Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?

so I was playing bioshock in my small amount of free time I actually have right now before work and I got stuck on a loading screen that wouldn't load.....so I had to restart the PS3...and now the machine won't pick up any movie or game or disc I put in it T_T
how fix? I have to leave for work in 2 hours and I want to plaaay
Your laser is ***,needs to be replaced. Has happened to about a dozen ps3 owners I know,all of which happened during a loading screen just like you

Actually, it was made into a unicorn cause of 'Supreme horn of ***'.
xD He still tells me to "F" off at random times. XD My friends and I once changed another friends laptop background to a 2 inch penis when she left us with it... Next day she told us about how her parents ended up being the next people to use it but she got lucky and they left the room while it was powering up. I don't think she ever forgave us for that.

Have you got a Yellow Light? if so then the PS3 did a 360

My old PS3 would freeze midgame sometimes or during loads :| Not sure if it was the HDD or laser since I had switched the old HDD to a new one that I bought (60 GB to a 320 GB)

Scary thing, I treat my PS3 like crap and never had any problems.
I did have a friend that is on his forth PS3.
Sadly, have a friend that is on this 13th Xbox 360 now.
I've dropped my ps2 a few times, the disc tray front is kinda broken and it still works perfectly and it's over 10 years old >_>

Some games like Bioshock had a bug in it that would make you kill your save game. The game would freeze up.
This it was a later version of it though.
I got it in GTA4 and Assassin's Creed a lot though. For AC it could have been the firmware because I could still turn the camera even though Altaïr was stuck midjump but in GTA4 it would just freeze everything.

no, no weird lights. It still turns on and stuff it's just suddenly not reading anything.

Try to set the PS3 to recovery.
Turn it off and on down the i/o start button til you hear a second beep. Let go and it'll go into recovery mode.
WATCH OUT you can reset the whole machine by accident to factory settings!!..
YOu will also need the USB plug for your controller.
wait what...I won't lose any files will I? D: I lost my skyrim file the last time my dad tried to get it to play blurrays and it just 'bout killed me.

I think ours is the PS3v1...I think..its the big bulky one
there was an instance where I guess my dad couldn't get it to read discs so he did a system restore and deleted all my stuff while I was at work..but it worked again afterwards.

Another thing, you might want to USB flash drive or cloud your saves now before waiting. Don't erase them, just back them up.
Just as long as the account matches you should be able to just put the files back again in case you are going to try something crazy.

I would read on some forums to check on another fix. I never had to do the recovery mode but I can't get ahold of my friend at a repair shop to ask about this.
You had prior problems with it? Was this a 60GB or small HDD PS3 with the 4 USB? I think the backwards PS3 had a dual boot laser that just go bad.
As far as I know (only from when my friends checked for their problems) the only way to fix it is either replace it yourself (requires an exact matching model),or get sony to do it. If it's an original launch one Daus,they probably wont even have the parts left.

soooo I guess atm I'll just try and save all my backup files..considering I've played 2343234 games since the last time we did a reset..how big a files are these?
also, my systems giving me a save online option but I'm doing a system update now..I'll see if it works but I don't think I have the fancy ps3..
