I'm having hell of a time finding official drivers, but still looking. Connection has been stable for past 30min so who knows. Computer is only 2mo. old so dying NIC would definitely surprise me, never had one go bad before.

Thank you for the tech support Nynja and Thorny, btw. Much appreciated.

Got a driver installed, will see how it goes.

The problem with this outlook is that it worked fine in the past, so if it's a driver issue, the issue is being caused by the driver windows fetched during an update. So, a discrepancy between the correct drivers from MFG and the ones windows is providing is almost guaranteed if something like this occurs suddenly on an existing device and is caused by drivers.
How is that different from what I said? lol
I was already running on the presumption the existing drivers were from microsoft, which is now confirmed by OP's difficulty finding the drivers from the manufactuer. So all he did was delete and reinstall the same drivers from the same source, which could have still been a potential fix if something on the drivers got corrupted somehow.

99% chance the NIC is onboard. Find what kind of motherboard you have and go from there
If you are unsure what mobo you have, download CPU-Z and that can tell you. From there, you can google "(mobo model) drivers" and theres a good chance the first result will be your target (ie: I have an asus Prime B550-plus, and the first hit was directly to the Asus drivers page for that mobo)

However if you're seeing stability since doing that uninstall/redownload+install, you may have had corrupted drivers that are now gone.

A typical cause of a sudden failure like this would be a windows update installing a new driver, without the user being aware. As such, automatically finding a driver won't correct this situation.

You are still correct that it has a chance to solve it, if the root cause is corruption or invalid state on the current driver.

I don't really want to nitpick, you are being helpful and I just wanted to clarify that you should default to the manufacturer's drivers when possible.

No. But it once was. Then again gas went for 29 cents / gallon in expensive areas back then too. I would add that today millionaire is merely upper middle class and they STILL can't afford maids.

I may be wrong since I am not familiar with US labour market. But I think that has something to do with minimum wage increase?(Which is part of inflation), not billionaires making money?

In my region minimum wage gets increased aggressively in the recent years because politicians want votes. Which made cheap labours unaffordable to many family/employers with less income. Since foreign workers have even lower wage than minimum wage, most people ended up hiring foreign workers when they need cheap labour.

In other words, middle class in my region can still afford maids, but only because they paid below minimum wage to hire foreign workers from more poor regions.

I think the wealth of middle class still increases, but they feel relatively more poor because inflation and minimum wage increase > their wealth increase. So middle classes feels relatively more poor because of inflation.

Besides minimum wage increase, housing price is also what caused inflation.

Billionaires class is like 0.001% of the population. I don't think their wealth is the main reason behind inflation because their population is so tiny. If you make the argument of upper middle class(the top 20%) caused inflation by buying tons of real estate and drive the housing cost up, it would have make more sense. I certainly have seen data saying upper middle class's wealth increased way more than other class in the past 30 years.

They are upper middle class(top 20%) though, not billionaires(top 0.001%). Upper middle class are still much closer to common people than billionaires like Elon Musk.

Overall I do agree that middle class probably feel poorer because of inflation. But I don't think it is entirely billionaire(the top 0.001%)'s fault.

I still dont understand how thats different from what I said though.

You suggested getting drivers from manufacturer.
I said was that I dont believe he did this, despite them saying they reinstalled the driver. Kaffy said they deleted the driver from device manager then let it reinstall on its own. Such an action would install the latest that Microsoft has, not the latest from manu.

Youre wording it differently, but were both saying that letting microsoft find the driver means it might not be getting the latest. It might not even install the right one.

The disappearance of maids from middle class households had, I believe, more to do with domestic workers being added to social security than any minimum wage increase. But that wasn't something I payed attention to back then.

The federal minimum wage has remained unchanged for i5 years. At $7.25 / hour it is a disgrace. An hour won't buy most fast food hamburgers BEFORE taxes are deducted.

We have hedge funds buying up housing at a frantic rate and turning a profit through rentals. Our banks, who the government never gets tired of bailing out in times of crisis, is issuing rental backed securities having learned nothing from mortgage backed securities except to expect government bailouts when the ***hits the fan.

I used to support minimum wage increase because "human right" too. however after witnessing some negative effects from minimum wage increase I no longer support it. It only brings inflation, made local business with low profit margin unable to afford labour. Low profit margin business includes low end manufacturing and restaurants. Those industry got hit with minimum wage increase the most.

It made tons of manufacturing industry complained about "labour shortage" because they can only afford cheaper foreign labour now. Because they operate at absolutely minimum profit margin in order to stay competitive in the market.

Minimum wage increase also brings middle class income closer to minimum wage. Because middle class income didn't increase as much as minimum wage did. As a result middle class gets poorer because of inflation from higher minimum wage. And people have less incentive to work towards getting a middle class job too.

tl;Dr: human right can't put food on the table. Disgrace or not I would rather see the minimum wage stays as it is so inflation doesn't take money away from everyone's pocket.

I believe the benefiter of those are upper middle class(top 20%), not billionaires (top 0.001%). Many people in the billionaires class like Bill Gates probably donated more money to charity in life than most people can make in their entire life. But it's true that upper middle class likes to invest in real estate to increase their wealth further, driving real estate price up.

It's also true that it is easier to get richer if you already have a lot of money. This is called matthew effect. Matthew effect exists in every society in every era. Not just capitalism nor modern society.

Even bible mentioned this effect and it was written 2000 years ago!

yeah it's depressing when you look at the buying power we give these people, especially compared with how much the cost of everything has increased. Ever since the 1970's we've been *** up badly.

Since you were the only one of us around back then, how could you do this to us Chanti, for shame

I started my first real job at the equivalent of 4.38 USD per hour as a prep cook, adjusted for inflation that is 6.68 USD per hour today, yikes lol

Hedge funds tend to get most of their funding from pension plans and the investment of state surplus funds. So in essence the middle class both benefits from and is screwed over by hedge funds at the same time.

1. ftfy b. then let them fail. A business that is successful on slave labor doesn't have the right to exist.

They lie. Plain and simple. There's no "labor shortage" they're just cheap. Again: ftfy.

I mean the simple thing would be to list your motherboard...

but also you can find any missing driver by going to device manager and looking at the device ID and googling it (sometimes you have to navigate the mess though, not for the noob)

Whatever the problem was it resolved itself. I did find the driver on the motherboard website but it was the same one I had already. At least I learned a few things if it happens again.

You can check the profit margin from a company's financial report lol. Those are public data.

If their financial report lie it's against the law.

Jetackuu said: »

Yes, they are cheap, it lowers the cost of the products that we use and makes a company more competitive by undercutting so why not.

Jetackuu said: »

They will continue to exist, because there is market demand for cheap low end products. They'll just import foreign workers and pay sub minimum wage. And if government bans foreign workers for "human right" reasons they'll just move their factory to Vietnam or Africa for even more cheap labours.

You can scream human right all day if you want, the reality doesn't give a *** as long as consumers continue to buy cheap stuff from one dollar store.

Jetackuu said: »

I fell? No, I am one of the benefiter of cheap products from cheap labour, I buy cheap products and eat in cheap restaurants to save my money. I just don't pretend I am not a benefiter and sit on a moral high ground to criticize cheap labour, while complaining about restaurant food getting more expensive everyday and shop in one dollar store. It doesn't work this way.

If you want to support human right, at least show that you are sincere by paying more money for it.
