be taken off the market too, taken private is the term. Its easier for a closely held corporation to do shady stuff because there is no requirement to make reports public.

Musk is in a spot of trouble for inflating Tesla stock by stating, loudly and publicly, that he was taking the company private.

This. I would also add that whether one entity has full control on a company or not has nothing to do with whether it's public or private as well.

You can own 51% of stocks of your company and leave 49% of them traded in public. You still have control on the company this way. So being traded in public doesn't inherently lead to "shitty practice". It depends on the percentage shares each party has, and how talented the CEO is. Maybe a bit of luck and timing on market condition etc.

Due to the lack of public regulations, There is a lot more corruption going on within private companies, from my rl experience and observation at least.

From social justice standpoint, public company also leads to company revenue being distributed to other citizens and more tax collected from trading stocks. A successful public company means everyone else can make money with them by buying their stocks. You don't get to make money from a successful company if it's private.

I don't understand all the hate on public companies. To me it has more pros than cons as a whole.

Sortie is fine, allowing people to do it every day is the problem.

They should just halve how often you can enter, and double the rewards when you do. Then people will vary their content more and feel more rewarded when they do it less.
Honestly, they need to revamp its rewards structure. As it stands, there's no incentive to speed up once you actually get an optimal run pattern down. You always use every second on the clock, and the time pressure feels awful.

Any day that you look at the clock and say, "Well, there's only 5 minutes left. We can go ahead and exit." Is generally leaving something like 500~1500 galli on the table depending on what your group is capable of. And as with all things FFXI the little things add up(or in this case won't!).

Any day that lag or misplays happen and you die, that's just less galli you get. (This is true for some other content, but the point I'm making is that in other content the rewards are generally direct drops or bulk received at run end, so long as you finish you still get full reward)

And everything that comes from Sortie uses only the gallimaufry, so you can't upgrade your weapons and armor simultaneously. This really needs a relief valve because as it stands, even with a casual group like the one I'm losing, you get so many Starstones and Sapphires and Old Cases that you wind up NPCing most of them eventually. Yet, they have this ludicrous idea that buying them from Ruspix would be worthwhile... At like 70k galli per starstone. If Ruspix values those so highly, we should be able to trade them to him for Galli at like 1/20th the sell price lmao.

On the other hand, I guess Sortie really rewards merit, because the optimization had to be fun, at first, and it discourages dual boxing (at least the vanilla variety, not the full blown automated characters that the 6boxing chads do). Of course, the way the game is now, that's actually a hindrance to the way a lot of people have become accustomed to playing XI. My static included (I wonder if this is one of the undisclosed things for why it's breaking, the party has 2 dual boxers so we're effectively fighting bosses with only really 4 "optimally" played characters. Bonus irony points for "group" not wanting to do ambu with dual boxes).

But like imagine if doing Salvage you had to use Alexandrite to upgrade the Salvage armor. Or if while doing Dynamis you had to use ancient currency to buy the relic AF. Sortie just feels *** backwards, cart before the horse sort of deal. To +3 a full set of empyyrean AF, it ultimately costs 400k galli. Trivial for the best groups that make that much in 1 week. If you were in such a group, you could +3 your entire empyrean AF for every job within 6 months. Which is roughly 1 stage 5 Prime Weapon. Of course, doing that also requires the basement entry of every job, and the sapphires and starstones. 110 Star Stones, 110 Sapphires.

Almost no one is in an "optimal" group though. The threshold for good group is 8 boss, making like 50k galli a day. Which would be a dream for me. Meanwhile some people spit at that amount. Still others get into those groups or better ones, and then leave after they reach whatever milestone they were working on.
